Hi there! If you have some shiny math rocks and want to find more ways to use them, I made a few templates for scales/music practice. If you feel like tallying scores to fight a monster, there are three creatures I illustrated - the Gelatinous Rosin, the Decomposer (yes, it is a poor attempt at a wig on an earthworm), and the Memory Slip.

The first page has a few ideas, but the rest of them are blank so you can customize the charts as you see fit. I find d12s useful for choosing keys. A d4 is useful for simple selections (like major scales vs. minor scales and their variations). There is also a d20 list if you are feeling particularly adventurous for the day. The final page of the PDF has a few more ideas for using dice.

This arrangement of Feel Special (TWICE) is for early-intermediate/intermediate piano. It is written in its original key so that you can play along with the music video. The right hand may be played up an octave for the entire piece to match the vocals (or as written so the hands are closer together). The right hand (RH) has one note at a time; the left hand (LH) has one or two notes at a time. There are some suggested fingers written in the RH when needed. Great as a pedagogical piece for trickier rhythms and coordination between hands.

This arrangement of How Far I'll Go from Moana is for easy piano. Notes are played one at a time (with an accompanying LH whole note) and finger suggestions are written in. The left hand has minimal hand position changes. The right hand has an easier version of the melody's rhythm which can be adapted if sung. Friendly for beginners to follow. Arranged in F major.

This arrangement of Thank You for Being a Friend from The Golden Girls is for intermediate level piano duet (1 piano, 4 hands), based on the T.V. series theme version that is 41 seconds. The primo part can be played as melody-only (with the top voice) or as written. There is hand crossing in the opening page, then the melody is brought up the octave. There is the option to have the melody played an octave higher if preferred (just swap the octave treble clef vs. regular treble clef). For the secondo, the right hand has repeated triad eighth notes. The left hand has some octaves (with the option to omit the lower voice of said octaves for smaller hands).

This arrangement of the Super Mario Bros. Theme is for late-beginner/early-intermediate. There are a few chords in the right hand and single notes in the left hand, with some suggested fingers written in along the way. It was written in the original key so that you can play along with any of the soundtrack recordings. To follow along with recordings, play with repeats to match and restart at mm. 3 for infinite looping. Great as a pedagogical piece for rhythm practice and coordination between hands.

Every April 1st, I try to create a small silly music-related thing for my students. Last year, it was an ear training quiz video (available on YouTube @ClassicalSqueak). This year, I wrote this little waltz with and arranged it with a hint of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up� in the melody as a sight reading exercise. Hope you enjoy! :)
