Violin Duet Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.861856 Arranged by Mark O'Connor, Edgar Meyer. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. 8 pages. Mark O'Connor Musik International #6204361. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861856). Limerock (violin 1 part – two vlns) MO126BViolin 1 Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor4 pages - 2:20 minutes in length Limerock adapted for two violins is an arrangement of one of the most beautiful hoedowns in American fiddling literature. Originally a two part tune, Texas fiddling pioneer Benny Thomasson arranged a version that approximates the one most performed today. Mark O’Connor and Edgar Meyer built upon the Thomasson variations to create a unique and thrilling violin and bass duet that first appeared on O’Connor’s Grammy winning recording, New Nashville Cats. O’Connor has adapted the 2nd part to include viola, cello and doublebass to offer four different versions of the arrangement. Limerock is a fine example of how a tune O’Connor learned by ear as a youth evolved into a virtuoso piece in a classical setting. It is most suitable for advanced and intermediate levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1990 Composed by Mark O’ConnorLimerock can be heard on Appalachian Journey featuring Mark O’Connor, Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, Sony ClassicalLimerock can also be heard on Mark O’Connor’s Crossing Bridges OMAC Records, and The New Nashville Cats Warner Bros. Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.861887 Composed by Mark O'Connor. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. 8 pages. Mark O'Connor Musik International #6205811. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861887). Song Of The Liberty Bell (violin solo part – violin and piano) MO130BViolin Solo Part (score available)Music by Mark O’Connor3 pages - 5:00 minutes in length Song Of The Liberty Bell adapted for violin and piano was composed by Mark O’Connor and used as the theme song for the critically acclaimed PBS documentary, Liberty! The American Revolution. O’Connor wrote the piece to include three different instrument groupings - unaccompanied solo, folk ensemble, and string orchestra. The Sony Classical album Liberty! features Song Of The Liberty Bell in all three arrangements. O’Connor later adapted his piece for violin and piano. Album notes author Thomas Fleming calls the music profoundly moving with exquisite melody. Fleming further describes the orchestral version - O’Connor joins in, and the instruments of the symphony pick up the theme. It is a musical replication of the way the voices of liberty in 1776 began with a lonely defiant few - and then swelled to a tremendous national chorus that has resounded through the world for the next two hundred and thirty-three years. The music is suited for all levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1996 Composed by Mark O’ConnorThe string orchestra version can be heard on Liberty! Poem For Carlita (viola part – vln, vla, cel) MO142CViola Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor6 pages - 8:30 minutes in length Poem For Carlita In contemporary vocal music, there is a form called a story song. It is an odd form in that it does not contain any departure from the central idea; therefore there is no return. The story has a beginning and ending but uses subtle variation to push the idea along its way. .. much the way loving relationships evolve. The equivalent of the story song in classical music is a Poem, and this is what I have called this piece. An inspiration I used for my musical poem was the ocean and it’s repetition of waves as they fall in to the shoreline. I grew up near the ocean and remember how the sounds of the relentless waves used tocalm me. While it was the repetitive sound of the sea that moved me as a child, today, I observed that each wave was not the same but in fact slightly different. I was amazed that it seemed that no two waves looked or sounded the same to me. This natural occurrence seemed to mirror my love for wife Carla. Each day was just something a tiny bit different. It was very natural to make these kinds of life experience connections. Bridges that joined nature, love and art. The poem begins slowly and inquisitively and builds through in intensity with loud and mightily passionate moments of emotion before the music comes down peacefully and reflectively, until the last statement played by the violin signifies that the sea is calm once again. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1998 Composed By Mark O’ConnorOriginally released on Appalachian Journey featuring Mark O’Connor, Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, Sony ClassicalPoem for Carlita can be heard on Mark O'Connor's Crossing Bridges OMAC Recordshttps://omacrecords.com/omac-7-crossing-bridges Catalogue Number MO142CCopyright © 1998 by Mark O’Connor Music InternationalFor more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com
