He is mainly known for his operettas, of which the most successful and best known is The Merry Widow (Die lustige Witwe). Lehár was also associated with the operatic tenor Richard Tauber, who sang in many of his operettas, beginning with a revival of his 1910 operetta Zigeunerliebe in 1920 and then Frasquita [de] in 1922, in which Lehár once again found a suitable post-war style.   He died aged 78 in 1948 in Bad Ischl, near Salzburg, and was buried there. His younger brother Anton became the administrator of his estate, promoting the popularity of Franz Lehár's music.This very pleasant brass band arrangement by Denis Wright was adapted for a brass quintet and percussion to be enjoyed.

A trombone, substitute for horn, is included.

This selection, For Unto Us a Child is Born, from George Frideric Handel's world-famous oratorio, Messiah, would be an excellent addition to any music library. Originally written for a four-part chorus accompanied by a small orchestra, this selection has been arranged for 5 Euphoniums by Regis Bookshar, without losing any of the vitality of the original version. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. It is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services, is suitable for high school, college and professional performers and is one of my all-time favorite arrangements. Included are a score and a complete set of parts written in Bass Clef (32 pages). A version written in Treble Clef is also available, if needed. Handel's original version is written in the key of Concert G, as is this version, but other versions are also available for a variety of instrumental ensembles, both in the original key of Concert G and also in the key of Concert F, to make it a little easier for some younger performers. This arrangement will prove to be a challenge for many players, especially during long passages played using one breath. If you are considering having an organist or other keyboard player perform with this selection, I would suggest that you purchase the version in Concert G rather than the one in Concert F. Also available are numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. Suite No. 4 for Brass Quintet (HMV 429) has a dramatic introductory fugue, followed by the four dances that traditionally comprised such suites (Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue). Georg Friedrich Händel wrote 22 keyboard suites over his lifetime, primarily in his younger years. Not all the suites lend themselves to brass performance, but this one is perfectly suited for such treatment. This arrangement balances the five voices or the quintet evenly, and makes for a wonderful ensemble experience. This edition includes the ornaments, tempos and articulations that convey the spirit of the Baroque. Quintets can follow traditional Baroque terraced dynamics or use a more contemporary approach, as suits their own style. This is the 2nd (proper) string trio which is for the weddings, cocktails, etc. The first movement was based on a question I would ask my younger self in a dream I had where do you angels go? The second movement is based off of the feeling of a good night of sleep which is rare for me much like playing in the key of B flat is. The third movement is a scherzo which starts of wacky but quickly mitigates into happy ending. Finally the last movement is the capturing of seeing the sunrise and sunset after many days of grey and gloom. There is a fragment of Here Comes the Sun which is subtle. This movement being in A major gives the listener the sonority of happiness and joy.

Add other metalophones as needed on differing parts of the beat to increase the sparling effect! Consider doubling the bassoon on vibraphone and the tuba on marimba as needed. This tune is always a crowd pleaser with your younger ensembles!
