As a double-function form, 'Echoes' also employs contrapuntal techniques, bridging the development and recapitulation with a four-voice fugue. The compositional techniques used depict several abstract mathematical concepts. Tonal stability is increased and decreased throughout, particularly in the recitative sections. This changing of tonal stability depicts the intersecting of dimensions. A being existing in a 2-dimensional world, such as an insect on a flat surface, may occasionally get a glimse of 3 dimensions when a 3-dimensional being or object passes through the second dimension. This glimpse, however, on the part of the 2-dimensional being, is incomplete and does not accurately represent a world of a higher dimension. Similarly, at the intersection of our world with an even higher spatial dimension, we would only catch incomplete glimpses of this higher dimension. These polytonal and structural elements depict another concept. While a square is 2-dimensional, and a cube is 3-dimensional, it is possible for an object to exist in between 2 and 3 dimensions (by dividing logarithms). This idea of a fractional dimension is explored as thematic material is pulled between tonal centers, but never truly settling.

(Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.’ The show revolves around four members of the fictitious United States Army Special Forces unit. These are the leader Colonel/Colonel John Hannibal Smith (played by George Peppard), smooth-talking Lieutenant Templeton Peck or Face (Dirk Benedict), pilot Captain H.M. Howling Mad Murdock (Dwight Schultz) and mechanic Sergeant First Class Bosco B.A. Baracus (Mr. T). The main theme was composed by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter, although the version they created was not the same as the theme heard on-screen (which is what this arrangement is of). The theme has been ranked among the best TV themes every written. Interesting, the French version of the theme has lyrics that mirror the spoken description of the English version of the show. In 2010, 20th Century Fox released a feature film based on the series starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley as the A-Team. Alan Silvestri composed the soundtrack. This arrangement of the Main Theme is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for piccolo trumpet, horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. It has been designed to work just as well for indoor performances as outdoor concerts. It also has the band parts reduced down to march-card size for use with a lyre as well as a music stand (making it ideal for events such as Durham Miners' Gala). This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for an Oboe Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players and may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). In addition to this version for 5 Oboes, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

He held concerts in his hometown and also composed and published several sets of concertos, including six concertos under the title of La Cetra (The Lyre), as well as cantatas, arias, canzonets, and violin sonatas. Marcello, being a slightly older contemporary of Antonio Vivaldi, often composed under the pseudonym Eterio Stinfalico, his name as a member of the celebrated Arcadian Academy (Pontificia Accademia degli Arcadi). He died in Padua in 1747.Alessandro's brother was the more well-known Benedetto Marcello, also a composer.Although most of his works are infrequently performed today, Marcello is regarded as a very competent composer. His La Cetra concertos are unusual for their wind solo parts, concision and use of counterpoint within a broadly Vivaldian style, according to Grove, placing them as a last outpost of the classic Venetian Baroque concerto.[citation needed]The Concerto for Oboe and Strings in D minor op. 1, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo.
