All of the selected poems for this cycle were published in 1915 in the book entitled Love Songs. Teasdale’s texts indeed have inner music, and it seems like they are just calling to become songs.Performers should take as much freedom as they want, and follow the natural flow of phrases. This cycle is all about being a duet, not one instrument accompanying another.
