Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #858250. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1265431). John Bull was an English composer, organist, virginalist, and organ builder who lived from 1562/63 to 1628. He was educated as a chorister of the Chapel Royal in London and later became a doctor of music at the universities of both Oxford and Cambridge. Bull was one of the most famous composers of keyboard music of the early 17th century, and most of his compositions were written for the virginal, a keyboard instrument popular in the Renaissance period. He was known for his outstanding technical ability and keyboard virtuosity, and his music is distinguished by unfailing resourcefulness in devising new musical ideas. Bull's reputation rests on his extensive compositions for virginals and organ, some 150 extant pieces, published in Musica Britannica. He was also one of the contributors to Parthenia, a collection of keyboard music published in 1611. Bull wrote an anthem, God the Father, God the Son, for the wedding in 1613 of the Princess and the Elector Palatine, in addition to his keyboard compositions, verse anthems, canons, and other works. Bull's music ranked among the foremost composers along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins.John Bull had several contemporaries who were also prominent composers during the Renaissance period. Some of these composers include:William Byrd: Byrd was an English composer and one of the most influential figures in English Renaissance music. He was a contemporary of John Bull and is considered one of the greatest composers of his time. Byrd's compositions include sacred choral music, keyboard works, and consort music.Orlando Gibbons: Gibbons was an English composer and organist who lived during the same period as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, particularly his anthems and verse anthems. Their expressive harmonies and intricate counterpoint characterize Gibbons' compositions.Thomas Tomkins: Tomkins was another English composer active during the same time as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, including anthems and services. Tomkins' compositions are notable for their rich harmonies and expressive melodies.Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck: Sweelinck was a Dutch composer and organist who was highly regarded during the Renaissance period. He was known for his keyboard music, particularly his variations and fantasies. Sweelinck's compositions had a significant influence on Bull and other composers of the time. These composers, along with John Bull, were influential figures in the development of Renaissance music and made significant contributions to the repertoire of keyboard and choral music during that era.

Saxophone - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q18134 For Soprano (or Alto) Saxophone solo. Composed by Thierry Pecou. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 6 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q18134. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q18134). The composition Perroquets d’azur owes its existence to the oboist François Leleux who issued the commission in 1993 and gave the first performance of the work. The composition was quasi reborn when the saxophonist Nicolas Prost persuaded me to produce an arrangement for saxophone which was premiered in 2008. In adherence to a compositional tradition which attempts to transfer a polyphonic structure to a monodic instrument and simultaneously inspired by the folkloristic music I heard on my first journeys to Cuba and Mexico, it was my intention to communicate an impression of the multifaceted complex rhythmic polyphony characterising Afro-Cuban music. The piece exploits all registers of the oboe and additionally incorporates the brief incipit of a Yoruban chant in praise of the god Changó. The music develops in an atmosphere of increasing effervescence, culminating in an intensification of the rhythmic nucleus of Afro-Cuban music: the clave.

Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Andreas Rothkopf. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q47957. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47957). Key: B minor. The Sonata in B minor undoubtedly is the most important piano composition by Franz Liszt and a pinnacle of piano literature. The creation of the work around 1850 coincides with the period in which Liszt concentrated on the organ and its possibilities of sound and expression as well as on the music by Johann Sebastian Bach. Liszt composed several works for organ himself and arranged both some of his own works and works by other composers for this versatile instrument. While working on the arrangement, Andreas Rothkopf acted on the maxim to stay close to the original work with its finely nuanced texture and find his own tonal language appropriate for the organ on the basis of Liszt. For a better understanding of the arrangement, the interpreter may want to have a profound knowledge of the original piano text.

In this solo piano work, Corey de Baat wanted to experiment with different styles of music and different ways of writing music. The piece consists of 4 short movements all based on these aspects. The first movement is called Math where the composer added and subtracted different numbers of beats to create an uneven pulse throughout. The second movement is a traditional rag. The Third movement is in the style of music found in the Japanese television genre Anime. And the final movement was just the composers attempt to try something completely different.

Mark O'Connor Musik International #6206213. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861909). Brave Wolfe (violin part – trumpet and violin) MO108CViolin Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor4 pages - 7:00 minutes in length Brave Wolfe for trumpet and violin is a piece by Mark O’Connor based on an old traditional ballad. It was recorded by O’Connor and Wynton Marsalis for the album Liberty!. The recording was also used throughout the film documentary produced for PBS, Liberty! The American Revolution. This may very well be the first duet ever written for trumpet and violin. Summarized as a triumph by album notes writer Thomas Fleming, he goes on to characterize the duet by saying Marsalis’ sound echoes the noble sadness of this celebration of the heroic death of British General James Wolfe before Quebec in 1759. The piece turns into a musical gallop, evoking the surging seesaw battle Wolfe’s army fought outside the walls of the fortress city. We have a collaboration between the trumpet wizardry of Wynton Marsalis and Mark O’Connor’s extraordinary virtuosity on the fiddle. The music is suited for advanced levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1997 Public Domain Arranged by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on Liberty! String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.866856 Composed by Early American Folk Song. Arranged by Erik Kihss. Christian,Folk,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 16 pages. Erik Kihss Digital Publishing #4885477. Published by Erik Kihss Digital Publishing (A0.866856). This hymn tune is early American, composer unknown. The text for There's a Wideness.... has been set to several other melodies, most notably Wellesley but I found this version in the Evangelical Lutheran Church hymnal (ELW 588) and was attracted by the pentatonic folk melody. This setting incorporates Coplanesque harmonies and some bluegrass-like violins. The tune is also sometimes known as Lord Revive Us.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1264867 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Early Music,Folk,Irish,Wedding. Octavo. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #857706. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1264867). This lovely folksong is thought to have come from Scotland, though similar versions have been recorded in other parts of Britain. The song is also known as O Waly, Waly which means something like “woe is meâ€. For such an old song, it is not surprising that there are many variations of the lyrics. An early version of the modern lyrics was consolidated by the British folksong collector Cecil Sharp in 1906, using multiple older sources in southern England. There are many sets of lyrics with different story-lines. This was because in the past, performers would often create new lyrics for the song. This melody has attracted an entire family of lyrics many of which bear little relationship to each other. The words used in this choral arrangement reflect the popular lyrics used during the twentieth century. The song was arranged for voice and piano in 1948 by British composer Benjamin Britten but in more recent times, was made popular by many folk singers notably Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. It has become one of the most popular folk songs today, largely because of its beautiful tune. But as with the lyrics, there are many variations on the melody with the result that no single variation can be considered the “correct†one. This SAB arrangement by Colin Kirkpatrick is ideal for high school or college choir, especially if the tenor/bass section is a bit low on numbers. Each section of the choir has the melody line at some point and there are attractive and evocative counter-melodies. In the soprano part (which has one brief divisi section), the highest note is G5 (which occurs only once and safely approached) and the highest note in the alto part is C5 (in the middle of the treble staff). The bartione part lies between A flat 2 (bottom space in bass clef) and D3 (just above the staff). The piano part is an integral part of the arrangement and therefore essential. The music begins in E flat and modulates to C major. Running at just over three minutes, the work is sure to be popular with choir and audiences alike.

Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music (AX.00-PR-0002824). UPC: 038081378008.A frenetic pace characterizes this piece written in the true Italian style of the 6/8 couples dance. Thought to have been danced to ward off the effects of the bite of the tarantula spider, there's nothing that severe here---just a wonderful, percussive rondo. The piece features some lively syncopation and ends with an extended finish that gets more rousing with each passing measure. Your audiences will be tapping their feet from the opening measure, and your orchestra will want to play it over and over.Closer; Concert/Contest; Festival.
