Small Ensemble Cello,Flute,High Voice,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.800331 Composed by Sarah Wallin Huff. Contemporary. Score and parts. 43 pages. Novel Soundtrax #11219. Published by Novel Soundtrax (A0.800331). This work by Sarah Wallin is a vocal text setting for soprano, flute, cello, and piano, completed in 2008. According to Dr. Edward David Zeliff, Fair Katrinelje... is very interesting, clever, witty, and captures the quirky little scenario of this poor fellow trying so hard to line up a bride by having to go through the firewall of her entire family and then having enough umph left over to get her attention as well. It's very Stravinskyish, and the charm and humor comes through. The story of Fair Katrinelje and Pif-Paf-Poltrie is a lesser-known fairy tale found in the Children's and Household Tales of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the famous Brothers Grimm. Fair Katrinelje and Pif-Paf-Poltrie is a comedic dialogue. Our hero, Pif-Paf-Poltrie, is out to seek the hand of his beloved, the Fair Katrinelje, in marriage. Being the gentleman that he is, he approaches in turn each member of his beloved's family to ask their permission. Father Hollenthe, Mother Malcho, Brother High-and-Mighty, and Sister Käsetraut all respond in turn similarly – essentially, If it's all right with everyone else, it's all right with me. The challenge for the vocalist is to convey the essence and the hilarity of the dialogue by highlighting, with the mannerisms of the voice, the attitudes and characteristics of each character speaking. Above each character's lines, it is made clear whom it is that is speaking and the emotional context within which it is being spoken. The vocalist has complete freedom to effect these roles in whatever manner and to whatever degree is deemed appropriate, provided the musical integrity of the work is kept intact.

It showcases various characteristics of these magnificent animals, providing a fresh perspective on equestrian-inspired band music. The piece begins serenely and then snaps into excitement like a horse galloping across rolling hills, a depiction of majestic galloping music. To illustrate the range of characters expressed by horses, various instruments and combinations are utilized, showcasing instrumental combinations in band music. The B Section introduces a more suspenseful, cinematic feel, typical of suspenseful band sections, ultimately leading to a key change to F Major. This key change brings a triumphant and brighter iteration of the original theme, culminating in a strong finish, embodying the essence of a triumphant band finale.Stallion is perfect for those looking for horse-themed band compositions, rich equestrian heritage music, and fresh perspective band pieces. Ideal for the Honor Band Clinic composition, this piece is sure to captivate with its depiction of the playful nature of horses and the cinematic band composition elements. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022803 Composed by Yoonjee Kim. Contemporary,Standards,World. Score and parts. 14 pages. Yoonjee Kim #3417603. Published by Yoonjee Kim (A0.1022803). 共(gong) equals co- in English which means with, together, joint, and jointly. The original concept of the piece is based on the dual personality, meaning two completely opposing characteristics are coexisting in an individual. The two characters, A and B, keep appearing alternatively and sometimes one interrupts the other by revealing itself under the existence of the other. This concept is realized musically in the piece through the contrast and collaboration between the Tri-tone and the Perfect 4th, in other words, the dissonance versus consonance. The work is a single movement music consisting of four small sections: introduction of the dissonance, introduction of the consonance, the intervention of two sonorities to each other, and the resolution. The relationship between these two opposite sonorities creates the tension and relaxation throughout the piece. They are first introduced separately, constantly alternated in different instruments, and then gradually interrupting and manipulating each other.

Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977046). This set of six variations is based on a theme made only of chords. The theme is quiet and simple, yet as the variations begin adding rhythms, melodies and textures, various musical styles, characters and dramatic expressions appear. When certain variations take on characteristics of jazz or salsa, audience members might even forget that they are still hearing the same basic chord structure. This piece is written so that almost any number of players can take turns performing it on either one, or two pianos. When fewer players perform the piece, one pianist can play two or three of the easier parts simultaneously. The minimum number of performers needed is four, but to facilitate the playing of cross rhythms, some groups may prefer 5 or 6 players in some variations. The music is written on 5 separate staves with suggestions of where and how to rotate players in and out of the performance, but performers should feel free to divide the parts between themselves in any way that works for them.   Videos of two different performances can be seen at the following links:http://paulsg.net/Videos/MHVariations.movhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4jbIXK1LiQ&feature=youtu.be

Many of them have developed their unique stylistic expression and zest with sorts of articulation, which are not to be completed by those of many Western instruments. The composer has long been delving into the characteristics of these traditional instruments, attempting to ferret out further musical meanings from different formal and aesthetic angles. Searching for Cheng and Orchestra, commissioned by the Cheng player Hao-Yin Huang, was originally a solo Cheng piece. It was completed in mid-April, 2005, and was premiered in the same year at the 25th meeting of the Asia Composers’ League held in Bangkok, Thailand. The composer later expanded it into an ensemble piece for Cheng and orchestra, trying to integrate different timbral characters of the Eastern and Western instruments within their dominant-subordinate interactions and dialogues in the piece.

Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1134936). Juan María Solare: Bubbles, Floating Bubbles - a polyrhythmic etude Concert etude composed in Bremen (2-3 July) and Worpswede (5 July 2010). Duration: 4:30 (if the repetition -from bar 28 to the end- is being played; if not, 3 minutes). Bublles, Floating Bubbles - by Juan María Solare Bubbles, Floating Bubbles on Youtube: Bubbles, Floating Bubbles on Spotify: This composition is a concert etude, since it can be performed at a recital (and not only used to practice). The degree of virtuosity is relatively low, but nevertheless not suitable for absolute beginners. Technically, the main characteristic of this piece is the polyrhythm 2 against 3: the melody subdivides the quarter in 2, and the accompaniment plays triplets. In this sense, an answer to Carl Czerny's polyrhythmic studie in E major. Please use abundant pedal when playing this piece. The idea is to generate a cloud of sound, not a machinal pattern. The sound character of this piece should be closer to Debussy than to Scarlatti. The initial indication scorrevole (fleeting) should orientate the character and the sound quality, the touch. Fermatas and caesuras should add time to the bar, like breathing in. In bar 8 (end) the silence is only in he left hand: the note of the right hand shouldn't be interrupted. This is actually clear if one read the rhythms carefully, but my experience tells me that it is prudent to underline this particular point. In bar 16 (and similar places), left hand: it is the central melody what should be in foreground, not the bass. Imagine that the melody is played by a cello or viola, and the bass by a double bass (or better: a bassoon). Try to achieve a different timbre and to separate therefore both layers. The title refers to this poem: Sum venti ingenium breve Flos sum, scilicet, aeris …… Sum blandum, petulans, vagum, Pulchrum, purpureum, et decens, Comptum, floridulum, et recens. Richard Crashaw -Jacobean English poet- (1613-1649), Bulla (Bubble) I am the brief nature of the wind To be sure, I am the flower of air ...... Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1373704 Composed by Chris Knapp. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 52 pages. Chris Knapp #958094. Published by Chris Knapp (A0.1373704). Kabuki pieces takes influence and inspiration from Japanese Kabuki theatre productions. In this work, the main aspects of Kabuki theatre are explored through the 'deconstructed' Orchestra. Kabuki theatre employs the principles of jo-ha-kyu which helps sets the pace for a dramatic play. Jo-ha-kyustates that a play should start slow, get quicker and end fast. Kabuki employs this technique over a series of 5 acts, hence this composition uses 5 movements and the pace of the work as a whole speeds up as it moves through.1. Introduction - Like with all good pieces of theatre, the first act sets the scene and establishes characters. In this compositon, the scene is set by the Cello accompanied by a selection of percussion (a characteristic trait of Kabuki theatre).2. Battle #1 - In Kabuki theatre there are always a number of battles, these usually occur during the 2nd and 4th acts. This composition similarly mimics the chaos of a battle and features the Woodwind section.3. Tragedy - During the 3rd act, a Tragedy or emotional event usually occurs, thus this composition hopes to mirror that with an emotional outpouring of melodic ideas introducing the Brass.4. Battle #2 - In the 2nd battle of this work, the feature is placed more on the Xylophone who takes a solo role and sets out a frantic tune which provides the basis for a Fugue of sorts picked up by the Strings.5. Conclusion - The conclusion to most Kabuki plays are satisfying and short, this is mirrored by the very brief conclusion to this work.

It comprises three movements in different characters, which can be easily identified by the audience. The first movement, Allegro con brio, is in sonata form. The first theme is majestic and powerful with dualistic motifs, one of which leads to the mild subordinate theme. The unfolding of the whole movement is based upon the contrast between the two themes. The form of the second movement is freer. The slow song-like introduction is like poem-reciting, and the main theme follows it. The movement comprises four sections, which are coalesced by the common motifs among them. The last movement is Scherzo - Allegro Vivace. The ample width of its rhythmic change brings different shades of delight, sometimes witty, brisk; sometimes majestic, agitated, throaty, etc. Nevertheless, the diversity never eclipses the musical coherence. It is the characteristic, as well as the very highlight, of the piece. The pianist in the world premiere in Regensburg was Prof. K. Pfeiffer, and the first public performance of this piece in Taiwan is presented by the pianist Hsu Tzu-Chen.
