Small Ensemble Pan Pipe,Piano,Trumpet,Tubular Bells,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976861 Composed by Monica Bergo. Contemporary,Halloween. Score and parts. 43 pages. Monica Bergo #3238977. Published by Monica Bergo (A0.976861). 2017 Holiday Contest EntryNEMESIS I enter the room of my consciousness That incredible disorder I rummage through the drawers Where I keep sufferings And the ineradicable memories Dust that knows of regret Spider webs cover my time, I recompose pieces of life But I'm here for you Fleeting shadow   And my face reflects, Inside you My nemesis, my alter ego You reflect me and then Are a dark ghost The imperfect and the unsaid I will let you be what you are, My soul, black and rending. If you destroy my image It does not matter Finally that door remains open   And opening the border between dream and reality I stumble among people at my funeral Who cry, who laugh, It is my Carnival I look at them from above, a spectral profile   Rush down into the void that I have inside Nobody hugs me, I touch the silence, Slow-motion of a movie without more viewers, Close the curtain of the world outside and ... and ...   The snow falls , how cold it is For this actress without identity I escape from the frost of my uncertainties But there is no refuge save me from she Who is heat, but to hurt Is my animal instinct   I'm alone in this storm But certainly I do not regret Your mood swings, your sterile love Even without, I will survive   My nemesis now dominates Be careful! If she comes for you She destroys you, crushes you, is cruel and savage, And then she will laugh in your face   And sitting here on the bank of my river I'm waiting for you to pass this way Naked and without arrogance I'll never get enough This dance that gives me joy   And in the darkness I move safe and stealthy  (what are you?) I'm not afraid of anything and I feel wicked  (you are lost now)   Souls dancing to the beat of their sins  (you like us) In this limbo I disown my past days  (and so will you be...)   Wind and storm I'm not just this, The rumble of thunder I don't understand any longer which side I’m on And it goes against the wind and sharpens my torment I'm hungry for the Sun Nemesis cannot dominate me   My nemesis is here, Is stronger than ever And I know that she is reaching for me And it’s she who does not know Ever to stop halfway, Is Lady of Vice and Deception She seizes me , she exhausts me because She does not accept the peace that I have inside She has no balance, Makes me waver, And frustrates what I have achieved   Tell me that you'll disappear As a dream in the morning light And will be, within me, A memory clouded by time   I leave the room of my consciousness To make order is impossible Strange this drawer, not only sufferings But something relentless Nemesis, it is no longer your time By now your fire is spent And I will be born again to enchantment By words and music Food for the soul ...   Monica Bergo

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1502724 Composed by William Billings. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Early Music,Historic,Traditional. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #1078394. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1502724). William Billings' hymn Africa is a notable composition in early American music history. Here are some key points about its significance: Musical CharacteristicsAfrica is one of Billings' most ecstatic and stirring hymns. It showcases his distinctive style of four-part choral writing, typically performed as a cappella. The piece likely features Billings' characteristic use of forceful harmonies and elaborate fugal sections. Historical ContextAs part of Billings' repertoire, Africa represents an important milestone in American musical development: It was composed during the late 18th century when Billings established himself as America's first professional composer. The hymn was likely included in one of Billings' published collections, such as The New England Psalm-Singer (1770) or The Singing Master's Assistant (1776).Cultural ImpactAfrica contributed to Billings' reputation as a pioneering figure in American music, helping popularize his work throughout the Northern and Middle States. The hymn was likely performed in church choirs and singing schools, critical cultural institutions of the time. As part of Billings' body of work, Africa played a role in establishing a distinctly American musical tradition separate from European influences.Enduring LegacyWhile Billings' popularity waned during his lifetime, his music, including Africa, has experienced a revival: It remains part of the repertoire performed by American choral groups, particularly those specializing in early music. Africa is listed among Billings' notable works in modern references, indicating its continued recognition. Africa stands as an example of Billings' innovative and influential contributions to early American sacred music.

Piano,Voice Duet Piano,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534403 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Christian,Concert,Sacred,Standards. 15 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3457407. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534403). This is one of two duets that Leguerney wrote for Geneviève Touraine and her brother, the famous French baritone Gérard Souzay. It was completed on 21 January 1950. The first performance, with Souzay and Touraine, was 21 June 1950 in the Parisian Salle Gaveau with Jacqueline Robin (Bonneau) at the piano.  Previously unpublished, De l’abîme profond, was first recorded by soprano Danielle Borst and baritone Philippe Huttenlocher with Mary Dibbern at the piano. This was for the CD 50-9618, 28 Mélodies issued by Claves Records-Radio Suisse Romande: Espace 2 in 1996. The recording was recognized with the Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie Charles Cros. The US premiere performance was by soprano Jill Pearon and baritone David Pittman-Jennings, accompanied by Mary Dibbern, during a recital at the Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam, New York, 23 October 2007. The vocal range for the soprano line is C1-G#2 and for the baritone line is B-F1. The text’s poet, Jean de La Céppède (1550-1622), was born in Marseille and spent most of his life working as a lawyer and magistrate in Aix–en–Provence. His principal work, Théorèmes, consists of 515 sonnets dealing with the life of Jesus Christ and the “sacred mysteries of our redemption.†La Céppède’s poem is a translation of a psalm by David from the Old Testament of the Bible. Leguerney also set a psalm of David for medium voice and chamber orchestra, which was premiered by Gérard Souzay in 1954. This orchestral Psaume LXII de David is also published by Musik Fabrik. The French author Jean Roy, reviewing this duet in Le Monde de la Musique (January, 1997), wrote: “There is a grandeur and a dramatic sentiment that surpasses [a] work that one might dismiss as minor.†For a detailed discussion of the music and both a word-by-word English translation and International Phonetic Alphabet transcription of the French text, see The Songs of Jacques Leguerney: A Guide for Study and Performance by Mary Dibbern, Carol Kimball and Patrick Choukroun.
