Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311675 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Chamber,Romantic Period. 69 pages. RayThompsonMusic #900670. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1311675). Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet)The Holberg Suite, Op. 40, more properly From Holberg's Time (Norwegian: Fra Holbergs tid, German: Aus Holbergs Zeit), subtitled Suite in olden style (Norwegian: Suite i gammel stil, German: Suite im alten Stil), is a suite of five movements based on eighteenth century dance forms, written by Edvard Grieg in 1884 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dano-Norwegian humanist playwright Ludvig Holberg. It exemplifies nineteenth century music which makes use of musical styles and forms from the preceding century. The movements of the suite are:Praeludium (Allegro vivace)Sarabande (Andante)Gavotte (Allegretto)Air (Andante religioso)Rigaudon (Allegro con brio)The Holberg Suite was originally composed for the piano, but a year later was adapted by Grieg himself for string orchestra. The suite consists of an introduction and a set of dances. It is an early essay in neoclassicism, an attempt to echo as much as was known in Grieg's time of the music of Holberg's era.Although it is not as famous as Grieg's incidental music from Peer Gynt, which is itself usually performed as arranged in a pair of suites, many critics regard the works as of equal merit. I have reduced the tempi in both the prelude and rigaudon. This makes it more playable as a wind player, but still maintains the musicality of the piece. The prelude is quite a long blow for a wind player, and is quite a challenge.

Viola and piano - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11679 For viola and piano. Composed by Bertold Hummel. This edition: Sheet music. Viola Library. Downloadable. Nach op. 103b. Duration 3 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q11679. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11679). With his 'Concerto classico' composed in 1999, Bertold Hummel enables violin pupils with only limited technical skills to play an entire little violin concerto. The second movement, Elegy, is now also available as a separate edition for viola and piano. The melody of the Finnish folk song forming the thematic foundation of the movement is melancholy and gentle: a short simple theme which is introduced and then varied several times. To master this piece, it is sufficient for the violist to command the first position, and the piano part is easy to play as well. An ideal piece for pupils, competitions and for music-making at home.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.958455 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century. Score. 2 pages. David Warin Solomons2 #3689621. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.958455). The Cadenza to the First Movement of W. A. Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor, K. 491, was composed in 1975 for Dillon Ford's personal use as soloist in performances at Florida International University. Since no Mozart cadenza survives for this, perhaps the most romantic of all the Mozart concertos, he consciously set out to create his own cadenza in a kind of hybrid style that is as much redolent of the Viennese Ländler as it is of the Brahms waltzes. Nor did he hesitate to introduce such stylistically advanced features as the concluding double trills, which are virtually unknown in Mozart's keyboard compositions. He believes the result is a concise but effective classico-romantic cadenza in quasi-improvisatory style well suited to its original purpose. He offers it to the pianist who is seeking musically engaging material that has as yet been little heard during public performances of what is perhaps Mozart's greatest contribution to the piano concerto genre.

Duet Clarinet in Bb, Cello - Intermediate / Advanced - Digital Download SKU: D3.SM-05-0002F Composed by Jack Curtis Dubowsky. Instrumental Duet. Jean Racine's (1639-1699) tragedy Andromaque (1667) inspired these duets. Contemporary. Sheet music; Two copies. 36 pages. De Stijl Music Digital #SM-05-0002F. Published by De Stijl Music Digital (D3.SM-05-0002F). 8.5 x 11 inches.Bongatelles is a pun in homage to Erik Satie's whimsical titles. Satie also found inspiration in Greek antiquity and French literature, most notably his Socrate. Jean Racine's (1639-1699) tragedy Andromaque (1667) inspired these duets. Racine took his characters from Greek and Roman stories and adapted or created new situations for them in accordance with baroque fascination with neo-classicism in literature. Andromaque is a love quadrangle in which all who love die or go insane. Only the prisoner-queen Andromaque, who is incapable of love, survives. Andromaque, icy cold, rejects amorous advances from her captor Phyrrus. She plots her survival, trying desperately to save her infant son Astyanax from the Greek ambassador Oreste who would have her Trojan line finished off for good. The baby Astyanax sleeps silently, unaware of the deadly drama surrounding him. Does he nap peacefully? Or does he dream, like his mother, of revenge for the death of his conquered father, the great Trojan warrior king Hector? Phyrrus awkwardly tries to sweet-talk his captive Andromaque into marriage. She rejects him until he becomes furious and threatens to kill her son Astyanax unless she agrees to wed. Phyrrus alternates between threats and cajoling. Hermione loves Phyrrus, who decides to marry Andromaque instead. She rejects her own suitor Oreste, until she vengefully has him kill Phyrrus. Oreste does her bidding, only to be rewarded by a final rejection. She accuses Oreste of being a murderous monster. When Hermione sees the body of Phyrrus, she kills herself. The Greek soldier and ambassador Oreste sailed to Epire to persuade King Phyrrus to kill or hand over the infant Astyanax, last of the line of Troy. Oreste is torn between duty and love for usury Hermione. Her broken promises and final rejection affect him profoundly. Oreste goes insane upon learning of her death.
