The piano can be made to sound many ways, smooth, gleaming bright, jangling and rambunctious, even like a drum with keys. I hope to have covered most of these aspects of the pianistic touch in this set of etudes. The final item uses each interval in turn, then paired with the next-largest unit, moving through the entire group. Then, the right hand moves through all of them with a pedal point, followed by a similar exposition in the left. Arpeggios and chords ring out at the end, in a similar fashion to the summation that is the final Valse in Ravel Noble and Sentimental set.
