This is a wholly new and original transcription, done solely by Berklee graduate and guitar instructor Dan Chernow, and has never before been available until now. By far the most popular and important song from Rush's early catalog, 'Working Man' is a prime example of what made Rush blow people's minds in the early/mid 70s. The power and influence from this song alone can be felt echoing throughout every album of their career: each time you hear Alex bash out a power chord riff, take you on a wild ride with a solo, or hear Geddy and Alex synced up playing a powerful or complex riff, THIS is where it came from. The song itself is a marvelous journey into what a couple of supremely talented kids with a guitar and a bass can do. This is the ever-popular Good King Wenceslas Christmas-time carol set for mixed brass quartet (two trumpets, one trombone, one tuba). This famous melody takes many twists and turns and is handed between parts many times. Elements of jazz tonality and 20th century harmonies are sprinkled in, but just enough to tweak the ear, yet entertain a wide audience. A few liberties are taken with rhythms to add additional complexity, yet- as always with my arrangements- ossia and performance options are included to facilitate performances by still-developing musicians.
