String Ensemble,String Quintet Cello - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813385 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 44 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209779. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813385). Violoncello Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Violoncello Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players. It may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). In addition to this version for 5 Violoncellos, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.873044 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Contemporary. 12 pages. Sally Whitwell #6130719. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873044). If you really pushed me to make a call, Mussorsgky’s Pictures at an Exhibition would be one of my favourite pieces in the classical repertoire. Somewhat outrageously, for a pianist, I prefer the colours and textures of the orchestrated version. I reasonably regularly listen to it, especially in transit. But to be honest, it’s not the kind of music that I perform all that often i.e. music by dead, white, male composers. I mean, it’s 2020 and as the meme says I can’t believe I still have to protest this sh*t. And I feel it too for those in the visual art world. I mean, things are a good deal better over there in contemporary art world, where women are exhibited regularly and everyone seems to embrace it without a fuss. As for women artists from centuries gone by, it’s less good news but they’re working on it. I’m reminded of the situation daily as my older brother, who is excellent at choosing gifts thoughtfully, gave me some Guerrilla Girls merchandise which I use as an iPad cover. Entitled Advantages of Being a Woman Artist, it’s a list of truths that’s pretty relatable for any creative woman. My favourite bit - Being reassured that whatever kind of art you make it will be labeled feminine. Ooft. Too real. And so I conceived of this song cycle as a kind of gift for those fighting the traditional, patriarchal structures of the entire creative sector. Three songs, inspired by three works by three wonderful Australian women artists of last century. All are depictions of scenes around Sydney Harbour. In-curve is inspired by Grace Cossington Smith’s The Bridge in-curve, a depiction of an unfinished Sydney Harbour Bridge, painted in 1930 The Code is inspired by Thea Proctor’s woodcut print Women with fans. It is thought to be a portrait of two other artists, printmakers Ethel Spowers and Eveline Syme, sitting above Rushcutters Bay. Where would we sail? is inspired by a very different view of the same location Still life and Rushcutters Bay by Margaret Olley.

Instrumental Solo,Piano,Piccolo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549156 Composed by W. A. MOZART (1756 - 1791). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Easter,Standards. Score and individual part. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #3454757. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549156). Mozart: Ave verum corpus K. 618. Duration: 2:30 Score: 4 pg, Solo part: 1 pg, Piano part: 2 pg. This is an amazing masterpiece of music written by one of the greatest composers in our history. This popular piece by Mozart was composed only 6 months before his untimely death in 1791. Mozart wrote this on commission while working on the Magic Flute. Program this for Lent or Easter meditations, or any Christian communion service. Also, this would be a strong recital encore showing mastery of phrasing, tone quality, and dynamics.

Various - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1104 Composed by Various. Arranged by Gunnar Eriksson. Octavo. 89 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1104. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1104). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.French and Swedish folksongs are the foundation for the models of improvisation and arrangements that are presented in this booklet for choirs on all levels. The idea of this book is to provide the choral conductor and the choir with a way into a somewhat more liberated way of working less tied to sheet music. Or if you wish: let the ears be more important than the eyes, and the body more important than the brain in the first encounter with the music. I present some simple, more or less ancient, ideas on composition and collective improvisation. You can create your own building kits, which in turn can develop into soundscapes. This can also serve as an invitation to the choir to, in a playful manner, approach the contemporary music and its ways of expression. - Gunnar ErikssonNotes in Swedish, French and English.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533319 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343097. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533319). This charming piano solo was first performed by its dedicatee, Jacques Leguerney’s good friend and muse ThĂ©rĂšse Cahen (1897-1944), in the Salle Debussy-Pleyel. They met around 1925. Cahen was the first person outside of his family to encourage his musical aspirations. For years, they met every Saturday to read through and discuss his music. She not only helped him with piano and harmony, but also performed his early chamber works, recruiting from her entourage to help him find high level interpreters for his music. Other early Leguerney works that she premiered included the Trio pour violon, violoncello et piano; the Sonatine pour flĂ»te et piano; and two vocal chamber works presented by the SociĂ©tĂ© Musicale IndĂ©pendente (S. M. I.), Epitaphe guerriĂšre and Clair de lune for voice, flute and piano. Their friendship lasted until Cahen was deported from Paris on July 31, 1944, only a few weeks prior to the Liberation of Paris. Working with the Center of the Union GĂ©nĂ©rale des IsraĂ©lites de France in Saint-MandĂ© (a Parisian suburb), ThĂ©rĂšse Cahen had dedicated herself to the care of children of deported French parents. She left Paris with these children in the Convoy 77, and was taken to the gas chamber of Auschwitz. She left a letter for him, along with her grand piano, which remained in his apartment until his death. My dear Jacques,It is impossible to write on this little page how much I have appreciated your kindness toward me for years and years, and how much happiness this has given me: there have been thousands of Saturdays, and I thought of them every day of the week. Probably you didn’t realize the influence you have had on me: it seems that my whole personality, my way of thinking and feeling has been transformed by you; it is a very deep imprint. If I am taken and in consequence you read this letter, tell yourself that I will continue to count the Saturdays in order to have an idea of the number of songs composed during my absence and that I will be delighted to hear them when I return. If I don’t return, I definitely want you to keep my piano but I don’t think it will happen and I say that I will see you soon.Very tenderly,ThĂ©rĂšsePS Speaking of tenderness, I think with emotion about the little passage concerning tenderness in your latest song.[La Fontaine d’HĂ©lĂšne]

Un poco allegroII. LargoIII. VivaceWilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710–1784) was the eldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach and an influential composer and keyboardist in his own right. He was known for his virtuosic improvisations and is credited with creating the genre of chamber music for two keyboards. W.F. Bach was a master of the Baroque style and his music has been called “strikingly modern”. His keyboard works are full of brilliant ornamentation, vivid rhythms, and intense emotion. He wrote several sonatas for two keyboards, which are some of his most renowned works. These duets feature both players working in tandem to create a unified whole. W.F. Bach's pieces are highly inventive, often exploring new ideas in harmony, form, and rhythm. W.F. Bach was an important contributor to the Baroque style and to the development of keyboard music. His influence is still felt today in the works of composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. His two-keyboard duets remain some of the most exciting and engaging pieces of the Baroque era.
