Alto Recorder,Recorder Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1046759 By Keith Terrett. By Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Individual part. 5 pages. Keith Terrett #651269. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1046759). An arrangement of one of Puccini’s greatest arias for Treble Recorder & Piano. Great piece to improve your bell canto style of playing. Take a listen to Conrad Gozzo’s playing on the Tutti Trumpet CD for a fine example! Quando me'n vo', also known as Musetta's Waltz, is a soprano aria, a waltz in act two of Puccini's 1896 opera La bohème. It is sung by Musetta, in the presence of her bohemian friends, hoping to reclaim the attention of her occasional boyfriend Marcello. This scene takes place at the Café Momus [fr]. Shortly after Mimì, Rodolfo, and their friends have taken seats for a drink, Marcello's former girlfriend, Musetta, shows up with her current patron, the elderly Alcindoro. They quarrel for a bit, then the episode begins as Musetta initiates her move on Marcello. She grabs the spotlight, musically speaking, for a short self-promoting aria (Quando me'n vo'). It is a song directed at the people in the café as much as at the audience in the theater. Popular renditions of the melody were produced during the 1950s, including an American Top 40 hit by Sammy Kaye (You) and a version by Della Reese (Don't You Know?), which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. You will find more Italian arias and Neapolitan songs in my Sibelius & ArrangeMe stores.

Small Ensemble Cello,English Horn,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828699 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 37 pages. Guido Menestrina #119775. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828699). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Primo Movimento - Allegro Karl Friedrich Abel - Symphony Op. 7 n. 1 - First Movement - Allegro Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen,[3][4] a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787.[citation needed] One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN3mtmg-rLI.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317490 Composed by Johann Simon Mayr. Arranged by Fabrizio Capitanio & Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,Instructional,Opera,Romantic Period. 110 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #906154. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1317490). Johann Simon Mayr (1763—1845) is a composer rarely performed today. His music, reflecting the transition from the Classical to the Romantic musical era, inspired Rossini and was crucial in the development of Donizetti’s style. He became a central figure in the musical life of the Italian city of Bergamo where, in 1805, he founded the Conservatory, at the time known as “Lezioni Caritatevoli di Musicaâ€. One of the first pupils of the “Lezioni†was Gaetano Donizetti, whose production and fame soon arose above everyone else’s. The first concerto, in C major, is one of the three surviving keyboard concertos from Mayr’s manuscripts kept in the Biblioteca Musicale Gaetano Donizetti and in the Museo Donizettiano. It is pedagogical in nature, its light orchestration (only 2 oboes and 2 horns joining the strings) allowing it to be performed with minimal forces. In three movements, spanning about 18 minutes in total, it looks back at a late Classical style that was quickly fading out of fashion at the time of its creation (1825-6).This edition comes with the unique contribution of M° Fabrizio Capitanio, in the form of a thorough musicological research delving deep into the historical context, and all of the critical aspects that made this work possible.A reduction for two pianos is available under Catalogue N° ASE 0051, while orchestral parts can be found as a bundle under Catalogue N° ASE 0053.This edition is also the first one in the new series dedicated to the City of Bergamo: La Bergamasque!
