This sonata in three movements is the first of a group of three sonatas for guitar by the Tyrolian composer and mandolin/guitar virtuoso  Leonhard von Call (1767-1815).The source for this edition is the clearly written manuscript of the three sonatas in the Boije guitar music collection of the National Library of Sweden, marked as Gi Boije 615.The manuscript seems to be based on a 1924 publication of the three sonatas by N. Simrock / Musikverlag / Berlin with catalogue number Verlag 763.Although Von Call was a virtuoso instrumentalist, he seems to have focused on teaching amateurs rather than performing. Consequently, much of his music is not of a very demanding nature, but still well composed and well suited to the instruments for which it was written.From about 1798 until his death in 1815 he was quite successful as a composer in Vienna, and  he composed and published about 150 works, mainly chamber music for different combinations and much vocal music with guitar accompaniment.

This is more utilitarian than a creative arrangement, and by that I mean that this is designed to save you time fingering and analyzing, which is often the tedious stuff that hardly anyone would enjoy over actually playing the piece.The fingering numbers are truly fingering numbers so don't let the numbers confuse you on what pitch it is. These numbers are more difficult to understand than just fret numbers, but they are more professional. I have glissando markings, but they are to show pivot fingers and parallelisms rather than glissandos. Having chord names for classical music is unconventional, but that is part of what gives this arrangement its uniqueness. I'm not sure why classical sheet music doesn't; the chord names are extremely beneficial, and they technically stem from figured bass that composers like Bach would use. Sometimes it is tricky to give a measure a chord name though, since sometimes it is more of an implied harmony, or it's too vague, or it's too melodic. Features1. Fingerings added 2. ISBN 9790570484812.This is an arrangement of Godard's third and final string quartet for flute quartet. It was originally published in 1893 towards the end of the composers life, and shows us all the traits of late romantic French chamber music. The first movement is lyrical and flowing, with rich chords and unexpected harmonic twists. The second movement is languid and dreamy, featuring a soaring bass flute solo in the middle of the movement. The third is almost like a minuet, featuring a florid melody in the first flute supported by the other instruments, and the final movement uses driving triplets and rhythmic unison passages to create urgency and excitement. Surely the pinnacle of chamber music, quartets give the players a chance to interact on the most intimate level with the other players and the audience. Knowing when to bring your line to the fore or when to support another player, how to duet with another musician, and how to work with your fellow players to allow the music to flower is possibly the ultimate expression of musicianship. This quartet allows flautists access to this experience, and also gives a new insight into a composer who's works have unjustifiably fallen out of favour.

This is the sixth of twelve Trio Sonatas first published in London in 1747 by John Walsh for 'Two Violins With a Bass for Violoncello or Harpsichord by William Boyce.' This arrangement keeps closely to the original, the main changes are of register to accommodate the ranges of the flute & oboe. Extra slurs - indicated by dashed lines - have been added to suit the characters of the wind instruments. The dynamics in the original were all printed in full e.g. pianissimo, but, surprisingly, the opening dynamic which invariably would be forte was always omitted. The three movements are Adagio, Vivace & a short (7 bar/measures ) Adagio leading to Affetuoso. Players of intermediate standard and above will enjoy this sonata with its independent equal parts.
