This quiet, flowing piece, with its undulating LH accompaniment, and simple two-note theme, moved through the various possibilities in the F# natural minor scale, is really his equivalent piece to Beethoven's Fur Elise. No kidding! So, examine how logical and composerly the surface complexities have been ordered, so as to make the piece a finely patterned and memoriz-able thing. Our tempo here is about the same as Richter, so one COULD go slower. Bring our the tune over the LH figures, and pedal for clarity. Only a few wide stretches have been truncated and/or arpeggiated for our convenience. MBB.

Most of the songs are brief, lasting around two minutes.  Another attractive feature is the inclusion of a literal English translation directly above the Italian.  I believe these songs will be successful for auditions and in recital settings, both informal and formal.  My hope is that over time, these 24 Italian Songs and Arias for 21st Century Singers will take their place beside the originals for the establishment of a solid vocal technique.

(A0.1329770). This is a simplified version of the famous piano piece by Chopin, the Nocturne Op. 49 no. 1. The structure, melodies and harmonies are the same. The changes to make it easier are in the big chords from the middle section, they have been reduced within an octave and with less notes, but there are some others that surpases the octave, but they are rewritten in an easier way with less notes and with arpeggi. The last section is rewritten in a very simplistic way with an easier accompaniment for the left hand and only the main melody for the right hand and secondary voices and secondary accompaniment chords for the right hand that appears in the original work have been removed. Satie: Gymnopédie No. 1 arranged horn in F and pianoProbably Erik Satie's best known work, written originally for piano.This piece has been arranged many times on this site and elsewhere for varying instruments.In other arrangements the solo instrument takes the melody all the way through.My arrangement differs in that, for the 2nd verse the melody is shared between the horn and piano, and played together at the end.This I feel gives interest and variation to the piece. I have transposed it into F from the original D....this puts the horn in a better range. I have also suggested some muting (both hand and actual mute) to add to the atmosphere of the piece.Check out my other Satie arrangements.
