Struggling to find a jumping off point, I turned to the internet in hopes for a spark, and instead ended up on Reddit looking at the daily viral internet. For unknown reasons, this was the inspiration I needed, and I turned to old school memes, and decided to write a collection of short character pieces based on the origin of some of my favorites. Success Kid is based upon the internet’s favorite fist-pumping toddler. I imagined my nephew, Georgie when he was three, and once stayed in continuous movement for nearly ten hours. I was exhausted watching him, and his frenetic energy is the driving inspiration. The performer is instructed to play this just “within control,� meaning that one click faster on the metronome could bring it to a crashing halt. Annoyed Picard is based upon a single screenshot of the syndicated classic Star Trek: The Next Generation. Although this meme is shows frustration, the shot in questions is actually famed Shakespearean actor, Patrick Stewart, quoting Shakespeare in a vain attempt to woo one of his crewmates away from an evil alien species. I thought it only fitting to write a simple melodic melody, fitting for the words of Shakespeare, that slowly morphs into an exciting sci-fi riff. This is fine is based on the single panel that is synonymous with the worst possible situations. A dog drinks tea in a room slowly filling with flames. The truth is that all isn’t well, and in the final three panels of the comic strip, the room slowly is engulfed in flames and the dog melts. I wanted to show the chaos and destruction of this comic strip by taking the same melody and distorting it past the point of comfort. Of course, the movement has to end with the joke of the meme. Um die Melodie erst einmal ganz für sich wahrnehmen zu können ist es gut, wenn die Melodie erst einstimmig vorgetragen wird, bevor die zweite Stimme hinzutritt. Einmal ist die Melodie eine Oberstimme, danach die Unterstimme. Die hinzutretende zweite Stimme ist jeweils anders. Beide Stimmen sind rhythmisch etwas eigenwillig und lassen sich nicht wirklich in dem notierten Takt zählen. Sie sollen einfach ruhig und schwerelos dahin fließen.  Now winter has passed, but you can also play it in summer! I meant a certain quiet intimate and dreamy atmosphere which occurs when everything is covered with fresh snow. In order to perceive the melody for itself it is good when the melody first is performed one voice alone before the second voice joins. First the melody is the upper voice, then the lower voice. The second voice is different both times. Both voices are a bit rhythmically idiosyncratic and can´t really be counted according to the written bar. They should flow there just calm and weightless.

When used this way, this song provides an easy way to stretch your rehearsal time at the Christmas season, as the choir can easily participate, yet there is no learning of extra parts. Brimming with worship of the Christ Child from the very first lyric, Heaven's Here to Stay begins by quietly evoking the atmosphere of the stable. When the chorus arrives, the jubilant singing of the angels arrives as well: Glory in the highest, for the Peace of heaven comes to earth! Glory in the highest--Hope itself was born in Jesus's birth. For Death is dying, Fear is cowering, Light is chasing Night away. The burning love of heaven's here to stay. This is a loop station composition for electric violin that I composed for my live-looping duo, The Khromatiks, in 2014. Doing my part to increase the available repertoire for extended range violins out here on the internet!I originally recorded this tune on a 7-string electric violin with a Boomerang III loop station. That being said, there are plenty of other gear configurations that will work. Any phrase looper/sampler that is capable of playing 2 separate tracks or sections with overdubs will be able to handle this structure, such as the Singular Sound Aeros, Boss RC-30, Ableton Live with a MIDI controller, etc. If you don't play 7-string, a 5-string can also play this chart as written if you transpose the bass stave up one octave and use an octave pedal for the pizzicato bass lines. A standard 4-string can also work, although most phrases will have to be transposed 8va.A little about this tune: there are 2 distinct sections. The first is a latin groove with a a highly syncopated chopping groove and a simple, soaring melodic head. This section can be opened up for a variety of solo ideas from jazz to Latin to funk, before it transitions using a common tone into the bridge, which is more of an epilogue. This section has much more of a heavy rock bent, with a thick stack of string overdubs that mimic an orchestra sitting over an overdriven rhythm groove, and a breakdown where aggressive drum fills are accompanied by rhythmic chugging in the violin. Finally, all of these ideas culminate as the A section melody is re-introduced over the rock groove, building to an ultimate climax.With The Khromatiks this piece was performed as a duo with violin & drums/percussion, but also works as a violin solo. I usually add additional percussive loops when I perform this solo.I have also included three auxiliary string parts, which can be used to perform this piece with a string section or an orchestra. The parts line up with the second section of the tune and replace some of the loops with live parts. After Debussy’s death in 1918, his second wife Emma often gave away sketch pages to performers or composers as memorials to her beloved husband , and this particular page was given to the Cuban born pianist and composer Joaquin Nin (1879-1949). It came up for sale in the catalogue of the British antiquarian dealer Lisa Cox in 2010 and although it might possibly be an early song for contralto and piano, the more dynamic idea in bar 12 strongly suggests the violin, especially as it begins on an open D string. Moreover, there is no text and in pieces of this length, Debussy usually wrote at least one word in, if only to remind himself where he had got to in any song. So my starting point was a complete 12-bar melody gently undulating in the violin’s lowest register over a sensual accompaniment, rising to a climax in bar 12 and giving me a contrasting idea that I could use as a link between sections and in the cadenza. As the B section (bars 14-26) derives directly from Debussy’s opening theme by metamorphosis, my own additions were restricted to the central section (bars 27-57) - comprising a new scherzando idea (C) and the more lyrical D (bars 36-46).
