Violin Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.508776 Composed by Herve Vilard and Paul Anka. Arranged by Leo Silva. Multicultural,World. 2 pages. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.508776). Capri c'est fini is a French song, composed and sung by Hervé Vilard. This song enjoyed great success in France from its release in June 1965 and launched the career of the young singer who was then 19 years old. Vilard recorded the song in seven languages and sold 2.5 million copies. The lyrics describe a romantic breakup. The song's title, which is identified with its chorus, uses the Italian island of Capri, where the relationship was formed and lasted, to represent the couple who break up. Hervé Vilard, who had just signed his first contract with Mercury Records, was not successful in singing the songs in English re-recorded in that studio's catalogue. The idea of the title came to him by chance, when he saw a tourist advertisement on the Paris Metro, calling attention to that island, making him think of the song C'est fini, which Charles Aznavour had released in the same year and which Villard often hummed. In that song, there was also a repetition of the phrase C' est fini (it's over).

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549859 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Concert,Easter,Sacred,Wedding. 24 pages. Jmsgu3 #3556989. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549859). Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) from Cantata BWV 140. Duration: ca. 4:00, Score: 10 pages, Program this for church services during the Easter season, weddings, or as a recital encore.Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) also known as: Sleepers Awake Bach composed his church cantata Wachet auf (BWV 140) as part of his second annual cantata cycle covering the entire annual church calendar. It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). This transcription became No. 1 of the Six Schübler Chorales. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with the instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival               Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1315388 By DaCapo Primary Music. By Jane Cutler and Tracey Mathias. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Educational Method. 94 pages. DaCapo Primary Music #904114. Published by DaCapo Primary Music (A0.1315388). This Book Contains 68 songs for the instrumentalist. This new edition of the DaCapo Complete Instrumentalist contains the same material as when first published in 2000, with one big change - many of the songs have been re-worded by our writer in residence, Tracey Mathias, to make them more engaging for very young children.Singing is the foundation of all musical skills. The book concentrates on the building of musicianship, is not clef specific and is therefore suitable for ANY instrument. It has been written on a reduced stave of 1, 2 or 3 lines in order to develop the skill of hearing the music from the page. The songs are classified by their note range, using solfa symbols and handsigns to identify relative pitches. The collection starts with the  so  mi  interval and moves progressively to cover the complete major pentatonic scale. These intervals are easier to pitch accurately and you have the added advantage of working in canon. You may find another section more appropriate for the early stages of your instrument. A violinist or cellist may find the  so  do  section better as a starting point for example, whilst  la  so  might be more comfortable on a fife or recorder. Each section starts with a list of ideas for very simple activities used to teach a song and establish it in the pupil's mind. There follows a variety of more complex and creative ideas which will enhance their musicianship. The activities are at three levels and we suggest that first you learn lots of the songs and then return to them later, tackling some of the more challenging suggestions.Whilst every attempt has been made to research the source material, if you think we have not credited an original song please let us know.We hope that you enjoy becoming a Complete Instrumentalist. Choral Choir,Choral,TTBB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486888 By The Mcguire Sisters. By Calvin Carter and James Hudson. Arranged by Rod Christian. 20th Century,A Cappella,Barbershop,Blues,Jazz. 5 pages. Rodmusic Productions #1063957. Published by Rodmusic Productions (A0.1486888). GOODNIGHT SWEETHEARTA popular doo-wop classic song that was a hit during the mid-1950s. It was written by Calvin Carter and James Pookie Hudson in 1951, and was first recorded by The Spaniels in 1953. It has also been released by some artists as Goodnight, Well It's Time to Go. The best-selling version of the song was recorded by the McGuire Sisters in 1954. In this arrangement I have tried to capture the fun aspect of a male Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone and Bass combination singing a cappella in a jazz-swing style. I have utilised some nice harmonies and counter melodies that complement the work. Tempo sits nicely at crotchet = 100 but this is up to the director to choose a suitable tempo if he or she so wishes.Enjoy this popular song re-worked from way back in 1951.Rod Christian.

ANTONIOS KOUNDOURAKIS #3459933. Published by ANTONIOS KOUNDOURAKIS (A0.991617). This piece was  written by Antonis to explore the timbre of the Flute and to utilise the relatively high register of the flute for harmony and counterpoint. There are many compositional techniques epmloyed such as immitation, use of the modes and chromatic alteration, but the overall style of the piece is that of a choral, intended to be close to the serene style of Palestrina, or Josquin Des Prez. This piece is to be played as if singing and the coordination of the 3 performers will be one of the challenges but also an interesting part of playing this piece. It could be played by a tutor and 2 pupils alternating the parts for extra practice benefits. If the students are experienced solo performers it could be also perfrormed prima vista to practice counting the pauses and re-entrances of the voices while the other players continue to play.   If you play this piece don't hesitate to contact me for feedback on the score legibility and playability of the piece and to let me know how you enjoyed the music! Country,Folk,Pop. 20 pages. Stephanie Jayne Amies #1076730. Published by Stephanie Jayne Amies (A0.1500643). Lots of fun harmonies in this arrangement of a fantastic song. The song starts slow and powerful, so you can really enjoy those harmonies, before becoming more upbeat for the first verse. There is a chorus of a ccappella singing with optional body percussion (claps and stamps, but feel free to be more inventive!) This easy-intermediate level repeats the same harmonies in both verses, and has a Unison bridge to make learning a bit easier. If you're after something a little more complex, this is also available in SAA Intermediate (additional harmonies in verse 2 and bridge) and SSAB. This also works well transposed a tone up if needed. Please note the number of copies purchased is for the Piano Vocal OR the Vocal Score, not to duplicate the number of copies purchased.
