Lady Gaga - for Brass?!! Really??

This is a great song and works really well as an instrumental solo for brass instruments. It comes from the 2018 remake of the film 'A Star is Born' and is sung originally by Lady Gaga.

I was asked to do an arrangement of the song for a young lady to sing with Boobs & Brass. I was struck by the quality of the words and the music and immediately thought of it as a great addition to the solo repertoire.

In terms of standard, I would judge this to be around Grades 5 to 6 ABRSM/Trinity and makes for an interesting challenge away from the grading syllabus.

Composed by Elmer Bernstein. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV. Score and parts. 38 pages. John Ivor Holland #776196. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1176069).

'The Magnificent Seven' is a 1960 American Western film, a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 Japanese film 'Seven Samurai'. The fantastic cast includes Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson and James Coburn with a sweeping score by Elmer Bernstein, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score, but lost to 'Exodus' by Ernest Gold. The bracing Main Title Theme sets the scene immediately, suggesting the galloping of horses and the wide expanses of the foreboding landscape.
