Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: AX.00-PC-0016224_M1 Mallets. Composed by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. Arranged by Douglas E. Wagner. Instructional. Part. 1 pages. Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music #00-PC-0016224_M1. Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music (AX.00-PC-0016224_M1). UPC: 038081453095.With its message of endless possibilities and dreams fulfilled, this piece, from the 1971 Academy-award nominated film score of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1964), by songwriting team Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, has remained popular since the 1970s---and even more so today, or so says the more than 5.5 million views on YouTube. The tune surfaces three times in the movie, first during the opening title music, then as the feature number by Gene Wilder as he leads his assembled golden ticket winners into the chocolate room, and finally, as part of the Wonkavator music at the end. Great fun for all generations, and all generations to come! This arrangement provides a dramatic opportunity to teach expression. A charming and musical choice, it is memorable and heartwarming. Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792563 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ronald Barron. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #5008585. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792563). The Evening-Watch was written in 1925, when Holst lived in Thaxted, England having had to temporarily leave his teaching duties because of overwork and illness. This setting of Henry Vaughan’s ‘Dialogue between the Body and the Soul’ was too  austere for listeners of its day and it remained out of print for thirty years, until 1965. Its mood of calm strength and passionate resignation sounds as if it belongs to the 1960’s.  This beautiful arrangement for 8-part trombone choir by Ronald Baron seems altogether appropriate given the instrument’s vocal character, its frequent use for music at funerals and Holst’s other musical passion; his short career as a trombonist. The 4 minute piece is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.

Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587601 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by David McKeown. Classical,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. David McKeown #4403638. Published by David McKeown (A0.587601). Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since. This version is arranged for Solo Tenor Saxophone and Piano and the performance time is around three and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and interchangeable. Repeats may also be ignored. Both the full length youtube performance and the short audio sample are from the Clarinet version off this arrangement. The solo part is intermediate level, while the piano accompaniment suits an advanced intermediate player. Both will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with building dynamic range and stamina. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.805624 Composed by Pablo de Sarasate. Arranged by Marcus Martin. Concert,Romantic Period. 19 pages. Cornelius Edition (uk) #6478357. Published by Cornelius Edition (uk) (A0.805624). Zigeunerweisen or Gypsy Airs,  Op. 20, was written in 1878 by the Spanish composer Pablo de Sarasate. In 4 distinct sections, the themes in the piece are not of Romani origin, but were all actually adapted from Hungarian music pieces: e.g. the last section uses a theme from Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 13, in the rhythm of the csárdás. As one of Sarasate's most popular compositions and a favourite among violin virtuosos, the work has remained a staple concert item and on recordings  since Sarasate himself recorded it in 1904, The Piano part is adapted from the orchestral score.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1401138 Composed by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 3 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #984325. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1401138). Love in Bloom is a popular song with music by Ralph Rainger and lyrics by Leo Robin, published in 1934. It was introduced in the film She Loves Me Not by Bing Crosby and Kitty Carlisle. It remained familiar for many years thereafter as the theme song of Jack Benny, played at the opening of his radio and television programs. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! It's a pretty song and not too hard to play! We hope you like this version!

Oboe and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7114 Composed by Kurt Hessenberg. This edition: Sheet music. Oboe Library. Das 1958 entstandene Capriccio ist ein spielfreudiges und dankbares Stück - in einem neoklassizistischen, von erweiterter Tonalität geprägten Stil. Eine willkommene Erweiterung des Oboen-Repertoire. Downloadable. Op. 71/2. Duration 4 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7114. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7114). Even though the Frankfurt composer Kurt Hessenberg (1908-1994) made a lasting impression, especially by his sacred choral music - his motet 'O Herr, mache mich zum Werkzeug deines Friedens' forms part of the repertoire of every good choir - his career as a composer began with piano, chamber and orchestral music. All his life Hessenberg remained faithful to these genres. Between 1958 and 1963 he wrote five miniatures which he put together into Opus 71 and in which he let the five instruments of a wind quintet have their 'say' separately and with piano accompaniment: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. Created in 1958, 'Capriccio' Op. 71 No. 2 is dedicated to the oboe. It is an enjoyable and rewarding piece in a neoclassical style characterized by an extended tonality. This 'Capriccio' gives the oboist the possibility to play in an effective virtuoso, yet cantabile way and, in addition, uses piano accompaniment in a rewarding manner - a welcome addition to the oboe repertoire.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1112405 Composed by Fanny Cecile Mendelssohn. Arranged by Allison B. Wehrle. 19th Century,Chamber. 8 pages. Allison B. Wehrle #714438. Published by Allison B. Wehrle (A0.1112405). Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel wrote the Cholera Cantata in 1831, to mark the end of the epidemic that had devastated Berlin. The original, 13- part work was written for choir and chamber orchestra. The lyrics, derived from Biblical texts, depict both the despair and mourning felt during the height of the epidemic, and also celebratory praise at its cessation. After the initial performance in 1832, the piece remained unpublished (and likely unperformed) until it was rediscovered in the Mendelssohn Archives at the Berlin State Library 150 years later. This arrangement is of the introduction only.

Viola Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552083 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Individual part. 2 pages. Jmsgu3 #6116381. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552083). The famous wedding classic arranged for Solo Viola.Duration: 2:12Score: 2 pages. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Solo Viola. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.
