SATB Choir divisi - Digital Download SKU: MQ.4989-E Composed by Frank Ferko. Advent. 11 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #4989-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.4989-E). The Hildegard Motets comprise a cycle of nine unaccompanied choral motets using texts by the 12th century abbess Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179). The texts were extracted from Hildegard's opus of more than seventy sacred poems titled Symphinia armonie celestium revelationum. Although these poems have been translated into English (more than once) and some of the translations are quite brilliant, I chose to set the original Latin texts as I felt they remained closer to Hildegard's own thoughts. The nine poems used in this cycle were selected according to their appropriateness to seasons in the Christian liturgical caldendar (thus, most of them can be sung in specific liturgical settings) and to their appropriateness to the structured plan of this cycle as well as for their sheer poetic beauty. Hildegard's poetic vocabulary was unusual and unique; she frequently used language that is not found in standard Latin liturgical texts. As with the music she composed, her poetry is highly ecstatic, vivid and rich in imagery.

This version is arranged as a duet in a Gospel style for one Trumpet and one Alto Saxophone. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet. The melody of Silent Night was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber in 1918, a setting for the lyrics of a young priest, Joseph Mohr. After flooding had damaged the church organ in Oberdorf, Austria, Mohr asked local schoolmaster, Gruber, to write a Christmas melody to be accompanied by guitar. Silent Night was the result. The carol remained unpublished until 1833, but has since gained huge international popularity. Bing Crosby’s version sold more than 10 million copies and UNESCO has declared the carol an intangible cultural heritageWith a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Silent Night is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The gospel style is a fun, fresh and soulful take on this familiar tune.Silent Night is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The 9/8 meter may be feel unusual to some, and there is plenty of articulation detail to help deliver an authentic style. The melody is played twice, with a short intro and a bluesy outdo. This arrangement is suitable for players at an intermediate level.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311113 Composed by George J. Elvey, 1859. Arranged by David Evan Thomas. Classical,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Davidevanthomas.com #900085. Published by davidevanthomas.com (A0.1311113). Set to Henry Alford's words, Come, Ye Thankful People, Come is one of the most popular hymns for Thanksgiving. This setting treats the tune as a chorale prelude for piano (or organ), with the tune in the soprano. Hymnary.org tells us that English organist George Job Elvey (1816-1893 ), the composer of the tune, ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR, was educated at Oxford and at the Royal Academy of Music. At age nineteen Elvey became organist and master of the boys' choir at St. George Chapel, Windsor, where he remained until his retirement in 1882. He was knighted after he provided music for Princess Louise's wedding in 1871.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998873 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Robert A. Howard #6383261. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998873). The Fragment series of short piano pieces was conceived for pianists of almost any standard. As suggested in the title, each piece is based on a single compositional fragment or sketch that had otherwise remained incomplete and dormant. Fragment I uses a simple minor key chorale that features a descending bass line. This poignant chord sequence was later used and developed in the composer's 2020 anthem God So Loved the World (also available via Sheet Music Plus). In Fragment I this idea is repeated with textural variation, ascending in pitch, before a dramatic silence. The piece concludes with a further statement of the sequence, now finally with an added melody. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for almost all standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Other works from the Fragment cycle are also available via Sheet Music Plus.Duration: 2 minutes 30 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk

Score. 7 pages. David McKeown #4354151. Published by David McKeown (A0.587515). Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. RayThompsonMusic #6347537. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553953). Gabriel Pierné was born in Metz. His family moved to Paris, after Metz and part of Lorraine were annexed to Germany in 1871 following the Franco-Prussian War. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, gaining first prizes for solfège, piano, organ, counterpoint and fugue. He won the French Prix de Rome in 1882, with his cantata Edith. His teachers included Antoine François Marmontel, Albert Lavignac, Émile Durand, César Franck (for the organ) and Jules Massenet (for composition). He succeeded César Franck as organist at Sainte-Clotilde Basilica in Paris from 1890 to 1898. He himself was succeeded by another distinguished Franck pupil, Charles Tournemire. Associated for many years with Édouard Colonne's concert series, the Concerts Colonne, from 1903, Pierné became chief conductor of this series in 1910.His most notable early performance was the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird, at the Ballets Russes, Paris, on 25 June 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 (when Paul Paray took over his duties). This arrangement is taken from his album of 6 short  pieces: originally written for piano, and later transcribed by him, for small orchestra (English Translation: Album for my little friends (Children)Movts are:Pastorale FarandoleLa Veillée de l'ange gardien  (The Vigil of the Guardian Angel)Petite gavotteChanson d'autrefois (This one)Marche des petits soldats de plomb (March of the Lead Soldiers)Arranged standard wind quintet

Large Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553419 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Christmas,Classical,Sacred,Wedding. Score and parts. 27 pages. RayThompsonMusic #2551253. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553419). Part II of Handel's Messiah closes with the chorus Hallelujah, in the key of D major. In many parts of the world, it is the accepted practice for the audience to stand for this section of the performance. The tradition is said to have originated with the first London performance of Messiah, which was attended by King George II. As the first notes of the triumphant Hallelujah Chorus rang out, the king was so moved that he rose to his feet and remained standing until the end of the chorus. Royal protocol has always dictated that when the monarch stands, everyone in the monarch's presence is also required to stand. Thus, the entire audience and orchestra stood when the king stood during the performance, initiating a tradition that has lasted more than two centuries. My arrangement is for standard wind dectet: 2 fl, 2 oboes,2 clt in A, 2 hns in D and 2 bassoons.

Austin Ralphson #1068344. Published by Austin Ralphson (A0.1491667). This is an arrangement of Mozart’s famous Clarinet Quintet (3rd movement), but arranged for wind quintet instead of solo plus strings. I have remained as faithful to the original as possible to ensure the purest sound is produced. The two Menuetto D.C’s are optional, and I have transposed it into concert B flat to provide ease of playing for the 4 lower parts. The solo should be played on a clarinet in B flat as opposed to the traditional clarinet in A.

Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553822). Masques et bergamasques, Op. 112, is an orchestral suite by Gabriel Fauré. It was arranged by the composer from incidental music he provided for a theatrical entertainment commissioned for Albert I, Prince of Monaco in 1919. The original score contained eight numbers, including two songs for tenor, and a choral passage. These numbers were not included in the published suite, which has four movements. The eight movements of the divertissement were almost all drawn from earlier works of Fauré:Ouverture (from an abandoned 1869 symphony)Pastorale (the only wholly new movement)Madrigal (Op. 35, 1884; for chorus and orchestra)Le Plus doux chemin (Op. 87, No. 1; for tenor and orchestra)Menuet (extensively reworked from the 1869 symphony)Clair de lune (Op. 46, No. 2; for tenor and orchestra)Gavotte (from the 1869 symphony)Pavane (Op. 50, 1887)The suite drawn from the work has remained one of Fauré's most popular works. It was published by Durand et cie in 1919. It is scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani, harp and strings.The suite, which has a typical playing time of about 14 minutes, consists of four of the purely orchestral movements:OvertureMinuetGavottePastoraleIt is arranged here for double wind quintet and bass.(string bass/tuba parts provided)
