Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works.

The Schützen (Riflemen's) Quadrille was composed by all three Strauss brothers together on the occasion of the Third German Federal  Shooting Competition in Vienna. According to author Dave Hoekstra, Hernando's Hideaway was based on Hilltop, an establishment in East Dubuque, Illinois that had been a speakeasy in the 1920s where Al Capone once hid out from the Chicago police..
