There are five different lesson pieces with teacher and student duet parts. A teacher can supplement traditional method book pieces with one of the Imaginations pieces to keep a student’s interest with something new and different. These pieces have accessible contemporary tonal harmony and use basic contemporary practices such as cluster chords, whole tone scales, and glissandos. Their difficulty range from level one through level two. Explanations of these contemporary ideas are explained for the student, and the teacher is given teaching and discussion prompts to encourage a student’s higher-level thinking skills. The final piece is a fun musical story with musical motifs played by teacher and student. The teacher reads the story aloud and the student and teacher play musical motifs when they hear keywords throughout the story.
