Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.PDP101). 9 x 12 inches.Barlow's Prelude, Air and Variation, written in 1948, is the first twentieth-century work scored for the combination of bassoon, string quartet, and piano. There are earlier compositions from the Late Classical and Early Romantic eras by Johann Evangelist Brandl, Domenico Cimarosa and others. It is interesting to note that the other notable modern works for this ensemble are also by American composers, specifically Gunther Schuller and Elliott Schwarz. Barlow's harmonic language is much more conservative than that of Schuller and Schwartz, and he does not exploit the bassoonist's potential virtuosity as do the later composers. The work is notable for Barlow's melodic gift and the care with which he varies the harmonic underpinning, as well as the basic structure of the piece. It is a beautiful composition that never fails to garner compliments after it is performed.

Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1021849). Julius Fu�ík (1872 - 1916) was a famous Austrian-Hungarian military bandmaster, who composed more than 400 pieces during his short lifetime. First of all he was known as a king of marches: His Florentiner March and Entry of the Gladiators had worldwide success, but also some of his overtures and waltzes became very popular. His concert march Under the Admiral's Flag was composed in 1911and had its first performance, when the Austrian-Hungarian battleship Viribus unitis premiered its launching in the former Austrian military habour of Pula in Istria. This arrangement keeps the key of the symphony orchestra version, while most band arrangements transpose a whole tone lower. This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg and first performed conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their 2014 New Year's Concert on January 6th in Salzburg, Austria. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1485694). The march Jetzt geht's los! (It Just Starts Now!) is an early composition of the famous Austrian-Hungarian operetta composer   Franz (Ferenc) Lehár. His first career steps contained several positions as military band conductor in the Austrian-Hungarian army,   so he also led the band of the infantry regiment no. 25 located in Lucenec in today's Slovakia, where this march arose.   The subtitle Humorous March was possibly chosen to indicate, that it was not intended to be a military march. The arrangement  is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Is was first time performed by Salzburg Wind Philharmonic  conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6th January 2023 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall)  in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
