String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1100574 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Emma Butterworth. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Patriotic. Score and Parts. 26 pages. Emma Butterworth #704290. Published by Emma Butterworth (A0.1100574). A hugely enjoyable arrangement for string quartet of the most famous movement from 'The Planets', which includes the well known melody that became 'I Vow To Thee My Country'. This arrangement is an abridged version of the original, at 5m30s long. All of Emma's arrangements find creative and artistic ways to re-present original pieces in a way that suits the new instruments and ensemble whilst maintaining the integrity of the original piece. Her aim is to go far beyond a simple copying of the melody and harmony, but to create an arrangement that sounds as if the piece was always meant for these new instruments. Emma Butterworth is a composer for film and TV and also a successful Suzuki cello teacher. She has an intimate knowledge of how to write for strings, and has written and arranged a vast number of pieces for cellos and strings especially. All pieces have been played and performed. www.emmabutterworthmusic.com.

This social division has been compounded by extreme social and physical isolation during the COVID-19 crisis. In light of these developments, I felt that this piece’s message was needed now in 2020 more than ever. The tune Prospect is by far one of the most beautiful American melodies from the 1800s. The text was inspired by the beauty of human connection and the feelings we experience when parting ways: sadness and happy remembrance. The text attempts to invoke healing as we keep everyone we hold dear etched on our hearts. This arrangement is an accessible, early intermediate arrangement for 2-Part chorus.       - Christopher Durigg

Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767322 Composed by Mike Lyons. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 35 pages. Lyons Music Services #3488955. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767322). Original horn quartet inspired by a conversation about writing for horns. There are three movements. The first movement is called Canon. It consists of a simple theme that is presented in imitation by each of the four 'voices' first at 2 bar intervals then, in inversion at four bar intervals and then in the original form at one bar intervals. There is a linking fanfare-like passage before the final statement of the original motif with fanfare-like adaptations. The second movement is called Lullaby. The elegant, drifting melody is passed around the four players with a largely chordal accompaniment pattern that needs to be played sotto voce at all times. The tempo is marked Largo, but it is still one-in-a-bar.The third movement is called Hullabaloo-haloo-haloo. While it is based on a 6/8 cantering rhythm, there is a lot of variation in both the accompaniment and the melody. Again, all the lines have a lot of interest, nobody has to play simple um-chucks, and there's even a solo for the 4th horn at the end.I have rearranged the parts as 1/3/2/4 on the advice of a horn player friend of mine. Enjoy. This is a really enjoyable and exciting new addition to the horn quartet repertoire.

Chamber Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.944032 Composed by Ofer Ben-Amots. Contemporary,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 118 pages. The Composer's Own Press #4610029. Published by The Composer's Own Press (A0.944032). CONCERTINO, for Clarinet, Mandolin, and Orchestra CONCERTINO was officially commissioned in 2011 by the Geneva Chamber Orchestra. The composition explores the sound combination of two, seemingly opposing, instruments and sound characters: the clarinet and the mandolin. Thus, the three-movement work is a short double-concerto for clarinet and mandolin, accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The first movement, titled Psalm 148 and is a mixture of a coronation fanfare and a wild improvisatory-like dance. The music is based on the structure and ideas expressed in the 148th Psalm. For the transformation of this Psalmodic text into music I was concerned with two elements: first, the linguistic pulse of the ancient Biblical Hebrew gives the music its ever-changing meters and vibrant rhythms. The second element was the poetic concept presented in the text: Heaven vs. Earth, Universe vs. Planet, or Heights vs. Depths. The contrasting nature of these elements is described in the following verses: Hallelujah, Praise ye the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. (Psalm 148, verse 1) Praise the LORD from the earth, ye sea-monsters, and all deeps. (Psalm 148, verse 7) Finally, both Heaven and Earth join in praise together: Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. (Psalm 148, verse 13) The musical expression of these contraries is reflected and the use of high-range and soprano instruments (flutes, clarinet, trumpets, violins) versus low-range instruments (trombone, bassoons, cellos and basses.) The second movement, Romacero Viejo (and old love song) is a slow, lyrical dirge-like melody in a Sephardic Judeo-spanish style. In this movement the mandolin plays in the manner of an Oud – a traditional pear-shaped Arabic lute. The harmony sits mostly on a single pedal note while the clarinet imitates the chant with rhythmically free ornatmental patterns. The third and final movement, Allegro con brio, is a festive klezmer dance with a traditional Bulgar (or Freylech) rhythm, where the regular 8/8 meter is constantly divided into the irregular count of: 3+3+2. In the middle of this movement the two soloists play a cadenza, which allows them to present their contrasting yet complementary instrumental characters. The movement is titled The Geneva Bulgar in honor of the City of Geneva and the wonderful memories I have been carrying with me ever since my time there as a young student at the Conservatoire de Musique. Total duration: ca. 23 min.Performance material by rental only! For demo recording, questions, or any additional information please e-mail Ofer Ben-Amots at: thecomposerspress@gmail.com

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1333010 Composed by Victor Rebullida. 21st Century,Comedy,Holiday,March. 27 pages. Victor Rebullida #919390. Published by Victor Rebullida (A0.1333010). With this composition I wanted to pay tribute to an artist who was famous in his time and fell into oblivion until recent times when his figure has been recovered by various research works.May this work serve as a vindication of the great Marceline. The piece has an optimistic character and in its nearly five minutes of duration I make nods to circus music and the atmosphere of the shows in which Marceline participated.Marceline is the stage name of Marcelino Orbés. He was a Spanish clown, mime, acrobat, comic actor and circus artist, with American nationality since 1922, who is considered the best clown in the world of his time.Marceline was Spanish artist born in 1873 who performed in several European countries. Around 1895 he had success at the London Hippodrome and then enticed by producers Thompson and Dundy to come to the New York Hippodrome, where he arrived with great fanfare in 1905. He was a part of shows at the Hippodrome through 1915, by which time his pantomime routine and falling gags were falling out of favor with the public. He did reappear at the Hippodrome for some later shows in 1920-21 and 1922-23.Attempts to succeed in the restaurant business in New York and Connecticut both failed, and he lost money in real estate ventures. Out of work and out of savings, Marceline was found dead by suicide in his hotel room on November 5, 1927, with photographs of his glory days on the bed.Marceline was long admired by Charlie Chaplin, who worked with Marceline at the London Hippodrome from December 1900 to April 1901, and is one of just a few performers from this period of his life that Chaplin discusses in his autobiography. Chaplin recounts seeing him years later in the United States with a circus, and though expecting to see him be a featured star, was surprised to see him only amongst other clowns.
