Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.525264 By Katy Perry. By Esther Dean, Katy Perry, Mikkel Eriksen, Sandy Wilhelm, and Tor Erik Hermansen. Arranged by Kevin Riley. Pop. Score and parts. 47 pages. Kevin Riley #135799. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.525264). Firework is a song by American singer Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010). Perry co-wrote the song with Ester Dean and its producers Stargate and Sandy Vee. It is a dance-pop self-empowerment anthem with inspirational lyrics, and Perry felt it was an important song for her on the record. Capitol Records released it as the album's third single on October 26, 2010. The song was commercially successful, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on 20 charts around the world. Firework has sold over 1 million copies in the United Kingdom, and was certified 12× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of over 12 million copies in the United States. An accompanying music video, directed by Dave Meyers, was released on October 28, 2010. It portrays Perry singing and dancing around Budapest, with interspersed scenes of young people becoming confident in themselves. An open casting call for the music video drew an unprecedented 38,000 applicants. On MuchMusic's top 50 videos of 2010, Firework reached the top position. The music video was said to be a more upbeat take on Christina Aguilera's message in Beautiful. It was nominated for three awards at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, eventually winning one of those, the Video of the Year, the main and final award. Firework was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards. On January 5, 2012, Firework was elected the fifth most played single on US radio during 2011 by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, with 509,000 plays.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.736270 Composed by Mitch Leigh. Arranged by Phyllis Avidan Louke. Film/TV,Pop. 12 pages. Louke Publishing #3489035. Published by Louke Publishing (A0.736270). 2018 Chamber Music Contest EntryThe Impossible Dream from Man of La ManchaProgram Notes Low Flute Ensemble The Impossible Dream (The Quest) is the most popular song from the 1965 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha and is also featured in the 1972 film of the same name.  The song was composed by Mitch Leigh, with lyrics written by Joe Darion.  It was awarded the Contemporary Classics Award from the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. This arrangement for Low Flute Ensemble can be performed with as few as 5 players or a full flute choir with multiple players on a part.  It is scored for 3 alto flutes, 2 bass flutes, and optional contrabass flute.  I have always found the lyrics of The Impossible Dream extremely moving: To dream the impossible dream, To fight the unbeatable foe, To bear with unbearable sorrow, To run where the brave dare not go. To right the unrightable wrong, To love pure and chaste from afar, To try when your arms are too weary, To reach the unreachable star. This is my quest, To follow that star No matter how hopeless, No matter how far. To fight for the right Without question or pause, To be willing to march Into hell for a heavenly cause. And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will be peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest. And the world will be better for this, That one man scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage. To fight the unbeatable foe. To reach the unreachable star. Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1414403 Composed by Leslie Bricusse and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Multicultural,World. 50 pages. John Ivor Holland #996173. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1414403). The Last Emperor is a 1987 epic biographical drama film about the life of Puyi, the final Emperor of China. It is directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and depicts Puyi's life from his ascent to the throne as a small boy to his imprisonment and political rehabilitation by the Chinese Communist Party. It premiered at the 1987 Tokyo International Film Festival, earning widespread positive reviews from critics and was also a commercial success. At the 60th Academy Awards, it won all nine Oscars it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It also won several other accolades, including three BAFTA Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, nine David di Donatello Awards, and a Grammy Award for its musical score, which features nine pieces composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, five by David Byrne, one from Cong Su, and a few incidental pieces of source music. 'Open The Door' occurs quite early in the film and can be considered to be one of the main themes, often performed instrumentally in concert by Ryuichi Sakamoto - as a song, with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, it is not often heard, so this piece would work on many levels in a concert of film music.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504237 Composed by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop. 29 pages. John Ivor Holland #1079695. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1504237). Man of La Mancha is a 1965 musical with a book by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion. It is adapted from Wasserman's non-musical 1959 teleplay I, Don Quixote, which was in turn inspired by Miguel de Cervantes and his 17th-century novel 'Don Quixote'. It tells the story of the 'mad' knight Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. The work is not and does not pretend to be a faithful rendition of either Cervantes' life or Don Quixote (Wasserman complained repeatedly about people taking the work as a musical version of Don Quixote). The original Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical; it has been revived four times on Broadway and there have been mulitple productions in different laguages around the world, becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre; it was adapted into a movie in 1972, starring Peter O'Toole. The Impossible Dream is one of the enduring musical themes throughout the show and has also been performed by many diverse artists over the decades, including Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Aretha Franklin.

Published by Piano Prodigies (A0.1215866). Have you ever thought about the physical process of falling asleep? How we go from a state of awareness and activity to one in which the body slows down and the conscious mind is suspended. Ironically, our minds are active, just not in the way that they function when we are awake. Dreams feel like a magical opportunity to bypass any of the limitations of real-life, yet we are but a bystander as the mind takes over as director, producer, and set designer. As you play, imagine that you are on a small boat on a black sea of stars, on your way to tonight's destination...
