These arrangements of favorite Christmas carols are sure to brighten up your next Christmas event. The publication consists of full scores for each hymn plus separate instrumental parts and an optional simplified keyboard part. All the arrangements are in four parts, reflecting the traditional SATB voicing. The parts include 1st trumpet in B flat; 2nd trumpet in B flat; horn in F; horn in E flat; trombone and optional tuba; optional bass in B flat and bass in E flat. There are also two optional baritone parts in B flat (TC) and C (BC) in case you need them. They are the same as the tenor part. In some carols, you might prefer to assign any baritones to doubling the bass or doubling the melody an octave lower. The baritone part in C is also playable by trombone. The trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff. Of course, you can use any number of instruments to a particular part. The optional keyboard part has been simplified and whenever possible limited to single notes in the left hand part and no more than two-note chords in the right. Using the keyboard part, you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. The scores and all the parts are contained in a single 129-page PDF file.
Because the music has been set in brass-friendly keys, the arrangements are not necessarily with other Colin Kirkpatrick arrangements published by Glyn Joseph Editions. Badinerie, the 7th movement from the Orchestra Suite no. 2 by JS Bach was originally written for Solo Flute (transverse flute), violin I/II, viola and basso continuo.

Literally jesting in French, it was a show-piece for solo flautists because of its quick pace and difficulty.

Taking words from Psalm 24, 7-10, this is an uplifting anthem for Palm Sunday.  With some unison passages (split between Sops & Men who can get a top F / Altos & Men who can get a bottom G / Full unison) and full SABar and an exciting but not difficult organ accompaniment this will reflect the joyous mood of the crowd welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem.  Dynamics are not stated, so left to the conductor to set as the Spirit moves, with the organ obviously being louder when introducing the verses than when accompanying.
(I have put this in the Lent and Easter sections, but that is only because there is no Palm Sunday listing.).

Today I heard a newscaster in New York City talking about how he had lived in New York 19 years and as everything is so quiet with people being off the streets because of the virus, for the first time he actually heard the beautiful sound of birds singing… but it feels sad that it took such tragedy to hear the beautiful music that is always there.
