Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.969530 Composed by Zachary Damm and Zachary Damm. Contemporary,Renaissance. Octavo. 11 pages. Digital Print Publishing #2927293. Published by Digital Print Publishing (A0.969530). The Canon Yeoman's Lament is a song from the perspective of one of Geoffrey Chaucer's characters from the Canterbury Tales--the Canon Yeoman. In Chaucer's famous work, this unfortunate dupe recounted his misfortunes at the hands of the Canon, a.k.a, Alchemist, as well as the plight of one of the Alchemist's many swindled customers. The song is written for unison choir with a piano accompaniment. It also includes a short play at the end that dramatizes Chaucer's rendition of the Canon Yeoman's Tale. The play requires a minimum of six players and would be excellent as a skit for secondary students. The Canon Yeoman's Lament could conclude the play or, if given a brief verbal introduction, it could stand on its own as a humorous interjection highlighting the perils from swindlers, both past and present. This tongue-in-cheek song captures Chaucer's legendary humor for modern audiences!

Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007139 Composed by Charles McCreery. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 19 pages. St Maur Music #4853779. Published by St Maur Music (A0.1007139). This song is one of a series of ‘Fourteen Tolkien Songs’. A comment on the collection by an Oxford piano teacher: ‘For those who only know Tolkien via the recent blood-and-thunder films, this song-cycle by Charles McCreery will give a very different angle on the classic saga. Here we find a gentle and ethereal world, where rhythms lilt and words echo. The twelve songs, suitable for choir, evoke a dreamy, water-colour landscape with no harsh sounds, the tunes are singable and in a traditional style that Tolkien would surely have approved. Dr Julia Gasper, LGSM   A general comment on Charles McCreery’s music by a violinist and composer in the USA: ‘Charles McCreery’s beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ Samantha Gillogly   ‘Galadriel’s Song’ is appropriate for either women’s or children’s voices, and is potentially of interest to anyone who is familiar with the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The three vocal parts and the piano accompaniment can each be printed out separately at the end of the full score. The MP3 which plays from this page is of an orchestral version of the song, which can be heard on the stmaurmusic channel on YouTube. On the front cover of Galadriel’s Song is a photograph of leaves in Wytham Woods, Oxford, and at the end of the score is a photograph of the sea off Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall . Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.995182 Arranged by Anthony Bannach. Contemporary,Gospel,Praise & Worship,R & B,Spiritual. Octavo. 11 pages. Anthony Bannach Music #5371615. Published by Anthony Bannach Music (A0.995182). This piece is an arrangement of the traditional spiritual There is a Balm in Gilead. No one is precisely sure who first wrote the words to this song, but many people speculate it is the result of a combination of the efforts of Washington Glass's hymn The Sinner's Cure, and John Newton, whose original hymn most likely had an additional refrain added to it by Glass. The song's title refers to the biblical passage Jeremiah 8:22 : Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wounds of my [God's] people?
