Violin Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784979 Composed by Dorothy van Joolen Barth. Children,Contemporary,Standards. 25 pages. Dorothy van Joolen Barth #25815. Published by Dorothy van Joolen Barth (A0.784979). The Faerie Fiddler aims to make several not-so-easy techniques fun to practice and perform. These techniques include spiccato bowing, trills, and ornamentation. Development of such delicate techniques should be supervised by an experienced violin teacher. Although The Faerie Fiddler is not intended to be an etude book, I hope these elfin solos and duos will be enjoyed by both student and teacher as supplemental repertory. This complete anthology contains 15 solo pieces and 5 violin duos. Front matter is appended to the back. I've endeavored to channel mischievous Puck to sprinkle magic juice on tricky techniques by writing interesting pieces that (1) captivate the player while maintaining simple forms; (2) use woodland imagery; and (3) introduce traditional dance forms. Whimsical verses accompany the pieces and serve to (1) introduce each piece; (2) identify and highlight specific techniques (3) encourage observation of what the music is doing; (4) cast humor on the process, so that student, teacher, and writer are accomplices in the same game. The faerie fiddler techniques are reinforced throughout the book (all pieces except Raucous Rondo include spiccato bowing). Clarity and consistency are maintained in the expression markings so that the student will know when and when not to play off the string (only notes with dots are to be played off the string). The solo pieces and the Violin 2 parts of the duos are written in first position. Violin 1 parts of the duos use third position. Duo 4, Just a Dream, also uses fifth position in the upper part. Though the pieces are short and may look easy, their execution offers challenges, given the transparency of the spiccato bowing and ornamentation techniques. I hope The Faerie Fiddler will provide an enjoyable supplement to spiccato, trills, and ornamentation studies. The sample audio file presented here is the Elf Queen's Waltz.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1073229 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 33 pages. DoReMi Edition #677492. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1073229). Chinese Rhapsody No.3 was composed e in Toronto, Canada , 1988. Huang dedicated the piece to the Canadian Saxophonist Paul Brodie who premiered it in Parry sound of Ontario in the same year. Written in Saibei Folk Style, the music is divided into 5 movements without stop. As usual, Huang didn‘t use any folk song . But the typical taste of Huang’s “Zhang Jia Kou[張家å£] accent†is pretty easy to be identified. With the concert virtuosity, the 1st movement is composed as an emotional Cadenza which expresses the profound affections to the land of Saibei. Using the same Alto Sax., the lyric 2nd movement is followed by a folk dance, the 3rd movement. Chang to a Soprano Saxophone, the 4th movement is sound like a dreamy nocturne which is interrupted by the percussions of the fiery 5th movement. The whole Rhapsody ends on a climax of the Chinese Northern west “wind and percussion “styleâ€. Brodie found more than 300 trills in this piece. Perhaps this is the key to perform the music in real Chinese style. Huang has composed 5 versions of these pieces for different ensembles: saxophone solo with piano, or strings, or winds/brasses, or Chinese traditional orchestra, or symphony orchestra. The attached mp3 was performed by the German saxophonist Jurgen Demmler with pianist Peter Grabinger in 1996. Duration: 20’.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350509 By Michael Drake. By Michael Drake. Arranged by Kevin Carberry. Broadway,Contemporary,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter. 89 pages. Michael Gene Drake #935321. Published by Michael Gene Drake (A0.1350509). Jamaica - from the CD SAZZUNK, is a Tropical composition featuring a vocalist but this arrangement has the melody written for Trumpet solo. Simple Tropical Rhythm accents for the horns in the background augment and compliment the flavor for the melody. The soring solos are transcribed so hang on to your hat as it ends with a wild and crazy line for everyone to play! Modulations of the melody push it into new levels of heat followed by a more blazing hot solo at the end!LYRICSI’ve gone away, far away, to find my love in Jamaica,The sky was red, like my love, She’s gone away to the island,I’ll look for her, in the wind,That’s where she left her love for me,And though it might take for ever,My love for her flows endlessly,Chasin’ all my dreams, as far as they may go,You’re the one I love and you’re the one I need.I’ve gone away far away, to find my love in Jamaica,She was to me loves breath of live,Without her I’m not whole,I was to her, I thought the same,She left me amidst the game,Is there no hope for a man, Who’s lost his love to the wind
