My Prelude on the hymn tune Terra Beata (This Is My Father's World) is intended for church pianists looking for interesting arrangements of hymns familiar to their congregations.  It is one of two settings for piano of Terra Beata that I have written.  This setting begins with an introduction followed by a statement of the hymn tune, the phrases of which are succeeded by interludes of varying lengths.  After that, the second half of the tune is restated in augmentation, moving at half the original speed.  A brief postlude brings the piece to a joyous conclusion.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

This concerto was composed to give value as an artistic literature to such a familiar theme. In this concerto “Arirang�, I want both the performers and the audience to feel “musical sympathy�. Following the short and fast introduction in 3/4 time, it is connected in the form of 5 variations in 6/8 time. Each variation expresses a different musical atmosphere, performance speed, or change in composition. In general, the main melody is mainly played by the first violin, but as far as the main melody is concerned, in this music, high-pitched instruments and low-pitched instruments intersect and cycle in equal positions, not in a melodicline relationship. After the fourth variation, a virtuosic solo of the movement alone is connected, and after the finale with a broad and majestic atmosphere, it ends with a short and lively coda with the same character as the beginning.
