Bjorck notes that, when he created this piece, he visualized an antique music box which--when played--would evoke nostalgic memories of a loving Grandmother playing the box for her grandchildren. The melody is reminiscent of old music box tunes, and it fades slowly as the piece ends, suggesting that the listener leaves the lid open so the echoes and memories can continue on in the listener’s heart.

This suite of lovely melodies and spritely dances was created by Ukrainian composer Viktor Kosenko (1896-1938) in 1935.  The haunting Melody, the Olden Dance's minuet, the jocular Scherzino and the lively March are a perfect works appropriate for the young violist to display their talent.  Written to be played in first position these works serve an educational as well as an artistic purpose.  Viktor Kosenko was one of the early pioneers in Music Education in the Soviet Union.  His death in 1938 remains unexplained.

He is best known for his experimental and avant-garde style of music, which often incorporated elements of rock, jazz, and classical music. One of his most famous pieces is Igor's Boogie, a jazz-influenced instrumental that was first recorded for his 1971 album Chunga's Revenge.Igor's Boogie is a frenetic, energetic piece that is propelled by a driving bass line and a raucous saxophone solo. Zappa himself played all of the instruments on the track, including the guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone. The song also features an array of sound effects and a number of spoken interjections, all of which add to its frenetic energy. The song was popular in the early 1970s, and was covered by numerous artists including the jazz fusion group Return to Forever. Igor's Boogie remains one of Zappa's most popular and enduring compositions, and is a testament to his skill as a composer and musician.
