Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1120365 By Philip Le Bas. By J-B Lully / G Bizet. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #721616. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1120365). A new arrangement by Philip Le Bas of a thirteenth century French Christmas carol from Provence harmonized by Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-87, attrib.) and, more famously, by Georges Bizet (1838-75, in his L'Arlesienne Suite of 1872.) In France the melody is still tightly associated with Christmas, and French audiences start singing their own Christmas words whenever they hear the melody (the arranger has heard it himself!) The English translation used here is adapted from a variety of sources. The three kings (or more precisely the magi from St Matthew's gospel) are seen marching towards Bethlehem with their fantastic golden wealth and grandeur. But why are they going to see a low-born baby and why do they worship this child who will die on a cross? The organ sets the scene from the beginning with its marching accompaniment, and the first verse is sung in unison by all three parts. The second begins with a canon, as used by Bizet, and then breaks into harmony. The first section of the third verse is much quieter and legato, sung by the sopranos and altos, using wonderful chromatic harmonies based on another section from Bizet's suite. The lyrics express wonder at the beautiful music heard from the camp of the kings. The second section, sung in differentiated unison then begins to wonder why the kings stoop so low to a baby in a manger. Finally the fourth verse, sung in full harmony, returns to the marching accompaniment and reiterates the amazement of meeting these kings with their mysterious mission. The carol is aimed at parish choirs with limited resources, but a good organist. The melody is well-known, much of it is in unison, and other sections are relatively easy to sing. Care should however should be taken to sing the dotted rhythms accurately - this is what gives the carol its marching character.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257721 Composed by Jakob Hintze. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Easter,Sacred. 24 pages. Con Spirito Music #850950. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1257721). An ideal hymn selection for Easter Sunday, Eastertide, or at any celebration of the eucharist, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing is one of many hymns translated from Latin by Robert Campbell (1814-1868), a Scottish advocate (lawyer) and Roman Catholic layperson. First published in 1850, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing was one of four of Campbell's hymn texts to be included in Hymns Ancient & Modern (1861), the first standardized and popular hymnal of the Anglican Church. The tune accompanying the text, known as SALZBURG, is attributed to the German composer Jakob Hintze (1622-1702). Its harmonization has long been attributed to J.S. Bach and numbered among his works as BWV 262. However, the New Edition of the Complete Works of Bach, published by Barenreiter, no longer recognizes this, and the harmonization matches that of Johann Pachelbel's Alle Menschen müssen sterben — Choral mit 8 Partiten (Chorale with 8 Variations) of 1683.Regardless of the authorship of text or tune, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing is a richly theological, grand hymn that references God's saving works in both the Old Testament and the New, culminating in Christ's victorious resurrection and his triumph over sin and death, and celebrates his feeding of the faithful gathered for the eucharistic feast with his Body and Blood. This arrangement for organ and brass quintet begins with alternating fanfares for organ and brass, followed by:Verse 1: organ accompanimentVerse 2: brass accompanimentVerse 3: organ accompaniment with solo trumpet punctuationsInterludeVerse 4: organ and brass accompaniment in alternate harmonizationCoda recapitulating the introductory fanfares Includes full score, parts for organ, Bb tpt. 1, Bb tpt. 2, F horn, tbn, tuba, and reproducible bulletin insert for voices ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490482 Composed by Hebridean folk melody. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Christmas,Folk,Sacred,Traditional. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1067324. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1490482). “The Christ Child's Lullaby” is an English translation of the Scots Gaelic “Tàladh Chrìosda,” a Christmas carol adapted and popularized in the 20th century from a longer work written in 1855 by Catholic priest Ranald Rankin for his parishioners at Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.Rankin’s hymn, representing a lullaby for the Christ Child by the Virgin mother Mary, was intended for performance at Midnight Mass (the first mass of Christmas) and is still sung then at churches in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland today. Titled “Tàladh ar Slànaigheir” (“The Lullaby of our Savior”) and containing 29 verses, it is altogether a lullaby, a retelling of elements of the Nativity story, and an explication of the nature and work of Christ. The English text of “The Christ Child’s Lullaby” (containing three verses and alleluias) is one of many translations, adaptations, and variants of the original Scots Gaelic text. The tune, too, is one of many variants of a traditional Hebridean folk melody. It has been further adapted and newly harmonized in this medium-easy arrangement for SATB choir and organ, featuring solo soprano on verse 1, sopranos-altos in open harmonies on verse 2, and full SATB in rich harmonies on verse 3 and the concluding “Alleluias.”Voices realized by Cantamus (https://cantamus.app/); organ realized by NotePerformer (https://www.noteperformer.com)©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726091 Composed by Traditional Basque Carol. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christmas,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Score and parts. 18 pages. Con Spirito Music #4798963. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726091). Gabriel's Message (The Angel Gabriel to Heaven Came) is a folk carol from the Basque Country, the region that straddles the westernmost Pyrenees Mountains in adjacent parts of northern Spain and southwestern France. A vernacular paraphrase of the 13th/14th-century Latin carol, Angelus ad virginem, the text was translated from Basque and paraphrased into English by the Anglican priest and scholar Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924). Commonly sung at Advent and Christmas, Gabriel's Message quotes the biblical account of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) and the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) in its opening lines:The angel Gabriel from heaven came, his wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame; All hail, said he, thou lowly maiden Mary, most highly favoured lady. Gloria! The Basque tune was collected and published by the French composer Charles Bordes (1863-1909) in Archives de la tradition basque (1890) and was arranged and published by the English organist/choirmaster Edgar Pettman (1866-1943) in his 1892 collection, Modern Christmas Carols. Pettman's setting remains a favorite among choirs to this day. This arrangement features each of the voices of the brass quintet on the tune and augments the ensemble with optional finger cymbals and tambourine. ©Copyright 2019 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1518751 By Paul Taylor. By HC Work. Arranged by Paul Taylor. Folk,March,Patriotic. Score. 3 pages. Paul Taylor #1092874. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1518751). In the late 1800's this Union song was written from the perspective of a Union soldier in General Sherman's famous, march through the confederate state of Georgia to the sea. It was so popular that the printed music sold over 500,000 copies and General Sherman even had to ask that it not be played at gatherings in his honor. This arrangement is extramusical in that it includes battle conditions. There are fife and drum sections that depict both General Sherman's army and General Slocum's army of the Ohio that enters from Sherman's left flank during the battle.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1000186 Composed by Kalynn Fleischman. Christmas,Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Kalynn Fleischman #6514387. Published by Kalynn Fleischman (A0.1000186). Hello all, Here is a short piece I wrote for a friend who wants to get back into practicing music. For the title you might be asking: is this piece about something that happened in or around march on a snowy day? Or is it about the literal act of marching through the snow? Is this piece in and of itself a marching tune that is evocative of snow-like imagery? Did Kalynn specifically pick this title because of it's ambiguity? Could it even be of the above? For now, I think I'll leave such questions unanswered to not rob you of the experience of coming to your own conclusions.
