It is from the Civil War era but may have been written before 1860. The original is a piano piece that is probably based on a brass band piece. An interesting feature is that the time signature starts out in six-eight and switches to two-four in the middle of the piece. It is, at most, a grade 3. Fun to play and listen to. Instrumentation of this edition is for modern concert band.

A German oom-pah band — composed of Axis powers leaders Joseph Goebbels on the trombone, Heinrich Himmler on the snare drum, Hideki Tojo on the sousaphone, Hermann Goering on the piccolo and Benito Mussolini on the bass drum — marches noisily at four o'clock in the morning through a small town where the trees, windmills, fence posts, and even the clouds are shaped like swastikas while singing the virtues of the Nazi doctrine.
