Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.841180 By James Taylor. By James Taylor. Arranged by John Murphy C.S.M.V. Rock. Guitar Tab. 6 pages. John Murphy #5792957. Published by John Murphy (A0.841180). You Can Close Your Eyes     James TaylorLearn this classic James Taylor song and master his characteristic finger picking guitar technique. You will learn: 4/4 Fingerpicking rhythm patterns that you can use in many other songs and other genres.Popular and widely used great guitar chord inversions (also sometimes called slash chords, e.g. G/B )to create interesting bass lines that complement the melody of the tune and give direction and forward momentum to the song’s chord progression. Bass driven chord progressions are a characteristic feature of accomplished guitarists like James Taylor and Chet Atkins.‘Clawhammer’ technique or ‘Travis picking’ are the names often given to a style of playing four bass notes to the bar (usually alternating from root to fifth of the chord played with the R.H.thumb). If you listen to the great country guitarist Chet Atkins you will hear this ‘clawhammer’ style in most of his guitar arrangements.Useful hammer-ons/pull-offs and passing notes that will improve your technique and add a professional touch to enhance your guitar performances. See bar for 8 hammer on the A sus chord and also on the B minor in bar 32. Note the pull off on G chord in bar 11.Intro and outro sections are included in this James Taylor guitar arrangement of ‘You can close your eyes’Most songs have intros and outros so that the singer can get the tempo and start in the right key. However, many published arrangements often just start on a pick-up note or two on the last beat of the bar with no chord indicated and end the song on a chord that is not the tonic or main key chord that tells the listener the song has ended. ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ by John Denver is a good example. In the key of ‘D’ the song starts with the notes ‘C#’ and ‘E’ and then the first bar is indicated as ‘D’ major chord. If you start the song playing a ‘D’ chord you will most likely sing the wrong notes because ‘C#’ and ‘E’ belong to the A7 chord of the song. So a simple 2 bar intro of ‘D’ , A7 (start singing on the last beat) and back to ‘D’ would help the singer to get the tempo and sing the correct pick-up notes. The printed sheet music of ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ ends on an ‘A7’ chord of the chorus and as such does not indicate that the end chord should be ‘D’. So it is not always safe to assume that the end chord in printed music indicates the key of the song. Lyrics with chord symbols to show when to change chords. Matching the fingerpicking tab or sheet music to the lyrics can sometimes prove difficult so I have included a lyrics sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ with chord symbols. This is a very popular format to give an indication when to change chords. However, the drawback is that there is no way of knowing how long each chord lasts as the bar structure is missing. But once you learn the bar structure from the sheet music or tab part you will find this Lyrics and chords sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ your go to page for performing the song until you know it from memory.Downloads available Include:Score Tab Chords Lyrics For GuitarNotes Chords Lyrics For GuitarTab Chords Lyrics For GuitarIf you like or buy this arrangement it helps if you leave even a brief review- two words( very good) or even better one word (Awesome) :) Contact me at info@guitarlessonsdundrum.com

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1124099 Composed by Dietrich Buxtehude 1637-1707. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Traditional. 24 pages. Jmsgu3 #724841. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1124099). Toccata BuxWV 155 in D Minor for String Quartet. Score: 12 pages. Duration: 5:38Dieterich Buxtehude (c. 1637–1707) was a German organist and composer of the Baroque era. He is known for his large-scale works, including the Toccata in B flat major (BuxWV 155), which is one of his most famous pieces. The Toccata was composed in 1690 and is a virtuosic display of the organ’s power and range. The piece begins with a long and stately introduction, which is followed by a lively and energetic fugue. The fugue is then repeated, but with different variations. This creates an exciting contrast and a sense of musical momentum. The piece ends with a short, chromatic passage which leads to a triumphant conclusion. The Toccata is one of Buxtehude’s most popular and beloved works and it has been performed and recorded by many renowned musicians. It is a testament to the great skill and creativity of Buxtehude, and is a beloved example of Baroque music.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1322867 Composed by Malcolm D Robertson. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 111 pages. Mr Malcolm D Robertson #911135. Published by Mr Malcolm D Robertson (A0.1322867). Composed between the end of December 2022 & the start of July 2023. The Symphony is in 4 movements following a more classical ordering and is a little under 35 minutes in length. The initial rising scale idea with 'missing' notes pervades much of the material in the symphony The symphony took longer to compose than is normal for me as it was composed during the difficult period of my father's swiftly evolving final illness, death & dealing with the aftermath. The shadow of my father's final illness & witnessing his swift decline particularly hangs over the slow 2nd movement. The first movement after a broad but forward moving introduction, is energetic with a continual forward momentum. The 3rd movement is a deliberately elusive scherzo movement with a strange inconclusive coda. The finale, after a reserved opening is surprisingly optimistic pushing to a sonorous conclusion. As is the norm for me, I composed directly into full score.Orchestral parts can be supplied upon request.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.805867 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by G L Harvey. Baroque,Concert,Graduation,Standards,Wedding. 23 pages. G L Harvey #5197937. Published by G L Harvey (A0.805867). This piano classic in C minor, second in the series of J S Bach's 48 Preludes & Fugues, has been arranged for Saxophone Quartet (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone).   With concerts, recitals and wedding performances in mind, this arrangement will be popular with players and audiences alike. The Prelude has an irrevocable sense of momentum, only sated with a short cadenza like flourish and a final bout of arpeggios. The Fugue allows all four voices to develop and flourish after the forced regimentation of the Prelude. The difficulty level for the Prelude is about ABRSM grade 5-6 (there is also a substitute Soprano part on Alto to avoid some low C-Bb combinations if required), and the Fugue is a little higher.  The PDF is 23 pages in length (portrait A4) and includes a full score and parts. The combined duration of the Prelude & Fugue is about 3 minutes 20 seconds.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1096281 Composed by Mark Lehnowsky. A Cappella,Classical,Contest,Festival. Octavo. 4 pages. Mark Lehnowsky Music #700249. Published by Mark Lehnowsky Music (A0.1096281). A choir favorite, Gather the Stars is a setting of the Carl Sandburg poem Stars, Songs, Faces. My favorite aspect of Carl Sandburg's poetry is that he captures profound thoughts with simple language and direct language. It is a composer's dream. We spend our whole lives chasing our dreams, only to one day let go and say goodbye. Similarly, the piece spends two minutes gathering stars, songs, and faces, gaining momentum...until everything fades again into a beautiful background of stars. Thank you to the 2009 PMEA Region V Choir and Dr. Christopher Kiver for this beautiful performance.
