Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976727). It was one of those accidents where you find something useful when you’re looking for something else. While reading on the nature of worship, a particular blog article ended with Adoniram Judson’s early 19th Century baptismal poem, Come Holy Spirit, Dove Divine. The flowing text called out (at least to me!) for a musical setting. Accordingly, some melodic and harmonic ideas began to percolate in my thoughts. However, before getting very far along in writing a tune, there were two surprises in store. First many others had already set the text to music before (with a multitude of tunes) going back to at least 1833. Second, despite being a Baptist for over forty years, I discovered that this hymn has been in the Baptist Hymnal since 1956 yet I have no recollection of every singing it! Well, chagrined at my ignorance, I carried on writing a new melody and harmony for this deserving text. I sought to make it friendly to congregational singers while still containing rich and sing-able harmonies and so aimed for a four-part hymn-style form. However, as I suspect my ignorance of the hymn is a common condition, a fresh and modern tune which would be at home in varied musical styles and have popular appeal was also pursued. The result is a delightful and uplifting tune, easy to sing, with an optimistic and forward momentum, commensurate with the meaning of believers’ baptism, Buried with Him in baptism; raised to walk in new life. The music is flexible in application to many church music styles: praise team and band, choir and organ, congregation and piano, or mix and match to fit your needs. May you find Come, Holy Spirit, Dove Divine, singing a much needed text, a means for your congregation to joyfully join with new believers in celebration of their baptism!

Estas ceremonias pueden tener como objetivo tener una buena cosecha, alejar un mal sobrenatural, mejorar las condiciones de vida, tener abundancia económica o un buen año. Durante estas ceremonias se ofrendan bebidas como tepache y mezcal, alimentos y música, incluyendo sones y jarabes para bailar.Rito Marcelino Rovirosa, es un ilustre compositor mexicano conocido como el “hijo de la sierra mixe�, nació en Asunción Cacalotepec, Mixe, Oaxaca el 07 de abril de 1908 y falleció en Santiago Zacatepec Mixe, Oaxaca el 05 de julio de 2000 a la edad de 92 años. Rovirosa dejó un legado de más de 200 obras que se extendieron más allá de su región y fueron interpretadas por las bandas filarmónicas de casi todos los estados de la República Mexicana. Entre sus creaciones se encuentran sones y jarabes mixes, himno mixe, los mixes, fandango mixe, raza mixe, rey condoy, lustre, fiesta animada, viuda alegre, alegría de mi alma, nueva esperanza, mi paisano y pájaro montañero. Sin embargo, no todas sus obras fueron conocidas o grabadas; dejó muchas inéditas e incluso escribió varias piezas a petición de otros músicos quienes le solicitaron que las dejara sin título ni autoría. Marcelino Rovirosa vivió como cualquier otro campesino; dedicaba su tiempo a cuidar sus cultivos de café, maíz y frijol. Las noches eran sus momentos favoritos para escribir sus obras inspirándose en la naturaleza, el canto de los pájaros y las convivencias con sus paisanos. Nadie hubiera imaginado que un indígena mixe iba a trascender con su música más allá de la frontera mixe. En la década de los años cuarenta del siglo pasado fue humillado por el mandamás de su pueblo quien lo envió a la cárcel acusándolo falsamente. Fue llevado a pie amarrado de las manos y sujetado por una cuerda por los guardianes desde su natal Asunción Cacalotepec hasta la cabecera distrital de Santiago Zacatepec un pueblo que lo adoptaría más tarde, después de caminar más de 10 horas en plena serranía fue conducido directamente a la cárcel donde permaneció durante tres años. Mientras estaba en la cárcel su creciente fama como buen músico llegó a oídos de las autoridades del pueblo, del agente del ministerio público, del juez que llevaba su caso y también de don Luis Rodríguez Jacob, líder de la comunidad y del distrito mixe. A pesar de estar privado de su libertad gozaba de algunos tratos preferenciales que los demás no tenían. Fue incluido en la banda de música que viajó a la ciudad de Oaxaca, junto con las autoridades municipales para participar en un evento oficial que resultó ser todo un éxito. Al término de la misión y de regreso a Zacatepec don Luis Rodríguez encomendó a los maestros de música y al distinguido Marcelino Rovirosa que escribieran una melodía representativa de la región mixe. Rito regresó como era natural a la cárcel municipal y puso manos a la obra; le facilitaron papel pautado y pluma y en pocos días la obra solicitada quedó lista y lo tituló “fandango mixe� nombre sugerido por don Luis Rodríguez.

The partitas were published as Bach's Opus 1 in 1731, showcasing the diversity of forms and ingenious counterpoint in his keyboard writing.  Partita No. 2 was one of the earliest partitas to be published individually in 1727, highlighting its significance.  Musical Characteristics It opens with a grand Sinfonia movement akin to a French overture, followed by an expressive Andante aria-like movement.  The fugue movement has an intense subject spanning a minor 9th interval. It includes a double (ornamented variation) of the traditional Sarabande dance movement. It is sung by Musetta, in the presence of her bohemian friends, hoping to reclaim the attention of her occasional boyfriend Marcello. This scene takes place at the Café Momus [fr]. Shortly after Mimì, Rodolfo, and their friends have taken seats for a drink, Marcello's former girlfriend, Musetta, shows up with her current patron, the elderly Alcindoro. They quarrel for a bit, then the episode begins as Musetta initiates her move on Marcello. She grabs the spotlight, musically speaking, for a short self-promoting aria (Quando me'n vo'). It is a song directed at the people in the café as much as at the audience in the theater. Popular renditions of the melody were produced during the 1950s, including an American Top 40 hit by Sammy Kaye (You) and a version by Della Reese (Don't You Know?), which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Quando me'n vo', also known as Musetta's Waltz, is a soprano aria, a waltz in act two of Puccini's 1896 opera La bohème. It is sung by Musetta, in the presence of her bohemian friends, hoping to reclaim the attention of her occasional boyfriend Marcello. This scene takes place at the Café Momus [fr]. Shortly after Mimì, Rodolfo, and their friends have taken seats for a drink, Marcello's former girlfriend, Musetta, shows up with her current patron, the elderly Alcindoro. They quarrel for a bit, then the episode begins as Musetta initiates her move on Marcello. She grabs the spotlight, musically speaking, for a short self-promoting aria (Quando me'n vo'). It is a song directed at the people in the café as much as at the audience in the theater. Popular renditions of the melody were produced during the 1950s, including an American Top 40 hit by Sammy Kaye (You) and a version by Della Reese (Don't You Know?), which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
