Only at this moment does the narrator realize that it is Christmas day and the reader is left to ponder their devotional obligation to the poor. Apart from being a monumental target for parody, the text demanded to be set to gothic Halloweeny music. Expect unrepentant stealing from Gesu bambino and a nod to Handel’s French overture style. The original wood block part (suggesting the clattering of clogs in the dance) can either be played by an extra person (possibly recruited from the audience) or, if preferred, substituted by the suggested brass writing. As well as acting as a solo moment for the tuba player the piece can be treated as a novelty moment in the programme if performed with some humour. An ideal item as an encore or in demonstration situations.

I got married in July 2021 and this song was considered to be what my wife would walk down the aisle to. We ended up choosing a different selection, but I still was happy with how the composition turned out. It is a joyous piece that begins with simple arpeggios that have a forward motion as guests enter. The theme then develops and gets faster and more involved as the wedding party begins to walk. It is most triumphant when the bride is walking down the aisle. When she reaches the end of her walk, with her father next to her, an important moment happens. He gives her away to the groom as the groom's parents watch nearby. They watch their children join together as one.
