By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Maria João Maia. 20th Century,Pop. Score. 3 pages. Maria João Maia #806078. Published by Maria João Maia (A0.1207953).

4 Hands version, intermediate level, perfect to motivate teenagers in the piano lesson :) Personally tested with my own students! When you don't know what piece to give for 2 friends who want to play together, who's taste is more directed for pop music....why not some good oldies?
Being a classical pianist, it's difficult to find good material for students who prefer to play pop music. So I decided to go for the amazing 70's and arrange some songs myself. They came out so good, that I needed to share them with the world!

That's Not Right is a song about one's motivation for wanting to pastor a mega church. I have heard it said that, I want to be a pastor of a big rich church of thousands. I thought that Jesus wanted to make disciples and catch fish so that people can get saved. Doing church is not about making money. That's not right, those motives are not true! What is the reason for you to plant of start a church? This is the score for piano and vocals.

By Donna Summer. By Donna Summer and Michael Omartian. Arranged by Kathleen McGuire. Disco. 44 pages. Kathleen McGuire #859859. Published by Kathleen McGuire (A0.1267220).

SCORE AND SET OF PARTS TO ACCOMPANY THE WOMEN'S CHORAL ARRANGEMENT
A Donna Summer hit from post-disco / new wave era (1983), She Works Hard for the Money is more than a fun pop piece. The song tells a story of a hard-working blue-collar woman, based on inspiration Summer found after the 25th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony (23 Feb 1983) when she attended an after-party. She encountered a restroom attendant named Onetta Johnson (whose name is mentioned in the song) whom she found sound asleep - despite a blaring TV - exhausted from working long hours.

Summer related the story in an interview: I looked at her and my heart just filled up with compassion for this lady, and I thought to myself: God, she works hard for the money, cooped up in this stinky little room all night. Then I thought about it, and I said, She works hard for the money... She works hard for the money...This is it! This is it! I know this is it!

The arrangement opens with an a cappella introduction in full harmony. The melody moves between the altos and sopranos, with each part otherwise providing rhythmic support (echoing the instrumental accompaniment). The sopranos divide into 3 parts occasionally, allowing some high voices (A-flat) to shine. There are no solos in this arrangement - your women all have opportunity to sing this powerful, true story that serves more broadly as an allegory for women's rights and socioeconomic hardship. The arrangement is a show-stopper, bound to get audiences clapping and even up out of their seats!

Provided: Conductor's Score and Set of Band Parts: Trumpet in B-flat, Tenor Sax, Synth (Strings), Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drum Set.

By Peggy Lee. By Joe McCoy. Arranged by Michael Thomas Coull. 20th Century,Blues,Contemporary,Jazz,Standards. 10 pages. MTC Publishing #859768. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1267134).

Why Don't You Do Right (Get Me Some Money, Too) - Choral Arrangement for SATB and Piano arranged by Michael Thomas Coull

Why Don't You Do Right (Get Me Some Money Too!) was originally recorded as Weed Smoker's Dream and is an American blues and jazz-influenced pop song written by ‘Kansas Joe’ McCoy and Herb Morand in 1936.  Both men are given composer credits on the original 78 record label, although Morand’s name is misspelled.

In 1936, the Harlem Hamfats recorded the Weed Smoker’s Dream.  Band member Joe McCoy later rewrote the song, refining both the composition and lyrics.  The new tune, titled Why Don't You Do Right (Get Me Some Money Too!), was recorded by Lil Green in 1941, with guitar by William ‘Big Bill’ Broonzy.  The minor key twelve-bar blues song, with a few chord substitutions, proved popular and quickly became a jazz standard.

With its roots in blues music, the song originally dealt with a marijuana smoker reminiscing about lost financial opportunities.  After it was rewritten, it took on the perspective of the female partner, chastising her man for his irresponsible ways:  ‘Why don't you do right, like some other men do?  Get out of here and get me some money too!’

A wonderful bluesy arrangement for full SATB choir with piano accompaniment, not just fun for the choir to sing, but also one the audience will really enjoy too.

Composed by Dennis A. Westgate. Children,Christmas,Contemporary,Musical/Show. Octavo. 59 pages. Tyne Music #5953757. Published by Tyne Music (A0.999352).

Deep in the heart of Dingle Woods everyone is preparing for Christmas. On a
tree stump Barny the barn owl wakes from his slumbers, winks, blinks and toowit-toowoos.
Woody the little fir tree is feeling very sorry for himself, bemoaning the fact that all of
his leafy friends have been taken by the townspeople for their Christmas festivities and
even the late arrival of Jack Frost, a most exuberant character, finds it difficult to lift our
little friend’s spirit with his cheerful banter.
And so our fir tree resigns himself to make the best of Christmas Eve as all
the forest creatures hurry off home to prepare for the coming celebrations. However,
things take a sudden turn when he overhears the fox and weasel devising a cunning plan
to make a pile of money, by going into the ‘Wholesale Toy Business’.
Of course when others hear about the plan, Woody becomes nominated to
save Christmas and sets out on his adventure, with a little help from the Christmas Fairy,
Snowy White the snowman and Gordon the Garden Gnome, along with other forest
friends. Needless to say Foxy and Weazy get their just deserts, but just how this comes
about, will have to remain a secret until ............

This album includes the Piano & Vocal Score along with the full Libretto.

For full information please see my website:- https://www.tynemusic.com/woody’s-christmas-adventure

P.S. Owing to the high cost in orchestration The music is only available as a piano score with lyrics and chords. However this is reflected in the price. You would have to add your own instrumentation, but this would be an excellent opportunity for any up and coming senior music student to take on.
