Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1366026 By Ken Medema. By Ken Medema. Arranged by Ken Medema. Christian,Contemporary,Religious. 13 pages. Ken Medema Music #950379. Published by Ken Medema Music (A0.1366026). Is There a Place for DreamingIs there a place for dreamingIn the corners of your mind…In a world where dreams are broken,And dreamers hard to find?Do you dream and weep sometimesAbout the way that things should be?Come dreaming with me, come dreaming with me,Admission is free. Do you dream of another countryWhere there is no push and shove…where the rich don’t rule and the poor are fed,And the only law is love,And a neighbor is a neighbor, And there is trust and loyalty?Come dreaming with me, dreaming with me,Admission is free. When I was a boy, I used to daydream a lot,And they told me that it would not last;Wouldn’t have time for such a waste of my mind,When my life started moving fast. Now that I’m grown, I find that life with no dreamIs a hell I refuse to bear.If it’s alright, I want to open my mindAnd see if my dreams are still there. Is there a place for dreamingIn the corners of your mind…In a world where dreams are broken ,And dreamers hard to find?Do you dream and weep sometimesAbout the way that things should be?Come dreaming with me, come dreaming with me,Admission is free.

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1273084 By Keith Terrett. By Duke Ellington/Barney Bigard. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Jazz,Standards. 11 pages. Keith Terrett #865274. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1273084). An arrangement of C Jam Blues for Brass Quintet. The extra parts are not necessary, but are provided if you have extra players such as a Bb Piccolo Trumpet & Bb Trombone/Euphonium in TC.New Orleans-born clarinetist Barney Bigard is likely the originator of this tune, a simple blues riff in the key of C. Since Bigard was a veteran member of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra in 1941, Duke had a slice of the pie, too, and undoubtedly arranged the piece for the orchestra. Yet Duke referred to the number somewhat disparagingly as “one of our more or less trite things.â€The number was introduced in a Soundie short film. These three-minute features, produced to be shown on a jukebox-type player, illustrated the band miming to a pre-recorded performance. Entitled “Jam Session†the Soundie was filmed late in 1941 along with four other Ellington numbers. Duke introduces various band members, who then solo: Ray Nance (violin), Ben Webster (tenor sax), Rex Stewart (cornet), Joe “Tricky Sam†Nanton (trombone), and Sonny Greer (drums). The complete ensemble carries the tune to its finish with composer Bigard (clarinet) providing some improvised upper register piping.“C Jam Blues†was formally recorded under that title in January, 1942, for RCA Victor Records. It continued be a staple of the Ellington repertoire, generally featuring a handful of the soloists in the band.Co-composer Barney Bigard left Duke’s band in June 1942, and after a period of freelancing joined Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars in August, 1947. “C Jam Blues†was one of his nightly features with Satch’s ensemble along with “Tea for Two.†Despite playing the tune hundreds, or perhaps even thousands of times during his tenure with Ellington and Armstrong, he continued to perform it during his freelance years in the 1950s until shortly before his death in 1980.In the late-1950s very simple words were added (“Baby, let’s go down to ‘Duke’s Place’,†etc.) which strangely took a three-member team of writers to assemble: songwriters William Katz and Ruth Roberts and record producer Bob Thiele. Clarinetist Barney Bigard was not included in the composer credits of the song version, although he was a member of Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars when they recorded “Duke’s Place,†featuring Louis on the vocal, with Ellington in 1961.The piece typically features several improvised solos. The final solo continues in the upper register as the entire ensemble comes in and the music grows to a climax. The melody likely originated from the clarinetist Barney Bigard in 1941, but its origin is not perfectly clear. It was also known as Duke’s Place, with lyrics added by Bill Katts, Bob Thiele and Ruth Roberts Western Swing band leader Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys recorded the song sometime between mid-1945 through 1947 as part of the Tiffany Transcriptions. The 10-note occasional riff formed the basis of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band’s novelty song Intro Outro.Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887055 Composed by Folk Song. Arranged by Marilena Zlatanou. A Cappella. 8 pages. Marilena Zlatanou #3033145. Published by Marilena Zlatanou (A0.887055). GREEK FOLK SONG: THALASAKI MOU (Sea, my dearest) Traditional song from the Aegean Islands arranged for SATB choirIn a country surrounded by an often very stormy sea, and including hundreds of islands, this song is a prayer addressed to it, to spare the lives of loved ones. duration: just under 3' Phonetic transcription in the Latin alphabet is notated right below the original Greek text, English translation, and a key to Greek Pronunciation are provided on the title page. The mp3 file provided is exported from the sibelius file. For more information on the arranger, (member of TONO, the Norwegian copyright org.), please visit website www.zlatanou.net The arrangement attempts to adher to the genuine Greek folk music style as well as allowing some sea waves through it.A piano part is not included but a piano may accompany the choir, dubling the parts, if this is desirable by the conductor. As a Greek living in Norway for most of my adult life, and in my many years’ work as a conductor of a Norwegian choir specializing in Greek music (!), I have experienced the need to enrich the choir’s repertoire with both folk song- as well as other -arrangements of Greek music: This gave me the opportunity to share with our audiences some of the centuries-long musical heritage, as well as helping me make known to them some of the History behind the music of a country of such international historical influence in the past, and such a tourist magnet in our times.

Small Ensemble Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.978194 Composed by Jason A. Heald. Contemporary. Score. 16 pages. Call of the Wild Publishing #6265333. Published by Call of the Wild Publishing (A0.978194). THREE LABE SONNETS for mezzo-soprano and piano is a collection of settings by Louise Labé, (1520-1566), a female French Renaissance poet. Labé was fluent in Latin and Italian, and a trained musician. She wrote twenty-four sonnets.  TRANSLATION Sonnet VIII - I Live, I Die I live, I die, I burn with fire, I drown. It matters very little what I feel; All life is now too real, now too surreal; Joy comes and endless boredom weighs me down, And suddenly I laugh and then I cry; With grief and bliss I’m weeping for the past; Good feelings go away and yet they last, And suddenly I bleed and then I sigh. That’s how it goes. Strange, ever changing love Has worn me out. I wish I were removed From such a star-crossed fate! I need a truce With Lady Luck. Again and yet again, Her wheel is spinning madly to produce This wanton, wild, intense, exquisite pain.     Sonnet XVIII - O Kiss Me O kiss me, kiss me, re-kiss me, and kiss! Be reckless, impudent, hot-headed, bold! O woo me! Pursue me! Kiss me like this: And I’ll give back fifty as hot as red coals. There, is it hurting? Come, let’s soothe the pain. I’ll give you sixty others just like these. And so we’ll kiss again and then again, While we enjoy each other at our ease. I know there’s fire within your unshaped clay, And so, allow me, love, to share my happiness: O let’s make burning passion rule today. I’m fond of doing what I love to do, Yet cannot feel supreme delight unless I have my other wild encounters, too.     Sonnet XIV - As Long As Tears As long as tears can well up in my eyes I’m saddened that our nights are marked by pain. And now my voice expresses once again A plaintive melody I’ve improvised. As long as I can pluck the lute, I try To sing about your charms in my refrain. As long as I can think, my fevered brain Is burning with an ardent zeal. I cry And cry a hundred thousand times for you. But when I feel my whirling thoughts grow still, And when both hand and voice won’t work their will, Because your treachery is piercing through My heart, I’ll know there’s just one final way. I’ll ask for Death to darken that bleak day.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1084402 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. Score. 6 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #688577. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1084402). The second movement of Blaze's Piano Sonata in E Major No. 1, following A Look Into The Past, A Moment In The Present was primarily inspired by Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in F Minor No. 1 and Piano Sonata in C Minor No. 8 “Pathetiqueâ€. I gave it its name because I find it to be a very relaxing and dawdling piece. It reminds me of someone just lounging around and enjoying nothing but taking in the moment. The syncopated melody gives off the feeling that his thoughts are also jumbled together. He is not actively trying to achieve anything, but instead just letting anything come to him. It is supposed to contrast the first movement by being simpler and more relaxing (where the first is dominating and complex). I especially wanted a much more lyrical and monophonic (single voiced) piece to contrast with the polyphony (many voiced) and layers of the first.

White Piano International Publishing #1012405. Published by White Piano International Publishing (A0.1432652). CHARMING DELUSIONS (Un Pasado de Fantasia)Original Piano Solo Music from “FOREVER AMOR”Composed and arranged by Robert Van Horne in 1994Advanced Intermediate Piano Solo Arrangement(This sheet music does not contain the violin and bass scores as heard on the mp3 sample)6 pagesDuration approximately 4 minutesIn 1985, I fell in love with Mexican, Spanish, and Latin music after visiting Mexico City. There I discovered composers like Agustin Lara, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Astor Piazzolla. Despite not speaking Spanish fluently, I'm captivated by the language's musicality. This passion inspired me to compose Latin-style songs in the early 1990s, culminating in my album “FOREVER AMOR,” and later recording the music in 2016 for Piano, Violin and Bass. CHARMING DELUSIONS is a slow waltz that exhibits heart-felt feelings of wishes, desires and fantasies. The music builds on climatic themes and melodic ideas of searching for one’s true love.     Like many tracks on the album, it hints at the possibility of narrating a love tale through the evocative use of imaginary Spanish words. The piano sheet music for CHARMING DELUSIONS is clearly notated, featuring detailed instructions on dynamics, articulation, phrasing, pedal usage, chord symbols, suggested fingerings, and relevant musical terminology. While the mp3 sample includes violin and bass, the sheet music is for solo piano, suitable for intermediate to advanced players and instructors. Flute,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035219 Composed by Piotr Tchaikovski. Arranged by James Strauss. Halloween,Hanukkah,Romantic Period,World. Score and part. 16 pages. James Strauss #5297983. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035219). Writing to his brother Modest on 18/30 January 1877, Tchaikovsky mentioned that the violinist Iosif Kotek had ordered a piece from him for a forthcoming concert. Four days later Kotek wrote to Tchaikovsky: Thank you in advance for the waltz; it will surely be wonderful, as is everything that you compose... this shall be a piece to impress everybody. In another letter from mid/late February, we read: Incidentally, about the waltz. Why force yourself if you are tired? Of course, I would be delighted and infinitely glad if you were to write the waltz, especially since it is for me. I am still very glad that you have even started to think about this.In the period from March to August, we find no further references to work on the Valse. But, given that in March and April, Tchaikovsky wrote his Fourth Symphony, and that in May he was completely absorbed in composing the opera Yevgeny Onegin, it is likely that by this time the Valse had already been completed. It seems that the waltz was partly or wholly orchestrated by Kotek after Tchaikovsky completed the version for violin with piano. This is suggested by two letters from Kotek to Tchaikovsky: in October 1878, the violinist reported to Tchaikovsky on an unsuccessful performance of the piece: Could my instrumentation be the reason that the waltz did not please?, and early in 1879 he wrote: I think that I badly orchestrated the Waltz ... what extraordinarily empty sounds!. None of Tchaikovsky's letters refer to the orchestration of the piece. Here for the very first time in aversion for flute and piano - I tried to not transcribe the violin part, but re-write the solo part as it was made for flute.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869652 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 44 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #5792165. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869652). Program note: There is a lot of time to compose when you are stuck at home during the Pandemic 2020.. This is the second work I completed under lockdown. The first one, Kindertodtenlieder for soprano and piano, I started on April 26 and it was completed on May 13th.   While exercising at home, I was watching on YouTube Debussy’s Préludes Book 1 and 2, and the idea came to me that I should try my hand at writing something that is impressionistic.   Why not? So I started my own set of preludes using the Debussy as my model.   Each movement will take two or three notes from the original Debussy version and then I would divert and go in a complete different direction, following my gut instinct.   My Préludes like the Debussy is in twelve movements. I. Moderato II. Allegro TRIO III. Allegro IV. Adagio Moderato V. Moderato VI. Largo VII. Moderato VIII. Largo IX. Moderato X. Largo Adagio XI. Moderato alla Marcia XII. Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1050184 Composed by Percy Aldridge Grainger. Arranged by Stephen Davies. 20th Century,Classical. 33 pages. Stephen Davies #654561. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.1050184). Percy Graingers' interesting life and eccentricities are widely known, however he was a master of his art. Most musicians will be familiar with the Tonic-Solfa ( Do Re Me etc), without boring you too much, a 'moveable' Do is the tonic of any key, a 'Fixed Do' is always a C !! In this piece Grainger employs his own 'Immovable Do', a C that is constant throughout the piece, even though it's in F!!! Now this would cause difficulties for any wind group!!! Graingers' instructions for anyone playing the melody on the Harmonium & Organ .. these notes should be stuck fast with pencils, and thus held down to the very end of the piece... So my solution is to seamlessly dovetail the C between an Eb and a Bb Clarinet, so that the fixed Do is to all intents and purposes always sounding. Graingers subtitle to the piece was ' The Cyphering C', which according to Chambers dictionary Cyphering means:- ' In an Organ, continuous sounding of a note not played, due to a mechanical failure '! The more melodic parts are a joy to listen to, with an infectious original tune, weaving between all the players.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970720 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Jazz. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #4830627. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970720). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a lead sheet for a jazz combo or ensemble, a good basis for a variety of arrangements, improvisations, or contrafacts. The audio sample is my melody from Finale PrintMusic, combined with an iReal Pro swing accompaniment. I’ve designated the melody for solo violin, an instrument that I would like to see and hear more often in jazz ensembles.  You will hear a violin carry the melody in the audio sample. Playing the solo on violin solves a possible difficulty in performance. Problem:  This piece may be too challenging for many wind instrument players (brass, woodwind). Solution:  This piece is well suited to a non-wind instrument player!  Violin springs to mind. Violin is especially appropriate here:  This tune has lots of notes; similar to a solo violin partita prelude or up-tempo dance movement by J. S. Bach.  A wind instrument player told me that finding spots for taking a breath was a challenge. This is not to discourage wind players from experimenting with the piece, adjusting it in places if necessary.  A wind player may include more breathing spots for relief in his or her improvisation! Note for composers:  I adapted this piece from the 5th (swing) movement of my Partita II, for solo violin, also for sale on this site.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869118 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 16 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #1914305. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869118). Morango ... almost a tango (1983) is the most popular piece of music from my portfolio of over 150 works!!! It is amazing that the work was conceived thirty years ago!!! Originally, it was just a 32-bar jazz tune I performed every Sunday night with the Moon Unit at the 1369 Jazz Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1980-1984. The string quartet version, although written for the Kronos Quartet, was premiered at Concert X by the Composers in Red Sneakers in Sanders Theater, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 21, 1983. The Red Sneakers String Quartet comprised of Thal Aylward, Melissa Howe, Frank Grimes and Sandy Kiefer. Richard Buell reported in the Boston Globe a few days later that the doleful Morango ... almost a tango got a lot of mileage out of a stubborn, almost unchanging cello line and the elaborations above it. The original program note read, Last summer in Vermont I met Gustavo Moretto, an Argentine composer, who taught me the finer and more beautiful aspects of the Tango. In my modest way, as someone looking in from the outside, I created Morango ... almost a tango - a bastardized version of the 'real thing.' Morango ... is also intrinsically connected to Kate Moran, a sometimes painter ... to whom it is dedicated. The work is played con sordino throughout. I hope the sirens next door don't intrude too much. But then again, John Cage would be delighted. Eventually, the Kronos got around to performing it on tour in Europe in 1986. When they played it as an encore in Italy at the American Academy in Rome, Mya Tannenbaum of the Corriere Della Sera wrote, Non sono mancati i bis. Un richiamo al sex appeal del vecchio tango da parte di un giovane «premio Roma», Tom Lee. Soon after, back in the States, the Kronos performed it at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. John Rockwell wrote in the New York Times, ... a soulfully beautiful score by Thomas Oboe Lee. Three months later the Kronos recorded it on their Nonesuch CD, White Man Sleeps. Many other string quartets, both here and abroad, have since added the work to their repertory. The Lydian String Quartet, especially, have taken the work on their concert tours in the United States, Europe and the former Soviet Union. It appears on a CD recorded by the Lyds in Moscow on MCA Classics. As interest in the work grew, other ensembles have requested arrangements of Morango ... There are now three other versions of the work: one for big band jazz ensemble by Ken Schaphorst, another for string orchestra commissioned by Aram Gharabekian and Sinfonova, and the third for violin and piano commissioned by the Paul Chou-Paul Salerni Duo. Of the string orchestra version, Richard Dyer of the Boston Globe wrote, Lee's piece, Morango ... almost a tango, is a transcription of atmospheric and elegant music originally composed for string quartet; it is as sultry as Faith Domergue in a film noir, and it steams.
