Latvian.Litene is the name of a village in Latvia, which has acquired a significance similar to that of 'Katyn' in Poland. It was in this village that in June 1941 the officer élite of the Latvian army was ambushed, disarmed and deported by the occupying Soviet forces. This despite the fact that the officers as members of the territorial army were at the time under the jurisdiction of the Red Army. The words of the ballad do not express emotions like sorrow, rage or mourning, but shows how base treason renders people heartless. Vasks's music emphasises the irreconcilable difference between negative emotions and a tender, lyrical atmosphere.

BRAVEHEART THEME for piano, in the key of GbThe main theme of Braveheart begins with soft flute-like melody notes against a quiet background.  A fragment of the Scottish tune Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair weaves its way into the bottom of page one, and then deep chords at the top of page two give a low and ominous premonition of battle.  Slowly it builds with bigger chords.  Dissonances compete in the melody and harmony, always building.  Big octave-plus-fifth left hand chords give a medieval sound.The flavor of Braveheart, the movie, is captured in this arrangement.  Not too difficult, but with a few challenges, this is a satisfying piece to play over and over again, emotions soaring and always feeling like you are there with William Wallace in the fight for FREEDOM.Two versions in different keys (F & Gb), but otherwise identical.  The arrangement in F is much easier, of course, and easier to read.  Though most of the music remains in the primary key (either F or Gb) Braveheart travels rapidly through several key transitions on pages 2-3 in the key of F, and pages 2-4 in the key of Gb.Though the key of F is easier, the key of Gb seems to have a special magic, as piano pieces utilizing the black keys frequently do!  The piano recording heard in the video is performed in the key of Gb.

La Voix ('The Voice') is a song by Swedish singer Malena Ernman, which served as the Swedish entry at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, held in Moscow, Russia. It is the first Swedish entry to contain lyrics in French, as well as being the last Swedish entry to have contained lyrics in a language other than English. The song was the winner of Melodifestivalen 2009 on 14 March 2009, earning the right to compete for Sweden in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2009 on 12 May 2009. The song qualified for the final round where it finished in 21st place with 33 points. Despite its disappointing position in the competition results, the song has remained a fan favourite, with its strong, operatic melody and classical harmony. Malena Ernman is a well respected soprano, as well as being the mother of Greta Thunberg and this song would be great paired up with other Eurovision songs, such as ABBA's 'Waterloo'.
