Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1402356 Composed by Ron Goodwin. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 33 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #985569. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1402356). While his scores for both 633 Squadron (1963) and Operation Crossbow (1965) had boasted patriotic, major-key themes celebrating the heroics of the protagonists, composer Ron Goodwin took a different approach for Where Eagles Dare, generating his main theme for the picture out of the initial notes of an ascending minor scale. Rather than celebrate the heroics of the screen characters, the title music embodies the single-minded ambition of the protagonists to infiltrate the mountain fortress of Schloss Adler and complete their mission, no matter what the costs. The composer recalled in a 1994 interview that some of this approach came from the filmâ??s director, Brian Hutton. For instance, he wanted music at the beginning of the film but he also wanted to hear the airplane engines approaching from the distance, which is actually why he started off with just the side drums playing quietly and then building up and getting louder, so that you could actually hear the sound of the airplane before the orchestra comes in. After the snare drum and the â??Aâ? section of the main title comes a melodically related fugal section that, the composer told Randall D. Larson in 1984, was an idea that arose from the â??concept of people following each other around and dodging away from each other...[which] gave me the idea of writing a sort of fugue-style theme...and then I used that in various ways for all the sort of creeping and following and chasing that was going on throughout the film.â?Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!

Digital Download SKU: A0.878593 By Anonymous 4. By Anonymous: Las Huelgas Codex (c. 1400). Arranged by Susan Hellauer. Christmas,Early Music,Medieval,Sacred. 3 pages. Susan Hellauer #3213231. Published by Susan Hellauer (A0.878593). Anonymous two-voice sequence from the Las Huelgas Codex (c. 1300) from Anonymous 4's recording Secret Voices (2011; harmonia mundi 807510). Duration: 2' 46. The medieval sequence (sequentia) is a part of the Proper of the Mass, following the Alleluia. It is characterized by a double-versicle structure (1a-1b, 2a-2b, etc. with occasional variations) for any number of stanzas. They were written in great numbers, for the highest feasts, as well as for the lowliest local saints. With a few exceptions (e.g., Victimae paschali laudes, Dies irae), they were expunged in the 16th century by the Council of Trent. This sweet, intimate sequence is really a duo love song to the Virgin Mary. Although the original notation does not show exact rhythms, Anonymous 4 performed it with a gentle 6/8 sway. Scores in two different keys are included, but this song may be sung in any comfortable key.

Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1216987 Composed by Saint-Saëns, Camille (1835-1921). Arranged by Kamada, Mikio. 20th Century,Opera. 9 pages. ACORDO Sheet Music #813515. Published by ACORDO Sheet Music (A0.1216987). The story of Samson and Delilah is found in the Old Testament. Gaza, an ancient city of Israel, was once ruled by the Philistines. However, the Hebrew hero Samson killed the governor of Gaza. In revenge, the Philistine beauty Delilah tempted Samson to reveal his weakness. This led to the aria Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix, sung at the climax of Delilah's seduction. The aria, written for a mezzo-soprano, beautifully expresses the seductive atmosphere and Delilah's intense passion. It's considered one of the finest arias in all opera. In the scores, the solo part plays both Delilah's and Samson's parts. In the duets period, Delilah's part is played by the piano and the solo instrument plays Samson's part. Samson's part is written in a lower range, emphasizing the contrast with Delilah's part. The original piece is written in D-flat major, which can be challenging for some string players. This version is transposed to G major for their convenience.
