Back then music was not written according to our modern conventions, which means there is no time signature; the music just flows phrase by phrase. This is why the bar lines are dotted – they don’t signify the end of a metrical measure, rather the end of a phrase. Take your time in between phrases, use those fermatas to your advantage! The right hand plays a straightforward melody while the left hand plays a parallel line. In the last measure both hands will move to the higher register and echo the last phrase in a chime-like fashion.
