Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1156211 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 46 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #756525. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1156211). This is the twentieth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 20 (Songs 514-540)Lancashire Peace Egging Song (1)Lancashire Peace Egging Song (2)Lancashire Processional MorrisLand of the Silver BirchLark in the Morn (the)Last Valentine’s DayLavender Cries 1Lavender Cries 2Lay the bent to the bonny broomLeave her JohnnyLeaving of Liverpool (the)Leezie LindsayLemondayLeprehaun (the)Let Me in this Ae NightLi’l Liza JaneLiberty for the SailorsLilliburleroLily-white Boys (the)LimboLimejuice Ship (the)Lincolnshire PoacherLinden LeaLinstead MarketLisbon 1Lisbon 2Lisbon 3.

Trumpet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047904 Composed by Alan Matheson. Blues,Jazz. Individual part. 5 pages. Gordon Cherry #652349. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1047904). Two Songs for Solo Trumpet by Alan Matheson are tributes to great jazz artists who are inspirations to him; Bix Beiderbecke and Woody Shaw. Here is a summary of the composer's own words about these two outstanding movements: The first song For Bix Beiderbecke is a blues-based, elegiac salute to one of the first lyrical jazz brass players who also created a unique musical language in his short life by combining his love of jazz (especially that of Louis Armstrong) with his interest in the music of the Impressionists such as Debussy and Ravel. The second song For Woody Shaw pays a tribute to one of the masters of modern-jazz playing. In his compositions and improvisations, Shaw was very fond of using large intervals (such as minor and major 7ths) along with melodic lines based on the perfect 4th. I have included this sound in the melodic lines of this movement along with some hybrid scales to reflect Woody Shaw's harmonic adventurousness. These two songs total about 5 minutes in length and are appropriate for advanced performers.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955862 Composed by Jerome Kern. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Broadway,Concert,Folk. Octavo. 13 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6504195. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955862). It is known that the song The Land Where the Good Songs Go, did appear in Act I, scene vi of the musical revue Miss 1917 (1917).  It’s not clear whether this song was originally intended for Oh Boy! (1917), but it was used in at least one production to open the second act.  This is an excellent opener for a thematic retrospective program of nostalgic tunes. This arrangement is scored for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 4:04+

For a whole week of Valentine's Day have your students use this fun and engaging sight reading practice with love songs THEY WILL KNOW! I use it as a warm up/ do now at the start of band and choral classes for the first 5-10 minutes or so.These are quick 2, 4, and 8 measure examples totaling 10 songs for the students to practice sight reading using solfege. There are some tricky syncopated rhythms involved as well as key changes (C, G, F, D, Bb).The songs included in the 10 examples are, in order:1. Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis2. Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran3. We Found Love - Rhianna4. Just The Way You Are - Bruno Mars5. She Loves You - The Beatles6. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston7. Shallow - A Star Is Born8. All Of Me - John Legend9. Can You Feel The Love Tonight - Elton John/Lion King10. Love Is An Open Door - FrozenThis is a great warm up exercise at the start of class or rehearsal to get the students focused and their brains warmed up for singing, sight singing, reading, and learning new music.Typically students can take either the whole sheet down in one day and we spend a good majority of a day on it OR spread it out over the week and do 1 or 2 a day.Structure it as best you see fit.The students love competing with each other to see who can figure out the solfege and the song first!Bonus points if they can name the song, artist, and the correct lyrics!

Medium voice and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q46010 Composed by Max Kowalski. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 1. Duration 28 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q46010. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q46010). German • English.Max Kowalski (1882–1956) was a full-time lawyer who never gave up on his passion for music: singing lessons during his law studies, conducting and counterpoint classes, among others, at Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium in addition to his work at his own law office in Frankfurt. While studying, he already published his first works; 15 song cycles were published until 1933. In the years that followed, the Jewish-born Kowalski was restricted in working both as a lawyer and as a composer due to his persecution by the National Socialists. In 1938 he was arrested, deported to the concentration camp of Buchenwald and finally forced to flee into exile in London. Contemporaries called Kowalski a lyricist among the composers. The choice of texts of his songs shows his great knowledge and love of German literature. For example, he set to music texts by Friedrich Hölderlin or Rainer Maria Rilke, but also Indian or Japanese poems. Kowalski left numerous unpublished songs which are published by Schott Music in a two-volume edition: Volume 1 (ED 22586) contains his Jewish songs (1935-37), the Heinrich Heine cycle (1937) and all English-language songs (1941-46). Volume 2 (ED 22587) contains Kowalski's late works: the songs based on texts by Friedrich Hölderlin (1950) and the Geisha Lieder according to Klabund (1951).
