Small Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Double Bass,Guitar,Piano Accompaniment,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522199 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Concert,Holiday,Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 37 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3407717. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522199). These pieces are in jazz and Latin styles and are intended for intermediate students. This is a companion set to Let’s Go! but the music is technically more challenging. The pieces are intended for an end-of-term concert or recital but would be useful for any light hearted occasion. The 15-page piano score also includes the saxophone parts. The highest note in the 1st sax part is (written) D6 and that in the 2nd sax part is C6. Five-page parts for the two E flat alto saxophones are provided as well as an optional part for tenor sax, which is exactly the same part as the 2nd saxophone. In the piano parts the improvisation chords are shown only in the 1st alto part purely for the sake of visual tidiness, but they appear in all the saxophone parts. If the participants do not feel confident enough, the improvising sections can be omitted. The optional guitar and bass parts are combined and the bass part is similar to the left hand of the piano part. An MP3 file of all the piano accompaniments is also available as a separate item. You can find it here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/20679714 All five parts are presented in a single PDF file. The three numbers are: 1. Highway South - This is a jazz style number written in 6/8 time in concert G minor. There is an improvisation section in the minor key which can be repeated as often as required. It’s a real swinger and useful for giving students the experience of working in a minor key. 2. Summer Siesta - This is a slow number in E flat major which gives the opportunity to practise a soft singing tone-quality over chromatic shifts in harmony 3. Tequila Surprise - Written in 4/4 time in E flat, this is a Latin-style fun piece that lets the participants create surprises during the empty bars. The surprises can be musical or non-musical, depending on the performance occasion and there’s an improvisation section which can be repeated as often as required. The audio sample contains all three titles. Play-along backing tracks are available here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/20679714

Jazz Combo - Digital Download SKU: A0.979640 Composed by Roger Aldridge. Jazz,World. Score and parts. 1 pages. Roger Aldridge #432777. Published by Roger Aldridge (A0.979640). This is a romantic samba. I wrote this tune to express my wife's qualities of warmth and surprise...and how she is a wonderful dancer. I think of the tune as being fairly straight-forward; however, it has some surprises. The AB form is unusual in how the A part is 15 measures and the B part is 22. While the music is mostly in 4/4, there are two places where a measure or two of 3/4 is used to shake things up. Harmonically, there is a mix of standard II-V chord changes, parallel harmony, and symmetrical harmony. The melody has a floating quality. The sustained notes give the rhythm section space for fills. Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335072 Composed by James R. Murray. Arranged by Connie Boss. Children,Christmas. Score. 4 pages. Connie Boss #920918. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1335072). I put a twist on Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. I added verses and a different melody along with the familiar melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. This song starts off with a child waiting patiently in line to see Santa so he can tell him what he wishes for him to bring him for Christmas. I started off with my own original melody and lyrics and then in the middle of the song, when the child finally reaches Santa, I switch to the melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. However, to modernize it, I switched to Jolly Old Dear Santa Claus. I kept verse one lyrics the same except for that part. I changed the lyrics entirely for the second verse. The child tells Santa where he can put the presents and hopes one is for him. He also tells him he tries to wait up for him each year, but Santa is so quiet, he sleeps through the night. The last verse is back to my original melody and lyrics where Santa tells him it will be a surprise what he brings him this year. This brings the song all the way from waiting in line to see Santa to sitting on his knee and Santa telling him it will be a surprise. Let me know if you have any questions or request at cdboss@cvalley.net.Lyrics:Here to see Santa Claus “Jolly Old St Nicholasâ€Â I’m here to see Santa Claus But, it’s a long, long line, With lot’s of kids ahead of me, It will take some time I have with me my Christmas listTo tell dear Santa what I wish Now my time is finally hereTo sit up on his kneeHe asked me what I want this yearSo I whisper in his ear Jolly old dear Santa Claus, lean your ear this wayDon’t you tell a single soul what I’m going to sayChristmas eve is coming soon, now you dear old manWhisper what you’ll bring to me – tell me if you can Down the chimney you will comeRight next to the tree,You can put the presents thereI hope there’s one for me You never make any noiseI wait for you each yearBut I sleep all through the nightSo I can’t catch you here Then he looked and smiled at me and whispered in my earIt will be a big surprise what I bring to you this year.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Medium Voice,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.841273 Composed by Chris Gordon. Arranged by Chris Gordon. Folk,Rock. Score and parts. 10 pages. Cool Wind Music Digital #3220995. Published by Cool Wind Music Digital (A0.841273). This is a folk/rock ballad with a twist as the 'story' it tells comes straight out of a novel by German author Günter Grass', Local Anaesthetic (1969). Phillipp (Flip) Scherbaum, a 17-year old Berlin high school student, wants to do something, anything to protest what he has been reading in newspapers has been happening to the people of Vietnam. (Remember this is 1967!) He comes up with an idea:  he has a little Dachshund puppy called Max. Flip decides to burn Max right outside the most famous café in Berlin, Kempinski's (it is still there), to shock complacent Berliners into paying attention to what is happening in Vietnam. His history teacher, Eberhard (Hardy) Starusch, agrees to Flip's protest idea but draws the line firmly against killing an innocent animal. Hardy sets out to dissuade his student from carrying out this doggiecide. Instead, he resolves to steer Flip to less harmful ways of protesting. The effort drives Hardy to a lot of hard thinking and hard drinking and a lot of trips to the dentist!Poor Max is a realisation of one of Hardy's suggestions to Flip: to write and perform a protest song outside Kempinski's - and elsewhere in Berlin, too. You will not be surprised to hear that head-strong Flip rejects this suggestion but I have taken up Hardy's idea and written my own protest song for Flip. The words and the music are my own: I have not borrowed either from anyone else (except for one little phrase which I discovered I had unconsciously borrowed from Robert Schumann)!

Bass Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.923665 By Elvis Presley. By George David Weiss, Hugo Peretti, and Luigi Creatore. Arranged by Josh Cohen. Rock. Score. 8 pages. Josh Cohen #5982139. Published by Josh Cohen (A0.923665). Arrangement of the classic Can't Help Falling in Love for solo six-string electric bass. The arrangement uses advanced tapping and percussive techniques that create the sound of a small ensemble all on an atypical instrument for polyphonic performance, the electric bass. This would be a great choice of repertoire for a college level bass recital or for professional or serious hobbyists looking to expand their technical abilities. To hear what this arrangement sounds like and to see me perform it, click the YouTube link below. About the arranger:Josh Cohen is a multi-award winning six-string bassist, composer, session musician, and music educator (1st place winner of the NAMM 2020 PJB Solo Bass Competition, 2018 Madison Magazine Honoree for Innovation in the Arts, 2015 No Treble's Number 1 Bass Video of the year), who travels frequently throughout North America to perform and teach clinics/workshops including; Bass Boot Camp 2016 and 2019, Gruv Gear’s Clinic Series at Steve’s Music Toronto, Bass Break Live 2017 and 2020, the 2019 Waupaca Bach Festival, Solo Bass Night VI and VII and more. Josh’s solo six-string electric bass performances, which can be heard on his debut 2014 album Out of the Bassment,  use extended techniques to create the sound of an entire band with only one instrument, and without the aid of loop pedals. When listeners hear Josh playing for the first time, they are often surprised to find out that everything they are hearing is being created by one person in real-time.Instagram: @themusicofjoshcohenFacebook: facebook.com/themusicofjoshcohenWebsite: https://www.themusicofjoshcohen.com/

2 Pianos,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1175185 By Paul Posnak & Anita Castiglione. By George Gershwin. Arranged by Paul Posnak. 20th Century,Classical,Jazz,Standards. Score. 10 pages. Paul Posnak #775326. Published by Paul Posnak (A0.1175185). Arrangement for 2 pianos, 4 hands of Swanee by George Gershwin.Foreword by the arranger:George Gershwin, since his days as a teenage song-plugger in Tin Pan Alley, loved the medium of two pianos. A consummate improviser with a harmonically sophisticated, jazz-influenced,orchestral approach to the treatment of melody, he was born into the great age of touring duo piano teams, such as Bauer and Gabrilowitsch, Josef and Rhosina Levine, Luboshutz and Nemenoff, and Gershwin's favorite team, Arden and Ohman. Gershwin loved the multi-voiced orchestral color, power and range of two pianists playing and improvising together. In his first major show written with brother Ira, the 1924 Lady Be Good, he incorporated the renowned team of Phil Ohman and Victor Arden into the musical theater pit orchestra, not only to add to the orchestra's sound and rhythmic drive, but also to play during breaks in the action and during Intermission. They even played encores! This successful formula was repeated for the 1926 show, Oh, Kay, and for the 1927 show, Funny Face.Gershwin's own bravura improvisations on his songs sound, even to the trained ear, like two pianos. I have transcribed (and digitally re-recorded) a number of these improvisations note-for-note from the old LP-remastered 78 rpm records and radio broadcasts. I have tried to capture his own two-fisted orchestral keyboard style: his love of inner voices, contrapuntal runs, jazz figurations, sophisticated chordal textures, and swing. These arrangements resulted from my appearance in 2003 as one of two soloists in several all-Gershwin concerts with The National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch. Marvin suggested that I also play a couple of my Gershwin improvisation transcriptions, and we thought it would be a perfect touch for Lorin Hollander, the other soloist, and me to play a short two-piano piece. I was surprised to find very few two-piano arrangements of Gershwin's songs. I became inspired to fill this void in the duo piano repertoire. It is my hope that these settings will offer a worthy challenge and musical reward for intermediate and advanced piano students and amateurs, and a unique addition to the duo piano literature for professional pianists and duo piano teams the world over.Paul Posnak.
