In one famous episode, for example, Peer steals a bride at her wedding. For this reason, the people chase him, but soon Peer falls, thereupon striking his skull on a boulder. He wakens forthwith in a highland bounded by angry gnomes. Consequently, the music of In the Hall of the Mountain King represents the mad gnomes taunting Peer. Therefore, each time the theme repeats it gets louder and faster. In the end, Peer surprisingly escapes from the mountain. Holberg Suite and Misc. Summary It must be remembered that Grieg originally wrote his Holberg Suite for the piano. In other words, he only later arranged it for strings. It is written in the key of D minor(concert) for the first two sections. The first time through the clarinet has the melody and the second time the piano takes the melody whilst the clarinet embellishes the theme. After a short link it arrives in D major and the same format takes place with variations of the embellishments before a small coda section to finish. I wanted the piece to sound through-composed with just the two sections. It is also more of a duet between clarinet and piano with both sharing the material. Would make a lovely concert piece or addition to the repertoire. It is 4 minutes long -Intermediate level, but the whole score is on here for you to assess suitability.Price is for score and parts.

The Grim Reaper’s Suite consists of five humorous and at the same dark pieces for five guitars to celebrate the humanity of the Grim Reaper. Two of these pieces are the well-known tune of Happy Birthday in two different and witty variations. The work was conceived to be performed live during the projection of a film by Apostolos Paraskevas called I Finally Did It. The work was premiered in 2009 by an array of well-known soloists at the Iserlohn Guitar Festival in Germany. Duration: approx. 10 minutes Apostolos Paraskevas is a classical guitarist and composer as well as an award-winning film director and producer. He has received multiple international awards for his compositions and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is the only guitarist ever to have a major orchestral piece performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lukas Foss––and the only musician who has performed there in a Grim Reaper outfit. He was the founder and served for 16 years as the artistic director of the International Guitar Congress-Festival of Corfu, Greece.  He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys).  After his undergraduate music studies in Volos he pursued advanced studies in classical guitar with Costas Cotsiolis (diploma, 1990) and Leo Brouwer (Havana 1984, 1988), as well as postgraduate studies in composition with Lukas Foss and Theodore Antoniou (DMA in composition, Boston University, 1998). Paraskevas embarked on a successful career as a guitar soloist and contemporary composer, achieving distinctions in both disciplines: Grammy nomination for Chase Dance (Bridge Records, 1999); first prize for Night Wanderings (Lukas Foss Composition Competition, 2000); first prize for Phygein Adynaton (National Composers Conference, 1997); and numerous prestigious commissions, performances, and publications. The reason I chose the name Yesterday's Future is basically because I wanted to write a piece where it portrays moving on from something happening in you life. If I were to write it again, I would probably change up the melody a bit halfway through to make it more interesting, but nonetheless, I am pretty happy with it.As the theme continues throughout the whole the piece, changing very subtly, it resembles something you need to let go of. At the end of the piece with the held right hand and moving left hand, I wanted to make that part sound like it is moving on with the dynamics changing to resemble anger and relief. Anyway, thanks again for listening, hope you enjoyed it and there is much more to come!
