Piano trio - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q22845 Composed by Volker David Kirchner. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q22845. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q22845). The “Notturnoâ€, the first movement of Trio, originates from ‘E flat’, the note which made ‘Schumann in Endenich…’ hear the music of heaven. The famous ‘Last Thought’, however, is not quoted. Instead, the image of Schumann‘s melody is evoked in the listener‘s mind by the help of an augmented triad, stretched to breaking point, which is inverted and transposed again and again. Even the following movements do not quote directly but present only a notion. Accordingly, Volker David Kirchner describes his work as a ‘procession of musical visions’, the subtitles of which are no references to certain themes but to the associated composers and stylistic means.’Notturno’, the first movement of Trio originates from ‘E flat’, the note which made ‘Schumann in Endenich…’ hear the music of heaven. String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281002 Composed by Francesco Landini (1325-1397). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Traditional. 13 pages. Jmsgu3 #872337. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1281002). Si Dolce Non Sono (So sweet I am not ) is Landini's homage to French composer Philippe de Vitry, master of the sophisticated mathematical techniques of isorhythmic motet composition. It is one of his most famous works. It speaks of the sweet torment of loving someone who does not return that love.Landini was a leading composer of 14th-century Italy, famed during his lifetime for his musical memory, skill in improvisation, and virtuosity on the organetto, or portative organ, as well as for his compositions. Landini was blinded in childhood by smallpox. His blindness did not prevent him from becoming a highly skilled and renowned musician, composer, and instrument maker. His blindness may have contributed to his prodigious memory and great skill at improvisation. He was crowned with a laurel wreath as the winner of a poetical contest at Venice in 1364.  Landini's output, preserved in the Squarcialupi Codex, represents almost a quarter of all surviving 14th-century Italian music. He was by far the most famous composer in Italy and is considered one of the most revered composers of the second half of the 14th century.Landini's music is characterized by lyrical, songlike melodies that possess an easy-flowing grace and are charmingly harmonized. He was the foremost exponent of the Italian Trecento style, sometimes called the Italian ars nova. His output was almost exclusively secular, and he is known for his ballet and madrigals, which were popular forms of Italian secular songs. It is assumed that he wrote the texts for many of his works.Francesco Landini's music is characterized by its lyrical melodies, secular themes, and unique rhythms, which set him apart from his contemporaries and contributed to his enduring legacy as a composer.

The piece is part of Machaut's French songs, which dominated the fourteenth century in terms of quality and volume, further emphasizing its importance in his repertoire. Machaut's work, including Dame, Se Vous N'avez, has been the subject of scholarly analysis and musical appreciation, underscoring its historical and musical significance.Guillaume de Machaut's Rondeau No. 13 lyrics, Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, express genuine love and devotion. The speaker professes love without deception and invites the lady to test the sincerity of his affection, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to her. The lyrics convey a sense of loyalty and constancy in love, reflecting the themes of courtly love and chivalry prevalent in medieval poetry and music. The poem's emotional depth and romantic expression contribute to its significance as a representative example of medieval lyrical tradition and Machaut's poetic and musical prowess. The musical structure of Guillaume de Machaut's Rondeau No. 13, Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, follows the typical form of a two-part composition, as is common in the musical rondeau. The rondeau is a form of medieval and Renaissance French poetry and a corresponding musical chanson form, typically structured around a fixed pattern of repetition of verse with a refrain. The case of Dame, Se Vous N'Avez is one of three thirteen-line rondeau poems that Machaut set to music, and this form inevitably weights the first part over the second, which is significant for the parodic relationship between the two. The musical setting of the rondeau involves a specific pattern of repetition and refrain, contributing to its characteristic structure within the genre of medieval and Renaissance French music.

Guitar Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486342 Composed by Landini. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 14 pages. Jmsgu3 #1063404. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1486342). Francesco Landini's Ecco la Primavera is a significant work from the early Renaissance that exemplifies several essential aspects of 14th-century Italian music. The piece is a ballata, a popular form of Italian secular music during the Trecento period (14th century), also known as the Italian Ars Nova. This era marked the beginning of a new musical epoch. Ecco la Primavera is composed as an isorhythmic duet. Isorhythm was a crucial compositional technique in medieval and early Renaissance music, demonstrating Landini's mastery of complex musical structures. The work celebrates spring and love, reflecting the humanist ideals emerging during the early Renaissance. This focus on secular themes and natural beauty was a departure from the predominantly religious music of the medieval period. The piece provides insight into the cultural and social life of 14th-century Florence. It was likely performed at gatherings of intellectuals and artists, such as the one described at Villa del Paradiso near Florence in 1389. As the foremost composer of the Trecento period, Landini's works, including Ecco la Primavera, are crucial for understanding the musical developments of this era. The composition features flowing melodies that were characteristic of early Renaissance Italian music. This melodic style would influence the development of Renaissance music more broadly. The work has endured over centuries and continues to be performed and appreciated today, as evidenced by its inclusion in contemporary classical music rankings. Ecco la Primavera thus serves as an important example of the musical, cultural, and intellectual shifts occurring in Italy during the transition from the medieval period to the Renaissance.
