This piano solo is based on a theme taken from a chamber work I composed for my baptism way back in 2004. It has a very pop type of feel, with a driving rhythm and use of compound chords and parallel progressions. This piece has a sustained sense of harmonic tension. Is it Ab lydian.... or simply Eb major that refuses to resolve - what do you think?

It is a transcription of the waltz, comprised of an introduction, waltz sections 1 and 2, and a shortened Coda.  Waltz section 3 and 4 are omitted. The French name is LES PATINEURS. It was written in 1882. Though it is a winter-time theme, it is often associated with Christmas. This is the shorter, simpler version. There is also a longer, complete, more difficult version available.
