Although hair metal band Mötley Crüe is best known for their rock anthems about girls and motorcycles, a standout moment of their discography is the (slightly) more sentimental power ballad Home Sweet Home. Released in 1985, the song opens with a catchy piano line and lyrics describing the singer's desire to come home and make things right with his significant other. Even though the epic guitar solo later in the song preserves the band's signature hard rock feel, this is still a popular request to this day for weddings and events, and you'll definitely have fun playing this Cellobat version for solo cello! Originally written for a wedding ceremony, this chart maintains the lyrical verses, hard-hitting choruses, and even the guitar solo of the original (although it is somewhat truncated, since the original solo is almost a full minute long!). Rated advanced-intermediate for some tenor clef and higher notes (not quite up to thumb position, but as high as 6th); this will be playable for more advanced students and sightreadable for professionals.

Suppose a composer had a glimpse of the first movement of Ravel's trio in a fast forward flash. Then she is left with images. I was trying to organize my impression on Ravel’s trio. The piece uses a loose Sonata form. The first theme and the second theme is somewhat related to Ravel’s, although it is not a direct quotation. The Development is focusing on not only the two themes, but the ornaments from the exposition. The Recapitulation starts in a conventional matter but quickly move onto an improvisatory coda which is a dream-like summarization of all the impressions. The fade out ending suggests that the composer's thought is ongoing.

This is an Easy Piano Solo for a Beginner Level Student, with an optional duet accompaniment for Teacher. It's the piano portion of the music that plays when Link rides a horse in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. BOTW is a video game with an incredibly broad-based appeal. If you're a piano teacher, it's likely at least one of your students has already played this game and loves it. If they have, this music will be instantly recognizable and a joy for them to learn and to play, over and over again. 

Despite the key signature, the student part is technically simple and could easily be taught by rote for a very early beginner. The teacher's part may be somewhat challenging when played at full speed. Although the duet can be played on one piano, it is less awkward when played on two.

Tavern - 2017 is a cabaret-style response to the traditional 19th saloon tune There Is A Tavern In the Town (The Drunkard Song).  Somewhat bawdy in its contemporary telling, the plight of this jilted, yet worldly, woman spins the timeless tale of a woman scorned. Composed with the warmth of a mezzo-soprano in mind, and a pianist who is comfortable with that smooth-jazz-feel - this tune runs about 3:06 in performance time.  .

The Three Bells, as performed by The Browns, arranged for saxophone quintet. Attempts to stay true to the recorded version by The Browns were made, including a bit of somewhat complicated rhythmic writing in the beginning chorale and subsequent like sections. Good communication is needed here, as this section should have a free feel (it is recommended that ensemble members be well-acquainted with the original version as to properly grasp the nature of the passage).
This is a lovely song that makes for a beautiful piece for saxophone quintet sure to please audiences of all types.

Solo piano, 5 pages, late intermediate.  Red Fairy Roses is the first from a set of pieces called Garden Varieties.  This jaunty and rhythmic piece with its cheery mood was inspired by the lovely tiny red roses growing in my garden---small but so full of life, blooming from late spring until late fall! The theme has a somewhat pop melody with a sparkling passage of rapidly played notes in the middle.  Other pieces available in this set are:  Lilacs in Bloom and Weeds!

This arrangement of Haydn's masterpiece from his Missa in Angustiis features the principal players of each section as it alternates between string quartet phrases and the sound of the full string orchestra. It is somewhat reminiscent of a concerto grosso in style, but stays true to the original in key and overall form and is suitable for concert or contest performance.

Written for the arranger’s Middle School string orchestra, the arrangement provides an opportunity to feature your more advanced players in a relatively safe way with short group solos while the rest of the orchestra also stays engaged. All of the upper string parts can all be played in first position, with some shifting required of the cellos and basses.

Full symphonic underscore for a poem dedicated to all Dogs in the world. It's a sentimental offering, but one intended to raise awareness of the need to support organizations that shelter and care for animals in order to find them homes where they can live long, happy and healthy lives.

The musical underscore starts off dramatic but soon becomes more atmospheric to underscore the poem.  The poem is timed somewhat to the music, however, each reader will offer their own interpretation and cadence to fit within the overall fabric of the music. 

The score is particularly suited for professional orchestras especially since it calls for two harpists and a full compliment of strings, winds, and brass, and a variety of interesting percussion.  Everything about the score is intended to underscore the poem reader, so dynamics are generally soft and the score will work and sound great even with orchestras lacking some of the instrumentation.

Portions of all proceeds from sales of this score will be donated to charities supporting the care of Dogs, Cats, and other animals and it is the composer's/poet's wish that live performances will make the most of the symphonic hall setting to encourage others to donate generously to organizations that promote animal well-being.

This medley was written upon request for a missionary's send-off! It's great for:

Purpose/Message: The medley's purpose is to invigorate us and to encourage us to be brave in sharing truth. It emphasizes the concepts of pressing on, having courage, and not fearing.

Difficulty: Medium (There are some independent singing sections, some notes at the top of the soprano and tenor range, and a couple spots with less typical harmonies. It is, however, not a difficult piece overall. Those who are accustomed to singing in choirs will have no trouble but will be challenged enough to enjoy the piece.)

Range: The notes are within range for a somewhat experienced or serious singer. If using in a choir, you can have the higher notes sung one octave lower by those out of range, or add a harmonic note as needed. There are only a couple of instances where this might be needed.

Solutions to Problems: If you have youth afraid to go on missions, this song will help them take courage and be brave. If you have adults who are faltering from fear (as all do on occasion), it is hoped this song will bolster their courage and resolve.

In accepting this commission, my thoughts were to create a work that incorporated the rich history of Chautauqua and its pure, innocent, rural
Americana experience. Seeing its heritage was grounded in a nondenominational understanding of God, which incorporated both secular and
spiritual experience, it seemed fitting to arrange a work that bound these two ideals into one work. The arrangement opens with a stately expression
of valor, dignity, and innocence lost - developing gently through a series of tonal and textural adaptations of the hymn tune until it finds a stately tutti
expression for the ensemble. But the end is delayed by the arrival of a false cadence at rehearsal D, which embraces a 'river dance' with a variety of
percussive features. The idea here is one of 'beauty from ashes' and 'joy coming in the new mornings dew.' The reeds are now used to express the
bagpipe above the thrusts of the percussion. Soon, the hymn tune is heard again, supported by the rhythmic dance in reeds, brass, and percussion -
now filled with the joy of community participation. Each counter-melodic line is somewhat of a statement now - and, must be heard in its
uniqueness. It is as if the birds have begun to sing again, each in their own language, of the wonderment surrounding the new day. Hope has once
again sprung upon the community through music.
