Having spent the last 25 years arranging music for the Spring Quartet, I finally returned to original composition with this Wind Quintet in 3 movements. It's not a combination that I have written for before but I really enjoyed what I thought would be a challenge. Once I got going I found it more or less wrote itself to the extent that I kept checking that I wasn't compromising on my style. I needn't have worried. The quintet is the standard flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon and the three pieces last a total of eight minutes. A easy women's arrangement of the Swedish pop song from 2023 often played on the Swedish radio. The arrangement use barbershop voicing with the lead singing the melody in the verse and the baritone in the chorus. I have also added som loud breathing, because that's what the title means in Swedish, i.e. 'Breathe in breathe out'. Note: This sheet music is notated in barbershop format: Tenor (S.1) and Lead (S.2) in treble clef , Baritone (A.1) and Bass (A.2) in bass clef. The bass clef parts are sung an octave higher than written.

I believe Optimism is a truly important view to have on life. Sometimes, you just have to look on the bright side! Unfortunately, there cannot always be happiness. If there was no sadness, you would not recognize or appreciate the happiness. There has to be opposition in order to feel anything. Without sadness and pain there would be no joy and happiness. That's why I wrote this song the way I did. In the beginning, it starts fairly happy and exciting! But then, sadness enters and even a bit of anger. It adds great contrast to the end which feels even more exciting and elated! I hope this song helps you feel optimistic, excited, and happy!

Hopefully you'll discover that it feels completely natural to sing and play those notes together. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW209). 9 x 12 in inches.In the fall of 2013, I was approached by Tyler Goodrich White of the Lincoln Symphony who had heard of my interest in composing a holiday piece featuring the surrounding area's Suzuki students, and he gave me the green light with just a couple of stipulations: one, it had to feature the tunes from the Suzuki book, and also needed to be presented in the same order and in the same keys; and two, it needed to be interesting for the audience and the orchestra.The piece began with those sketches of Suzuki tunes. Interspersed were my original orchestral interludes, what I intended to be a combination of beautiful, dramatic, and playful, with hints of recognizable Christmas tunes woven into the background. Festive Expressions was the resulting composition, which can be performed with or without Suzuki Soloists. It was premiered by Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra on December 7, 2013 with Tyler Goodrich White conducting over 100 Suzuki Soloists on stage.The Wind Ensemble arrangement, Satana Autumn, was created for Fred J. Allen and the Stephen F. Austin State University Wind Ensemble; it was intended as a gift in response to a wonderful piece he wrote for me when I was a public school teacher.

My father taught me this beloved skill, and he started me early. Near Galena, Kansas, there is a place called Shoal Creek which, as a small child, I called ‘The River And Throw Rocks.’ My sweet and simple memories of this place are what I aim to bring to life in this piece. Beyond the rustle of the trees, I heard the first of the morning’s bird calls, and the last of the evening’s owls mixing over the gurgle of a nearby stream. The motions of the four percussionists mimic the push and pull of different species using a shared landscape for their various needs; and the sounds mimic the soft whispers of the early morning.

Published by Peter Daniel Klein (A0.1029559). I have written a programmatic, neo-romantic/post-romantic prose and musical fragment/miniature based on Schlegel's writings about a Hedgehog. Fragment in the sense that it is not fully developed, yet, in another sense, it is overdeveloped for its length. There are several modern elements in that it is bitonal at one point. At another point, I pit Scriabin's mystic chord, which is his synthetic mode, against what I feel is its nearest aeolian mode, c-minor, which is modernistically dissonant.   It is written in 'classicized' AABA popular song form, which is perfect for a miniature. It revolves around the programmatic, free verse' Prayer,' a plea to God for sleep, elusive due to the mourning of lost love and the associated emptiness and grief felt deep in the night. It is motivic in that there is a repeated augmented 6 to a half-diminished cadence that introduces the theme and then serves to transition each small section, in a secondary dominant style repetition until reaching tonic.   -A1 is a simple statement of the linear theme and harmony in 6ths, and 9ths, almost in keeping with the introductory and transitionary cadence, at least intervallically.   -A2 is a restatement of that theme with an added countermelody (which becomes the subject of section B) woven between the upper linear melody and the altered bass accompaniment.   -B begins with a short statement of the countermelody bi-tonally, the left hand in c minor, the right in g minor. There is a brief transposition between several keys, bitonally, while the sostenuto pedal holds a pedal tone until it attenuates completely.  The two measures build from repressed despondency to rage, as strong emotions often do, quickly turning to dissonant chaos. The dynamics and intensity build to a diminished chord whose top note moves up half a step to a Scriabin mystic chord arpeggio.  The held sustain pedal melds the dissonance together with emotional tumult, which fades as quickly as it came, as outbursts often do.   -A3 starts with the motivic cadence and a deep bass pedal tone. This section is the crowning moment in the piece. In sixths, the macabre accompaniment moves to the right-hand upper tessitura as the more developed 'A' melody moans below in the bass and baritone as the music ebbs away. A simple c-minor arpeggio strains against a very similar Scriabin mystic chord arpeggio, an octave or a minor seventh apart, ending on an A major and A flat in sweet, gentle, unresolved dissonance against a dying root pedal tone, the final teardrop.
