In almost every instance the repeat would have been more elaborate or played in a different register on the organ.In arranging the Chaconne for wind players I have used the different characteristics of the wind instruments in varying combinations and changes of register to create what I hope is an enjoyable and entertaining concert piece for players of advanced intermediate standard. It is an emotional and searching work that hopefully captures what I, at least, have been feeling for much of the year of loss and reinvention. That my mother commissioned this piece is a tribute to her belief in me, her desire to support me as an artist, her need for something to work on as a pianist and her curiosity. The subtitle, Mom's notes is a shared secret between us.
