Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869295 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 149 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431379. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869295). Instrumentation: 3222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-chorus-strings Program note:It has been a wonderful two years of thinking, learning and working on my Continental Harmony Project with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. It is a rare occasion that a composer in the 21st century would receive a commission to write a musical work of such scale: a 40-minute piece for symphony orchestra, 200-plus chorus and a ballet company.   At the Bangor Public Library I found some wonderful evocative 19th century texts for the chorus about the city of Bangor and its environs: the Penobscot River, Mt. Ktaadn, the logging industry, the native American culture, etc.   At times I felt overwhelmed, but most of the times I was exuberant and quite inspired by the music that came forth in the process.   The premiere is less than a month away, and I am looking forward to it. Susan Jonason, Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony, has made the occasion a very public one: a free concert on a Saturday evening! I hope the audience will go home humming the tunes from the work as they walk into the crisp, cool Bangor night.Formally the work is in five movements. The first, third and fifth movements are choral, and the two in between are orchestral.   In the premiere, the Robinson Ballet will dance in the orchestral movements.  The first movement is about the Penobscot River from winter to spring. The melting of the ice is a harbinger of things to come: warmer weather, for instance; but it has also contributed to a lot of flooding in the city of Bangor and its surroundings. The second movement is a waltz, a grand 19th century ballroom waltz for the ladies of the rich lumber barons. They come to the ball showing off their latest hats and gowns from London, Paris and Milan. The third movement is about the woods and the people who work in them. Thoreau’s text about Mt. Ktaadn is full of awesome thoughts about how nature is beautiful, yet unkind to man.   It is followed by a J.G. Whittier lyric entitled The Logger’s Boast. The original song had twenty stanzas to it. I whittled it down to five. I don’t know what the original song sounded like, so I made up my own version of a lumberjack’s drinking song. The fourth movement is a wild, drunken polka. After a long week of working in the woods the lumbermen come back to the city and spend all their earnings on booze, women and gambling. And they dance the night away …The last movement begins with a funeral march for Joe Attien, a native American who was Thoreau’s guide when he came up here in the 1900’s. The work ends with a rousing march, a centennial hymn to the city of Bangor.   God bless our city Bangor, now! On this its birthday morn …NB: The two ballet movements, II. La Valse and IV. Drunken Polka, are optional.

Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224504 Composed by Aaryn S. Ricucci-Hill. 21st Century,Classical. 26 pages. Abundant Silence #820608. Published by Abundant Silence (A0.1224504). In 2022 I was commissioned to write a piece which would accompany a proposal submitted to the College Music Society conference in Boise, ID. Part of the proposal suggested music that celebrated the rich musical heritage of the Northwest. In looking around at what that meant, I discovered a curious fact about Boise: it has the only Basque heritage museum in the country. Suddenly the wheels got to turning! Basquing (2022) seeks to invoke... bask, if one will, in the sounds and feelings of another time and place. The inspiration of the piece comes from the Basque region of France with quotations from folksong, fiddle music, and a general vibe of French impressionism. The piece opens with the folksong Atzo Goizean, the lyrics to which invoke the folksy elements of village living (talking about waking to the thrush’s song, fathers arranging marriages, etc.). The urge to ‘word paint’ the folk song with it references to thrushes and partridges, is tempting, but the urge was avoided in this case, instead opting for a general “vibeâ€, or feeling. The next section avoids quotation altogether, instead opting to steep into the mystique environment created before. The last major portion of the piece utilizes what was billed (to me at least) as a Basque fiddle tune (the title lost as it seems the scholarly research on the subject and tunes that comprise the genre are lacking even by those who claim to have some knowledge of it). Assuming the best, however, the fiddle tune quoted in Basquing is meant to be a musical representation of familial resemblance to the fiddle music of the Pacific Northwest and how folk music of all varieties is at one time so specific yet at the same time broad in its understanding across cultures. Commissioned in 2022 by Arthur Houle (pianist) and Joung Hoon Song (violinist) for the Pacific Northwest College Music Society Conference 2023 in Boise, ID and premiered at said conference on March 17th, 2023.

Published by Lior Navok Music (A0.976038). AT THE EDGE OF A SPIRAL - for Piano Four-Hands (2004) DURATION: 10 Minutes PROGRAM NOTES: The composer writes about his work: At the Edge of a Spiral for one piano, four hands is a short journey of a built intensity. It is based on few fragments, motives that are lit in different light each time. The piece starts slow, but increases its intensity and speed as it progresses, utilizing the same motives. While composing the piece, I heard about a young man that threw himself to the river. I tried to imagine that went in his mind and what brought to this dead-end. And again the idea of a built intensity, obsessive and uncompromising came to my mind. At the very end of the piece, there is a sudden drop of intensity followed by a music box passage, as if describing what is going on in the person's mind right after the jump, right after reaching the edge of his life's spiral. At the Edge of a Spiral was written and dedicated for the Silver-Garburg Piano Duo - Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg. It was funded by the generous support of Miriam and Eliezer Benbassat. Sharon Wilson #959316. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.1374785). Beginner Piano SolosMiddle C PositionFive-Finger formatThis is a collection of 20 hymns and spirituals arranged for beginning piano students. These arrangements are formatted in the traditional five-finger style with the melody split between the hands and without key signatures.  All 20 songs are written in Middle C Position where all notes are played singly centered around Middle C (diagrams are provided showing notes and finger placement). No fingering is notated on the sheet music to encourage students to learn to read the notes instead of using the fingering numbers to play the song. Thus, this collection makes a great sight-reading book, especially if some of the songs are unfamiliar. Some songs require playing the B-flat note in the left hand or the F-sharp note in the right hand. For the few songs that use one of these two black notes, the flats or sharps are displayed beside the note on the staff, not in the key signature (special diagrams are provided showing finger placement for the sharps and flats used). These arrangements are perfect for introducing classic Christian songs to beginning pianists. They can be used as supplementary repertoire for first year piano students. Lyrics are included for sing-along enjoyment.Song titles included in this collection:   A Mighty FortressAlleluia! Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813474 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 30 pages. Regis Bookshar #6264891. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813474). Canon in D (Pachelbel) (D) (Trumpet Quintet) - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon in D, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon in D, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for a Trumpet Quintet. Three Trumpets play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the other two Trumpets. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. It is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library that are becoming available for the first time. It is perfect for concerts and church services, especially for Weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (30 pages). This version is written in the key of D Major, but, if you prefer, another version, written in the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, is also available. Other versions of Pachelbel's Canon in D have also been arranged by Regis Bookshar and are available for a wide variety of instrumental Quintets and Octets, in both the keys of D Major and Bb Major. I think that String players would probably prefer to play the versions in the key of D Major while the Brass and Woodwind musicians might prefer to play the Bb Major versions. I hope you take the time to compare the different versions to find the right version for you. To help you decide which version, or versions, you may want to choose, I have included several musical samples for you to listen to and to hear what these arrangements may sound like and so that you may compare the various arrangements. Also, just to let you know, the Octets written in the key of Bb Major have full-length recordings while the Octets in D Major and all Quintets have only the first 25 measures, or so, available to hear. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar which are also available. There are quite a few other arrangements in a variety of styles and I'm certain you will find something else which might interest you as well. Please keep checking because I plan to continue to add new arrangements as often as I can. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon in D will be a challenge to some performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Piano,Trumpet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028166 Composed by Graeme Culpepper. Contemporary. Score and part. 47 pages. Graeme Culpepper #6866343. Published by Graeme Culpepper (A0.1028166). Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra Composer: Graeme Culpepper Year: 2022   Program Notes: I feel that there is a time in every composer's life when they decide to write a concerto. Writing a concerto is as intriguing as it is difficult, as finding a balance between soloist and ensemble can prove to be a tricky task. What’s more, is deciding upon said ensemble. In today’s musical climate, the supporting ensemble can be a variety of different instrumental groups ranging from a chamber ensemble consisting of just a few musicians to a full symphony orchestra. In my humble opinion, with a genre as grand as a concerto, especially one involving the trumpet, I find it fitting to use the orchestra to accompany the trumpet. However, I opted to use an orchestra without a trumpet section to better support the soloist. This concerto’s first movement is built upon a couple of form-defining motifs. One in the form of an ostinato that is constantly changing meter, and another that is a simple short rhythmic cell that is able to fit in a variety of different textures throughout the movement. This movement also introduces the main motif throughout the entire concerto: a melodic sequence consisting of a minor third, a perfect fifth, followed by another minor third which resolves down by half step. This is the unifying motif of the entire concerto. I often ponder as to where the material in the second movement came from. After a long time of reflection, I have come to the conclusion that it is a subconscious expression of myself that comes from deep within. The second movement is perhaps the most vulnerable I have ever been with any of the music I have written, and the experience I personally have when listening to it is one that is very intimate. The third movement is a thrilling romp that is entirely built on the unifying motif mentioned earlier. The whole movement is essentially one big variation of itself. This movement is arguably the most technical and gives the trumpet soloist a great opportunity to show off their skill. This movement is also built upon a one-bar rhythmic ostinato so that the tension in this movement is never fully resolved until the very last bar, in hopes that this will keep the listener on their toes at all times.  Performed live in Recital Hall at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music on March 1st, 2022Purchase includes Full Score + Solo Trumpet Part.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1247227 By New Christy Minstrels. By Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Timothy Stapay #841772. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1247227). This is an arrangement of Chim Chim Cher-ee from the Walt Disney movie, Mary Poppins.Chim Chim Cher-ee is a song from Mary Poppins, the 1964 musical motion picture, and also is featured in the 2004 Mary Poppins musical. The song won the 1964 Academy Award for Best Original Song. In 2005, Julie Andrews included this song as part of Julie Andrews Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs.  The song was written by Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman (the Sherman Brothers) who also won an Oscar and a Grammy Award for Mary Poppins' song score. The song was inspired by one of the drawings of a chimney sweep created by Mary Poppins' screenwriter, Don DaGradi. When asked about the drawing by the Sherman Brothers, DaGradi explained the ancient British folklore attributed to sweeps and how shaking hands with one or touching their sleeve could bring a person good luck.  In their 1961 treatment, the Sherman Brothers had already amalgamated many of the P.L. Travers characters in the creation of Bert. His theme music became Chim Chim Cher-ee. Lyrics:Chim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-eeA sweep is as luckyAs lucky can beChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-ooGood luck will rub off whenI shakes 'ands with youOr blow me a kissAnd that's lucky tooNow as the ladder of life'As been strungYou may think a sweep'sOn the bottommost rungThough I spends me timeIn the ashes and smokeIn this 'ole wide worldThere's no 'appier blokeChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-eeA sweep is as luckyAs lucky can beChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-ooGood luck will rub off whenI shakes 'ands with youChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-eeA sweep is as luckyAs lucky can beChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-ooGood luck will rub off whenI shakes 'ands with youI choose me bristles with prideYes, I doA broom for the shaftAnd a brush for the flumeUp where the smoke isAll billered and curled'Tween pavement and starsIs the chimney sweep worldWhen the's 'ardly no dayNor 'ardly no nightThere's things 'alf in shadowAnd 'alf way in lightOn the roof tops of LondonCoo, what a sightChim chimineyChim chimineyChim chim cher-eeWhen you're with a sweepYou're in glad companyNo where is thereA more 'appier crewThan them wot singsChim chim cher-eeChim cher-ooChim chim cher-eeChim chim cher-ee chim cher-oo.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813438 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 36 pages. Regis Bookshar #6260467. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813438). Canon (Pachelbel) (Bb) (Clarinet Octet) - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for a Clarinet Octet. Three Clarinets play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the other five instruments. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. It is perfect for concerts and church services, especially for Weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (36 pages). This version is written in the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, but another version is also available in the key of D Major if you would prefer. Other versions of Pachelbel's Canon have also been arranged by Regis Bookshar and are available for a wide variety of instrumental Quintets and Octets, in both the keys of D Major and Bb Major. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon will be a challenge to some performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
