Cello,Clarinet,Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1381033 Composed by Jason V. Barabba. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Disco. 48 pages. Barabba Music #965749. Published by Barabba Music (A0.1381033). It’s difficult to know what to say about this piece. It will probably always be an aberration when considered as part of my larger body of works. My challenge when writing this piece was to incorporate two different dance styles, and I immediately decided it was time to face the disco music of my childhood. Yes, I had the Bee Gees on LP when I was a kid.…and ABBA…but I left them out of this piece.Obviously, this is meant to be fun. There are direct (if not always obvious) quotations to the following songs:              Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bellâ€Â              “Night Fever†by the Bee Gees              Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive†(Just had to be included)              Lipps Inc’s “Funktownâ€Â              and “Boogie Nights†from HeatwaveThe ancient dance form known as the pavane is, weirdly enough, the perfect pairing with the disco…in that their rhythmic structures easily go together, allowing me to spread the disco material around throughout the piece. In fact, the references to “I Will Survive†are in the slower pavane section, not the disco. The piece is basic A-B-A form (Disco-Pavane-Disco) with a fadeout ending…because in all my research I don’t remember finding a single disco piece that didn’t have a fadeout ending. It just wasn’t done. Please have some fun listening to this piece, because I had a great time writing it. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever written..pdf contains a complete set of score and parts. There are also versions with Flute and Oboe in place of the clarinet available. For more information visit www.jasonbarabba.com.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1173897). A beautiful song about coming to the Savior with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Kathryn W. Hales.Text:I went in the Gold Rush like many a man,To search for some nuggets or a flash in the pan.But few were the findings from a grand mother lode,I went for the Gold Rush, but I didn’t find gold.I found what was there, growing right from the ground,The flora and fauna, with trees that abound.I found the beauty of nature’s own place,I found the beauty shown by God’s grace.Like those in the Gold Rush, I’ve oft followed man,To search for the shiny, a flash in the pan,But the glamour soon ended when the glitzy wore thin,I went for the sparkly but found grace for my sins. The world cannot offer the true value of souls,For they are more precious than nuggets of gold.I found true wealth, not deep in a mine,But in the pierced hands of a Savior divine.I might lose my way, when guided by man,So, look to the heavens and follow God’s plan. The glitter of Fool’s Gold has many deceived__A glimmer of hope, then deep tears of grief.I’ll look for the riches only He can bestow,I’ll avoid that ol’ Gold Rush but seek for true gold.By seeking a life, eternal and pure,Seeking for Jesus, who gives gold that endures.

For, in the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught. - Baba Dioum, Senegalese Environmentalist, 1968.I am driven by a profound passion to create music that celebrates and immortalizes the beauty and wonder of our national parks. These parks, with their unique charm, hold a special place in my heart and have been the backdrop for countless cherished memories. I hope my compositions will not only evoke the grandeur of these natural landscapes but also inspire my listeners to experience them firsthand. Wolves of Winter is set in Yellowstone National Park and the vibrant wildlife found in Lamar Valley.« Car, au final, nous ne conserverons que ce que nous aimons. Ces parcs, avec leur charme unique, occupent une place particulière dans mon cœur et ont été la toile de fond d’innombrables souvenirs précieux. Baritone Horn TC,Cello,Piccolo,Soprano voice,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1404089 Composed by Jason V. Barabba. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Opera. 49 pages. Barabba Music #987269. Published by Barabba Music (A0.1404089). A Micro-opera by Jason V. BarabbaLibretto by Jason V. Barabba and Annie Jankowski after The Wolf and the Lamb by Aesop for Soprano, Baritone, Flute, Violin, Viola and CelloIt feels like our national political and social discourse has plummeted to new depths of dysfunction. No matter what your opinions are, you cannot fail to notice that we’ve lost something in our nation when our leaders cannot find a way to disagree with one another with civility. It is hard to feel optimistic, or even know what to do in the face of such petty ugliness that passes for political thought in this nation. For Tyrant I turned to the basic lessons found in Aesop’s fables, which are at heart lessons on being a good member of civil society…lessons that unfortunately I believe our nation needs to re-learn. Soon. The Wolf and the Lamb focuses on someone who consciously makes up lies to justify what he wants to do and feels alarmingly relevant today. Only lightly edited to turn the story into a dramatic scene, it is a very old story intended for the people of 2017.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031686 Composed by Austin Wintory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Austin Wintory #3512243. Published by Austin Wintory (A0.1031686). EP!C!!! is an overture-sized orchestral work, originally commissioned by the West Michigan Symphony in 2016. It is intended as a higher energy opener or Act 1 closer. Program notes:Entirely by mistake, EP!C!!! is study in conflict. The piece began with a simple premise: compose a work which teases some of the pervasive clichés of today’s musical landscape (particularly the Hollywood or so-called media music scenes). Those clichés are primarily two gestures: 1) a progression of chords, often called the Chords of Destiny (consisting of i – VI – III – VIII) and 2) an endlessly repeating minor third ostinato. The conflict emerged internally when, after multiple false starts, I would quickly start to hate the piece because it felt like the clichés were being presented whole cloth, without the slightest sense of irony. I became deeply paranoid that the music wasn’t in on its own joke. When I would reverse course, it felt condescending, as though it were declaring from some erudite ivory tower that it was above those gestures. The trouble particularly with the latter is that clichés become so for a reason; something genuinely compelling becomes so ubiquitous that it loses some of the freshness, but that doesn’t erase what initially made it compelling. So the piece needed to somehow make fun of the fact that these gestures are cliché, while not dismissing their intrinsic value. And indeed, to celebrate that value! It took a long time to find my place between those two extremes, and ultimately I think the music that emerged is actually the conflict itself manifest. The two gestures are this constant presence, almost like a seductive temptation, that are initially regarded as distractions, but eventually become the music’s core. It’s as though the music finally decided to just relent and find something to truly love and celebrate within these overwrought ideas, haters be damned. However, for the sake of total clarity of intention, I couldn’t resist some on-the-nose tongue-in-cheek. The little cameo of Haydn’s lulling 94th Symphony 2nd movement tune is my way of saying you think classical music is epic??? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SH*T!!! before inevitably popping open a Mountain Dew and snowboarding into an avalanche.- Austin Wintory, October 21, 2016

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792589 Composed by Ian McDougall. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 24 pages. Gordon Cherry #5010287. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792589). Ian McDougall has written a stellar new major work entitled Concertino for Trombone with Piano accompaniment, Devil or Angel?. The composition is in three movements: I Cherub vs Imp II Guardian III Old Nick This new work was commissioned by his former student, Gordon Wolfe, Principal Trombonist of the Toronto Symphony. The Concertino is one of the featured works on Wolfe's beautiful new recording, REFLECTIONS. Here is what the composer says about his own work: The 'tritone' has been referred to as a dissonance for centuries, and has been called 'the devil in music'. This interval can be quite difficult to sing in tune, and can often grate on the ears, yet it can also have a great dramatic effect. It is tuly a 'devilish' little beast, and it is what inspired me. The devil's antagonist is surely an angel. So, imagine one's guardian angel on one shoulder, and 'Old Nick' on the other, battling for your conscience, and you will essentially have what this three movement piece is all about. Concertino is for very advanced performers and is about 15 minutes in length.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Jazz. Brass Band. 107 pages. Dale Vail #897836. Published by Dale Vail (A0.1308595). Christchurch Alive! - Brass Band Major WorkPlaying level : Suitable for bands of all levelsParts for British Brass Band, and transposed options for Bass clef Trombone/Euphonium/Baritones/Tubas and Horns in F.Christchurch Alive! was written for the Nor'west Brass Band in 2017 by Dale Vail as the own choice work for their first New Zealand National Brass Band Contest in 2018.Christchurch Alive! is a testimony to the spirit of the Christchurch Community, and their resilience to the life changing earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. The piece is built around the harmonic circle of fifths. The circle of fifths is famous for being a common harmonic pattern in both baroque and classical music, and jazz and modern music. Most influentially used by Arcangelo Corelli, the pattern appears commonly in the Johann Sebastian Bach's music, and the works of Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. In the modern age, it is most famously heard in Joseph Kosma's Autumn Leaves. Dale's piece takes the two sides of this famous progression, and links them into one seamless piece of music, symbolising the union of two eras making something new, much like pre-earthquake culture, and new post-earthquake culture, joining together to create a new community. The work opens with a traditional style melody, utilising a modern minor 7th tonality. Tubular bells sound 5 times, a clock tower striking 5am marking the first hour after the first earthquake. The band explodes into a New Orleans style street band theme, showing the nightlife and central city vibrancy that still exists amongst the repairs. This swaps to a Vivaldi inspired melody, using the same circle of 5ths progression, a blend of two different times, old and new buildings forming one city. A solo voice from offstage begins a cadenza, echos of a busker in the old arts centre markets, which brings one intoA nostalgic melody from the flugel. A reflection on what used to be. The circle of fifths becomes a I - V progression, stuck on a continuous loop, illustrating a longing to remember, and to restore what was. The circle begins to move forward again with a solo trombone taking the stage, a reflection on the late night jam sessions from the Christchurch Jazz School on Poplar lane. A Sibelius inspired melody reminds that whilst the past is remembered, it cannot be revisited. The flugel melody is re-harmonized, remembering what made the old Christchurch great, and taking that with us to the new Christchurch. All the themes are revisited and brought together in a vibrant ending, a hybrid of different communities, restored and new landmarks, and a resolve to make the future their own.The city is thriving and more alive than ever.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1217376 Composed by JohnWillard Utuk. Contemporary,Film/TV,Instructional,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 10 pages. JohnWillard Utuk #813922. Published by JohnWillard Utuk (A0.1217376). Do you or someone you know like the Heartstopper webcomic characters Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring? Here's a charming piano solo inspired by Alice Oseman's series that literally has music bringing them both together! Using each letter from their names, two distinct melody lines were created as a musical cryptogram (hidden words matched to musical pitches). Both themes are simple, and I wanted this piece to capture the optimism portrayed in the first two volumes of the graphic novel (and season 1 of the Netflix adaptation). Overall this solo has a light-hearted pop feel and a driving rhythm that can appeal to tweens, teens, and adults alike. Written in the key of C major, players get to explore varied musical elements and techniques: left hand syncopation, simple rhythms of mostly quarter, eighth, and half notes (crochet, quaver, and minums for our UK Friends!), triplets, alternating legato and staccato passages, tempo changes and different dynamic markings (p, mp, mf, f, ff). Musical phrases are 4-8 measures long, which makes recognizing patterns and form easy for students. With performance directions of hopeful, happily, and relaxed, interpretation beyond just notes and rhythms is an advanced concept teachers can explore with students. This solo piece can be played for fun, talent shows, recitals, sight reading, or (for fans of the series) entertainment during Heartstopper episode marathons! This piece celebrates the essence of youth, adventure, and hope of what's to come. Total performance time: 4:35. Key: C Major Musical Elements explored: syncopation, staccato, legato, simple rhythms, dotted quarter notes, triplets, sensitivity to musical interpretation, dynamic contrast, tempo changes, pedaling. Teachers can spark imagination with students by asking, What are the characters doing in this passage? How would they feel in this part? Who or what else can represent the two melodies? to experiment with musical storytelling. If you enjoyed this piece, leave a review below! In the last century especially, stories of space exploration and adventure have captivated the world’s attention. Another thing it seems, is that the most popular of these stories, in the film medium at least, always have incredible French horn lines. I was blessed to go to school where incredible horn players were abundant, and I made friends with as many of them as I could. This piece is meant to be a fun exercise for the imagination: what happens during the maiden voyage to the stars? Cello Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.812889 Composed by Adrianus Valerius, Folklore, Folliott S. Pierpoint, Franz Lehar, Franz Schubert, Franz Xaver Gruber, Johannes Brahms, John Newton, and Traditional. Arranged by Yellow Cello Music. Celtic,Christian,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. Individual part. 27 pages. Sheryl Smith #4981963. Published by Sheryl Smith (A0.812889). Includes 15 songs for the beginner cellist. Specially created for students using Suzuki and similar methods. For students who play in first position only, and for those beginning to learn shifting. What makes this book special? It includes:1. Pieces in the low register of the cello. Beginner books often focus on the A and D strings. 2. More lyrical pieces, meaning more song-like, more Romantic than Baroque style. 3. A teacher accompaniment part (teacher edition only). The students find it enjoyable, and it teaches them how important it is to listen and to play in time, in tune, and with dynamics. Can also be used for recitals.4. Familiar tunes. What is familiar to one person is unknown to others, but I tried to put in pieces that many people would be familiar with.5. Shifting with familiar tunes. When I was a student, I found it easier to learn a shift if the piece was familiar. My ear knew where to go. I have included a few pieces with two versions: first position and shifting . The student can learn the first position version and then be able to learn shifting with a familiar tune.6. There is plenty of empty space on the pages for teachers to add markings.7. Created by a cello teacher for cellists.  Not adapted from another instrument.  Tested by real students.

Thomas Oboe Lee #431379. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869295). Instrumentation: 3222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-chorus-strings Program note:It has been a wonderful two years of thinking, learning and working on my Continental Harmony Project with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. It is a rare occasion that a composer in the 21st century would receive a commission to write a musical work of such scale: a 40-minute piece for symphony orchestra, 200-plus chorus and a ballet company.   At the Bangor Public Library I found some wonderful evocative 19th century texts for the chorus about the city of Bangor and its environs: the Penobscot River, Mt. Ktaadn, the logging industry, the native American culture, etc.   At times I felt overwhelmed, but most of the times I was exuberant and quite inspired by the music that came forth in the process.   The premiere is less than a month away, and I am looking forward to it. Susan Jonason, Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony, has made the occasion a very public one: a free concert on a Saturday evening! I hope the audience will go home humming the tunes from the work as they walk into the crisp, cool Bangor night.Formally the work is in five movements. The first, third and fifth movements are choral, and the two in between are orchestral.   In the premiere, the Robinson Ballet will dance in the orchestral movements.  The first movement is about the Penobscot River from winter to spring. The melting of the ice is a harbinger of things to come: warmer weather, for instance; but it has also contributed to a lot of flooding in the city of Bangor and its surroundings. The second movement is a waltz, a grand 19th century ballroom waltz for the ladies of the rich lumber barons. They come to the ball showing off their latest hats and gowns from London, Paris and Milan. The third movement is about the woods and the people who work in them. Thoreau’s text about Mt. Ktaadn is full of awesome thoughts about how nature is beautiful, yet unkind to man.   It is followed by a J.G. Whittier lyric entitled The Logger’s Boast. The original song had twenty stanzas to it. I whittled it down to five. I don’t know what the original song sounded like, so I made up my own version of a lumberjack’s drinking song. The fourth movement is a wild, drunken polka. After a long week of working in the woods the lumbermen come back to the city and spend all their earnings on booze, women and gambling. And they dance the night away …The last movement begins with a funeral march for Joe Attien, a native American who was Thoreau’s guide when he came up here in the 1900’s. The work ends with a rousing march, a centennial hymn to the city of Bangor.   God bless our city Bangor, now! On this its birthday morn …NB: The two ballet movements, II. La Valse and IV. Drunken Polka, are optional.

These arrangements are formatted in the traditional five-finger style with the melody split between the hands and without key signatures.  All 20 songs are written in Middle C Position where all notes are played singly centered around Middle C (diagrams are provided showing notes and finger placement). No fingering is notated on the sheet music to encourage students to learn to read the notes instead of using the fingering numbers to play the song. Thus, this collection makes a great sight-reading book, especially if some of the songs are unfamiliar. Some songs require playing the B-flat note in the left hand or the F-sharp note in the right hand. For the few songs that use one of these two black notes, the flats or sharps are displayed beside the note on the staff, not in the key signature (special diagrams are provided showing finger placement for the sharps and flats used). These arrangements are perfect for introducing classic Christian songs to beginning pianists. They can be used as supplementary repertoire for first year piano students. Lyrics are included for sing-along enjoyment.Song titles included in this collection:   A Mighty FortressAlleluia!
