Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1437015 By Milva. By Carlo Carunchio, Ennio Morricone, and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi. Arranged by Eileen Gilligan. 21st Century,Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,Traditional. Score and part. 9 pages. The Flautist #1017083. Published by The Flautist (A0.1437015). D'Amore Si Muore is an excellent way to practice words, expression and phrasing. In this case variations on “love you ” all the way through.Relates brilliantly to Melodious Studies number 11, 13, 14 and also 8.I am a big fan of playing slowly and having absolute control of everything I do down to the last detail and a melody like this is a great tool to practice this. I don’t believe one can play fast before control over slow playing and expression is mastered. Our most natural instrument is our voice . Singing and playing this melody is a terrific way to bridge the gap between the metal flute and one’s voice. The outcome is an amazing resonance ,musical quality in the tone and natural phrasing.Moyse was asked what he thought the French School of flute playing was and he answered” being able to sound like other instruments”. We have to start with the first port of call – our voice. The words you can use for phrasing are ” love you , love you , love you , love you, love you so.” “I really love you so much” ” I really love you so” etc all the way through . You can make up your own.It is worth singing and playing this through. By that I mean play 2 notes, sing 2 and play 2 all the way through without interrupting the musical flow, resonance and tone quality. Great for practising going between singing and playing quickly.Love was a favourite word of Moyse and Wibb. I see why!. It innately has so much expression, warmth, opens up the mouth and in Moyse’s words “scoops the last spoonful of mayonnaise from the jar. ” You definitely can’t say it with “an ugly nasal voice”- Moyse quote. The tone has to have life and expression. I hear so often soft playing as the player blowing softly but that gives such a dull lifeless outcome.

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942423 Composed by Hubert Parry (1848-1918). Arranged by Brock Lupton (1948-). Christian,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Brock Lupton #4764195. Published by Brock Lupton (A0.942423). This setting is ideal for Remembrance Day: it is also suitable for a funeral or celebration of life. It is singable as a congregation hymn, as an anthem for unison voices, or as a vocal solo (range A below middle C to D a ninth above middle C). The text is by Canadian poet Frederick George Scott (1861-1944). The original title is Requiescant (Let them rest). The source is Christian Poetry in Canada (ed David A. Kent ed, Anglican Book Center and ECW Press, Toronto, Canada, 1993) page 54. Scott was a military chaplain during World War I. This poem was, in the poet’s own words, [b]egun while I was lying awake in a sleeping-bag under a tarpaulin at Brielen, near Ypres…. during the gas attack on April 22nd, 1915…. As I lay awake, I wondered what all our comrades who had passed over were doing now…. I finished the poem at a little village called Robec. As I wrote it, I could see through the window, my host, who was a carpenter, making a baby’s coffin. (http://www.canadianpoetry.ca/confederation/FGScott/collected_poems/notes.htm) I have made a few slight changes: awful  has become awe-filled Dear Christ became O Christ, and the line A weary road these men have trod has been altered to A weary road these warriors trod. Both the music and the original text are in the public domain in Canada, where copyright expires 50 years after the death of the author or composer.A brass quintet arrangement compatible with the voice part is available separately.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011289 Composed by Ho Jie Rong. Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Ho Jie Rong #5794097. Published by Ho Jie Rong (A0.1011289). I am a Singaporean pianist and composer. I have studied the piano since 5 years old under Mr Joseph Toh and I graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2013, majoring in Music Composition under Malaysian composer Mr Chong Kee Yong and Singaporean composer Mrs Joyce Koh Bee Tuan. About Six Preludes I started composing this set of Six Preludes for piano in 2014 and revised in 2020. The first piece of this set is Walking. There are different types of walks one can imagine. Octaves in the left hand at the opening represents walking sluggishly, whilst the middle section’s running right hand and jokingly bass notes representing a quick stroll. The Adagio recititavo part represents tip-toeing and finally the quasi cadenza part represents a trip on the floor, ouch! The second piece, which is nicknamed Joke, is a parody of Chopin’s Scherzo no. 1 in B minor, Op. 20. Take this piece as a lame unfunny joke, as in the slow coda, which is a sigh after listening to this joke. Night Song, as the name says, means a piece to be played at night, most commonly associate with pieces like Nocturnes, Barcarolles etc. The fourth piece, Chopin, is a homage to Chopin. I chose his Prelude in G and B flat minor, Op. 28 no. 3 and no. 16 respectively as sources of inspirations. Vision is a poly-tonality piece. Sometimes what we think or see, may not always end up the way it is. Hence, I hope to create this double effect by using the keys at the same time. The final piece of this set is a Fughetta. A fughetta is a small fugue. This piece is actually a piano transcription of the 3rd movement of my Three Colours (for Clarinet in B flat, Violin and Cello) which is composed and premiered in 2012. I revised and edited some sections. This is a 12-tone work. The P0 and R0 makes up the subject of this piece, while R11 makes up the countersubject. Six Preludes is dedicated to my friend Ng Yu Fei.

Small Ensemble Horn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971700 Composed by Horatio Spafford (lyric) and Phillip Bliss (music). Arranged by Michael E. Ropp. Christian,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 11 pages. Michael E. Ropp #2959209. Published by Michael E. Ropp (A0.971700). I have always loved this hymn, and one Sunday morning when I had been called upon to write something lyric for our brass quartet (two trumpets in Bb, horn in F, and tuba), I went straight for It Is Well With My Soul.  This arrangement tells in music the story of Horatio Spafford and the circumstances under which he wrote the lyric for this hymn.  The piece opens with sounding of the horn of Spafford’s ship as she passes over the point at which Spafford's four daughters were lost.  The first verse builds dramatically as the lyric comes to Spafford and ends with the lovely chorus.  The next section is based on the third stanza of the hymn in which Spafford writes, My sin, not the part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross…  The horn gets the melody, evoking the sound of Spafford’s own voice, and the other instruments vividly paint the hammering of the nails.  However, as Spafford moves into the chorus, the harmony becomes dark and uncertain as Spafford’s grief overwhelms him; his faith wavers as he tries to believe what he is writing.  Then, the melody transfers to the trumpet as Spafford is answered by the higher voice from above-his daughters assuring him that, yes, it IS well, it is well.  The piece then ends with a peaceful statement of the chorus, evocative of the rolling sea and Spafford’s soul at peace.  This piece can be played by a student ensemble; the primary challenge is in achieving the level of expression and emotion required to pull off a piece like this.

Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1173842 By Kristen Bell. By Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 30 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #773993. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1173842). Disney's movie, Frozen is so popular, and the songs are, as usual, very popular too. This song is my favorite, even it's the most heart-breaking. It shows the lives of Elsa and Anna beginning as happy children, who enjoy each other's company. Elsa finds out that her ice powers are potentially harmful to her younger sister and is forced to isolate herself in her bedroom. Anna tries, unsuccessfully, to coax her sister out to play for many years. Then, they receive news that their parents have died at sea in a storm. Lonely and desperately unhappy, Anna knocks on her sister's bedroom door...             Elsa?           Please, I know you're in there           People are asking where you've been           They say, Have courage, and I'm trying to           I'm right out here for you, just let me in           We only have each other           It's just you and me           What are we gonna do?           Do you wanna build a snowman?   Scored for low flute choir - 4 altos, 2 basses and contrabass. There is an optional double bass part that doubles contrabass to help fortify it if needed. This arrangement is simple enough for musicians with intermediate playing skills, but it does require good breath support for the many long tones, and it also has a bit of syncopated rhythms. Duration: 4 minutes.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862657 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Michael Bomier. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #3601985. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862657). The Prelude in C# minor was the bane of Rachmaninoff's existence as a performer. Audiences could NOT get enough of it, and he could not bear to play it one more time! Such is Fame and Success. Well, we Normal Humans have had to look at the traditional setting of it, in two grand staves, with enough double-accidentals to blind a scribe, and try to emulate The Master from that pirate's treasure map. No longer. Here is a single-grand staff setting, with only the most minor modifications to accommodate the average hand, and spellings that show the true nature of the chords. The single best aspect of our setting here is the Total Elimination of the crossed-hand octaves throughout. When I realized these were only three or four-note triads, and not a pile of interlocking harmonies, I determined to make things clearer, for myself, and other players. The low notes all correspond to Rachmaninoff's bassline, except for one passage near the end. Only TWO octave doublings have been removed to make a smaller leap from the former lower grand staff to the upper. When I was a young student, this sort of music was baffling to my eyes, but not my ears. Now we can all see it and play it for what it is, an early masterwork, based on S.R.'s training in harmony from the Moscow Conservatory. A note can be the root, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and even 9th of some chord. They are all on display here, with a nice summation at the end, in quietude. MBB.
